Don't buy this printer. No instructions on how to use it and when I tried to register it with the serial number and model number on the printer, it did not recognize them. Ink cartridges are small and in fact you can't buy them-out of stock everywhere. Have had to unplug it to turn it off and continually having problems with connectivity. Stay away from this one!

      Hi there.

I’m sorry to hear that you’ve had such a troubling experience with your new printer. I can understand why connectivity problems, a lack of instructions and our system not recognizing its serial number would be a confounding combination, so I’ll offer a resource and information I hope will help.

I can’t tell from your review what’s causing the problems you describe or whether they’re related – and I don’t know why our system did not recognize the serial number – so I recommend that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and guide you through any applicable troubleshooting. (Please note that because of restrictions on personal movement and workplace attendance associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, wait times for agents are longer than normal. Thanks in advance for your understanding.) To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:

      - Model number
      - Serial number
      - Your location
      - Case number (from any previous contact with HP support)

I'll also mention that HP printers have a one-year warranty from their purchase date that covers hardware as well as ink supplies, so if it comes to that, you might consider making use of it. You can verify the warranty using the following link: support.hp.com/us-en/checkwarranty

The printer I ordered came very quickly. I unpacked it completely. There were several flyer type pages, but only one "quick start-up" brochure included. I was able to get the printer up and running and print a test page. However, I didn't have clue to which buttons did what, as there was no manual included. I went on-line and searched HP for an opportunity to order a booklet, but the only thing available was a booklet on line and a print option...too many pages. I did find a video which explained what was what. My previous "Brother" printer had better quality.

We don't pump-out many documents but the included scanner is used to copy document a lot. Just download the Scan app from Microsoft Store for Windows 10 and you can easily scan and save document and image files to your computer. Nice printer, so far.

Overall, I really like this printer. I do feel like you use a lot of ink and paper when setting it up for the first time. It prints out instructions and passwords and it usually takes a couple of times. Once it's set up it serves it purpose.

      Hi there.

Thanks for the review and the feedback. While I’m glad you like your printer’s print quality, I’m sorry the device has gone offline so often. I can certainly understand why needing to reboot every time you need to print would quickly become exasperating. With that in mind, I’ll provide some resources I hope will help you resolve the situation.

First, I recommend you visit a page on our support site that has diagnostic tools for various issues, including printer-offline difficulties. You can find that page here:

Don’t buy. The new ink cartridges don’t last long at all. I don’t know, but I had to buy new ink every few weeks. I don’t use the printer anymore. Either they had a bad batch of print cartridges for a few months straight or they dropped the ink down to the level of a starter cartridge that used to come with new printers to make more money. Plus they require you to sign up to their service just to print. I simply bought a cannon printer and don’t seem to have the same problem at all!

      Hi, Mark.

I’m sorry to learn that you’ve had an unsatisfying experience with your printer. I can certainly understand why needing to buy new ink cartridges every few weeks and being informed that you need to have an Instant Ink account to print if it's not what you prefer would be an unsettling combination. I want to help improve your experience and get the printer working to your satisfaction, so I’ll offer some clarifying information and resources I hope will reach that goal.

First, with Instant Ink, you choose a plan based on the number of pages you would like to print monthly. You are billed monthly at the end of each billing cycle. Replacement cartridges are shipped as needed based on usage, not by the month. However, the program is voluntary. If you are signed up, you can cancel whenever you’d like.

Next, the rate of ink consumption you report sounds concerning. I can’t tell from your review how much printing you do or how the cartridges’ estimated page yields compare with the results you’re seeing, but I believe it deserves further investigation. I suggest that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and determine the best course of action.
