Better than Surface pro
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There is nothing that i cannot do with it. Faster processer than Surface pro(i3), more memory, more USB ports, larger screen and Surface pro does not have HDMI port. With Surface pro the Keyboard is not included but with this one, the Bluetooth Keyboard is included . This laptop completly replace m'y previous laptop. I strongly recommand this laptop than i can use like a Tablet.

Great within a limited scope
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a 5 year old 6 pound Dell XPS laptop and was ready for an upgrade! I read a ton of reviews before trying this laptop out for 15 days. Below is my experience. Days 1-5: Delighted - by how light, quick, and portable this laptop was. You can detach the keyboard with ease and have a tablet or keep it attached for a pseudo-laptop feel. Loved the core M processor, fan-less design, touchscreen, and magnetic keyboard, only drawback at this point was that some of the text on screen was low-res. Days 6 - 10: Not Lappable - Reality began to set in that this hybrid wasn't effective for what I would typically use it for. It simply wasn't "lappable." Using this on your lap is uncomfortable at best and impossible at worst. Placing it on anything but a firm surface created stability issues where the device wobbles. Days 7 - 15: I knew this wasn't a long-term solution for me. I began looking at alternatives and found the HP Spectre x360 to truly be the best of both words - lappable laptop but still tablet functionality. With that said, this was a very good device, but it takes a huge adjustment if you're a traditional laptop person or simply love the idea of being able to place your computer on your lap comfortably. Try freely, buy wisely!

Too many problems for this price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really wanted to like this, but in the end returned it. First the good: The specs are impressive (8GB RAM, 256 GB SSD, M processor).and generally it was responsive to touch input and fast doing email, internet, and general office work. For a laptop, I thought the speakers were reasonably good -- I usually expect to use auxillary speakers if I want great sound and that would be the case here too. The keyboard clicked into place easily, and the chiclet keys and backlighting were a bonus. The magnetic edges of the keyboard closed pretty securely onto the face of the tablet. Realistically though, due to the bendability of the keyboard, it can't be used on the lap---only a table/desk. It was a little heavy as a tablet but I expected that (2.7 lbs without keyboard and 4lbs with?). It connected quickly to my HP printer. Now the bad: The bluetooth keyboard constantly disconnected and I had to turn off the computer bluetooth and re-pair the two frequently. Sometimes it discovered the keyboard quickly, sometimes not. The wifi connection was problematic both before and after ugrading the drivers from HP. Frequent disconnection. Ultimately what I could not accept was the slow download speeds. I was averaging 8mbps download speeds, Any download of size took several minutes and got slower as it progressed. Upload speeds were 10 mbps--acceptable. I tested internet speed side-by-side with my old laptop and it was averaging 38mbps download speeds. No matter what I tried and no matter what repairs I tried to make via HP forums, nothing changed. The guy at BB blamed the processor but I'm not so sure it was that. If this was a $400 computer, I could live with some inconsistencies, but for twice that price, I expected more reliability. Returned it for a Lenovo Yoga 2 with i7 and 256 GB SSD and haven't been sorry.

ok computer, but touchpad needs improvement
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an ok computer. It is fast, has a good screen and is well equipped, with ample ram, storage, usb ports and a detachable bluetooth keyboard/touchpad. The price is right in comparison to a Microsoft Surface, especially when on sale for $800 at Best Buy. It is a little bit heavy (4 lbs) for a tablet. The deal breaker, however, is the touchpad. It is way too sensitive and difficult to control. While the keyboard is ok, any near approach to the touchpad sends the cursor off into another directions. Two hours on the phone with HP (technician and supervisor) and they were unable to find a way to adjust the sensitivity or turn it off. They tried the obvious things, but had little specific knowledge to this product. They did offer to return it for "repair". This isn't just our sample. Anyone thinking of buying this HP should search the web for other comments about the touchpad. See this review for example: http://www.pcpro.co.uk/tablets/1000278/hp-envy-x2-13 Not willing to risk sending the computer in for repair and having it come back with the same unusable touchpad, we returned the computer to Best Buy.

