This is a decent printer for occasinal printing or scanning. Worth the money. My only bad experience is with the HP Instant Ink subscription. You pay whether you use ink or not. If you exceed your subsrcibed printed pages in a month you pay exta, even if you didn't use any in previous months. If you cancel, the cartridge you paid for becomes unusable. Not a good value if you only print a few pages a month. Buy the printer if you just have some basic printing, forget the cartridge subscription.

When I use the printer with a cable connection, it works fine. But using the WiFi is at best spotty. I have to unplug and plug it back in if it goes idle for more than about 30 minutes. The print quality if pretty good for a mid range printer. The feed tray is a pain to load and only holds about 20 pages or so. It also requires you to take paper off the tray and reload to print double sided.

      Hi, Louis.

I’m sorry that your printer has not performed well, and that you’re dissatisfied with its paper capacity. The frequent unplugging and resetting you describe I’m sure would quickly become exasperating. I want to help you remedy this problem, so I’ll provide some resources I hope will make that happen.

First, I recommend that you visit a page on our support site that has diagnostic tools for various tasks and issues, including wireless connectivity and printer-offline difficulties. Visit that page here:
      - support.hp.com/us-en/topic/diagnostics

For more help with difficulties, or to learn more about your printer and all its features, you can access troubleshooting guides, how-to documents, the main user manual (where you’ll learn that the printer’s input capacity is 60 sheets) and software updates here:
      - support.hp.com/us-en/product/model/2100187854

If any problem persists, I suggest that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess what’s happening and find a solution. (Please note that because of restrictions on personal movement and workplace attendance associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, wait times for agents are longer than normal. Thanks in advance for your understanding.) To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:

      - Model number
      - Serial number
      - Your location
      - Case number (from any previous contact with HP support)

    Terrible

Garbage. I'm sitting here trying to connect it to the internet AGAIN, right now. Will take me 30 min to an hour I'm sure. Such a terrible product. Honestly. when it's working it's fast, but there are also issues with the paper placement. You will probably have to connect to the internet each and every time you use it, FYI (with my cannon it was one and done - so I absolutely hate this), it takes so long to sync it, The paper placement allows for maybe about 10 pages if you're lucky or it will almost certainly jam. If you get the 10 pages in, unless its perfectly straightened and just so when placing the paper in (which is difficult) it will jam. Because the printer is fast, it jams, even if slightly crooked. If it's perfectly straight, dont worry, the HP4100 will be sure to make it crooked, so it will jam up for you. Sufficed to say, you cannot win... It will jam constantly, and you'll waste a lot of paper and time... reprinting over and over. Along with going back and forth to sync - such a pain. I got wireless so I could have the printer in another room. Like I said, sometimes it works okay.... but, rarely. Pros - it looks pretty and the branding is HP so you assume it will be a good product.... nope. It's not pretty to me anymore, from the headaches and wasted time. Best buy and HP should discontinue this model. Maybe the few of us got bad products, but I highly doubt it. If you've had an excellent printer, like I did, you will hate this model. Anyway, I would not recommend this model, unless you rarely print. I am in school, so I print a lot.

      Hi there.

I’m sorry to hear that your printer has performed so poorly. I can certainly understand why issues related to connectivity, paper feeding and jams would be tremendously frustrating. We want our customers to have better experiences that what you’ve endured, so I’ll point you toward a resource and some information that I hope will help you resolve the situation.

I can’t tell from your review what’s causing these problems – especially the feeding issue you describe – so I recommend that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and find a solution. I'll also mention that HP printers have a one-year warranty from their purchase date that covers hardware as well as ink supplies, so if it comes to that, you might consider making use of it. You can verify the warranty using the following link:

This works well for me, I love it. It's does not take up too much space in the room. I print documents daily for my work and for my kids worksheets who are studying online, and there's no issue with it at all. We can print through my laptop and through our phones. It's easy to use and saves a lot of money with the Instant Ink! There's an included ink inside the box plus I got 2 months of free trial ink from HP. I highly recommend this for office and personal use!