Nice machine
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was considering getting a Surface Pro 3, but when I saw this in Best Buy and compared the specs, this seemed like a much better bang for the buck. I've been really pleased with its performance and capabilities. Quick speed and great battery life. Had to contact HP customer support once when something caused the keyboard Bluetooth driver to malfunction. They were quite helpful in working it out. My only real complaint about the thing is that it is a bit heavy and the edges are somewhat sharp.

Nearly perfect
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This tablet PC is nearly perfect for my needs. Mostly web browsing, with media consumption (mainly netflix) and file management less important tasks for me. No speed issues with this device (reported on similar devices with the new Intel M processor). Boots up and shuts down in about 60 seconds. Battery life is about 6-7 hours for my use. Only gripe is the trackpad on the included bluetooth keyboard/screen cover is poorly responsive for web scrolling, though I primarily use it in Metro/Tablet mode.

If you're looking for a notebook, pass on this one
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off... windows 8.1 stinks (what I wanted to say isn't PC) Please give me an option to use windows 7!! This is NOT a notebook computer! Its a tablet with a floppy keyboard! in my first 20 minutes of use, it locked up trying to scroll forward through web pages on a top news site. Then trying to reset was also a joke. try to hit the windows button and nothing! even turning it on and off didn't work. it even locked up the keyboard and after removing the keyboard and re attaching it, it started working again. the speed of the computer is good... the SSD is the Bomb! but it wont work for me... its going back to the store today for return and im buying the comparable Lenovo that has a firm fold up style keyboard. heck.... even typing this review was an absolute nightmare on this lousy keyboard!! buy the Lenovo and save yourself some time!

Poor performance
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this unit on 1/1/15 and was so excited. The ease of use and tablet / computer configuration was great. Once I got it home reality set in - the magnet on the keyboard was a bit clunky but I could deal with that. What wasn't cool was my 4 year old HP laptop with 2GB of RAM outperforming this new unit trying to run web based programs. I ended up returning the HP unit and purchasing a Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro.

Pretty but glitchy...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was so enthralled when I saw this computer. It has a very stylish manly look to it...a brown keyboard with a leather backside ... very thin. All in all .. it's an oversized surface. Maybe I got a lemon but once I got everything set up the screen with jitter and have these random streaks. In reading up online there seems to be a lot of people going through the same thing. No one seemed to know a true fix -- just a lot of user specific work around. It was way too early to have any issues whatsoever with such a pricey machine. When it was working -- it was beautiful. It had an ample amount of USB ports and a HD port to expand out to another screen. The kick stand was nice -- netflix and other video services looked awesome. It was a nice big size to have an immersive viewing experience. I was literally in love - but the infatuation ended a week in. I returned it .... first time in my life returning a computer

Defective out of the box
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Out of the box the keyboard wouldn't pair with the tablet. HP techs fixed the pairing but then the touchpad wouldn't work. I have to return the whole unit for repair after less than 24 hours of ownership. HP's phone tech support is very poor as sometimes they can confirm my account with them, and other times not. The device itself seems slow and the touchscreen is jerky and often unresponsive. This was a very disappointing purchase...

From Star to Disapointment
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am revising my previous review where I gave 5 stars. This was based on the first three days of uneventful operation. On day 4 the Bluetooth stopped and disappeared. Since the keyboard is Bluetooth this is a problem. Reboots did nothing. After time on the phone and a dial-in from HP tech the drivers were reinstalled. The next day the WiFi was gone and it was looking for Ethernet connection. I packed it up and returned it and bought the Lenovo Yoga Pro 2 which has been trouble free.

Faulty Keyboard
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Beware this keyboard stopped working within the first month of purchase. I replaced with an i7 surface pro (which has its own issues of over heating) however this is too heavy in comparison with the surface pro 3 and then the keyboard stopped working almost instantly.

Good, could be better
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just bought it. It's good, high performance, but it could have better key boarding designer and color such as blue. Unfortunately, the only option are tan or gray.

Multiple hardware failures over 14 months
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.5 days after warranty lapsed, power connection built into failed motherboard failed. Had to replaced entire motherboard at own expense. Compactness comes at a price. 2 months later the keyboard failed.
