I don't know if there is just something wrong with mine, or if it's like this in general, but it's SO HARD to use the built in mouse/track-pad. It almost seems like I have a left-handed machine because everything is off center and uncomfortable to use. I absolutely hate it and I avoid using it at all costs (I use my HP desktop or an Apple laptop). It may just be mine (do they make left-handed ones?), so please check this out in person before you buy it. Unless you're left handed, and then it may be great for you. ps- I did adjust the computer settings to try to fix this, which helped slightly, but not enough.

Touch screen tech is great but overall? Parts of it frustrate me. Like being able to "left click" is now no longer an option for me. But the computer works fast, granted I got it at the best options. And it's new, but I'm getting use to it, however my computer just... randomly shut off and won't turn back on which is a worry. Wondering if anyone else has had this issue and if I too should be worried.

This laptop is lightning fast and does everything you need it to do and much more. It feels a bit large when folded into tablet form, but works great nonetheless. I highly recommend this to anyone who is a college student, office worker, or casual gamer.

Good Technology at a Great Value

I purchased this laptop to replace a previous HP i7 laptop. It has all the bells and whistles that I probably don't need, but the price was great and I got it on sale--so it was the best bang for the buck. I've only had it a few weeks, but I have had no problems with it except the learning curve that comes with Windows 8, which isn't as bad as I thought it would be. It's a great machine. Response time is good. What else can I say? It does the job I need. I've yet to use all the functions--I have to learn Windows 8 and I'm just not used to a touch screen, but to date, I'm happy with my purchase, would buy it again and would recommend it.

    Love this computer

I have had a few HP's and when shopping this last time, I got talked in to a Toshiba satellite. What a mistake. Cheap construction and keyboard was awful. So I went with a tried and true product- an HP- and although I do not usually get too excited about many tech products, I love this computer.and debated about spending the extra for the 2-in-1, especially since I wanted a 15" screen, but that feature is great. The keyboard is very user friendly and I love the touchscreen. I have heard a lot of negative comments about Windows 8, but do not quite understand all the issues. I have had none. My only complaint about this computer is the photos are grainy but that is what I have a camera for, and a smartphone.

    Love the Tablet feel

I enjoy the fact that I can touch the screen. It's exactly like a blown up phone or tablet. You could fold it over and have exactly a tablet, and yet you still have the functionality of a full blown laptop. It was a little expensive to be honest, but I don't regret it. I even purchased the geek squad warranty. They take care of the important things like internet protection, so I can have fun using the computer with no worries! I do have to say that there are a lot of updates when you first start off, but any Windows computer is the same.

I was fortunate to get this laptop on sale. I have found it to be dependable and does all it claims. It is fast with crisp screen. I use it alot for typing and using dragon speak for work. Also I do alot of skyping and conference calls with it.

    Great laptop

This laptop is super fast, light, and durable. It runs all of the programs I need (including AutoDesk products). I even spilled a decent amount of coffee on it and it still works after drying out (not that I'd recommend that because I still had to pay for repairs). Only slight complaint is that it takes a while to start up, which is reasonable because it doesn't have an SSD. I could not be happier with this laptop.

    Awesome Specs, Terrible Screen

    Posted .

I am an IT professional and software developer, and let me start with I KNOW MY TECH. This laptop offers great specs for the price, I mean an 5th gen i7, 12GB DDR3 RAM, 2-in-1 functionality for less than $1000... pretty awesome. I also purchased a 250GB SSD to replace the 1TB HDD with at time of purchase, I installed a fresh un-bloated copy of Windows 8.1 on this SSD and this laptop was now blazing fast (<10s cold boot time, and instant click gratification). All this was great, but there is one giant issue I could not get passed, THE SCREEN HAS VERTICAL LINES THROUGHOUT FROM THE TOUCH DESIGN. These vertical lines are not very visible when a bright solid color is displayed, however any light, or white backgrounds are very annoyingly overlayed by a ton of vertical lines. Plus the viewing angles are horrific. I really don't know what the hell HP was thinking here. But I am now going to purchase a Thinkpad Carbon.

    Solid performance

I was a bit sceptical of 2-in-1 units, did a lot of research, compared between HPs, Toshibas, Lenovos and others and after MUCH MUCH research I found that this unit which was within my budget (under 1K) had an i7 5th gen processor, 1TB (which I hoped for a SSD or atleast a hybrid drive), 12GB RAM. I use it to run virtual machines, run photoshop software amongst other normal day to day tasks. it has a solid performance, wakes up from sleep in a blink of an eye and cold startup is quick too. the touch is wonderful too, my daughter loves the touch games on it and I love to flip it to a tab mode and browse my pictures, watch presentations and even read books. I would definitely recommend this unit. if youre a person who is looking for more speed, get this and upgrade the hard drive to a SSD!

Really terrible screen. The viewing angles are just terrible, and like another person said there are faint but visible lines running through the screen that are noticeable on white backgrounds. I think HP just decided to go cheap on the screen. Go in a best buy and compare it side by side to other laptops and you will see. It also seems very slow for the hardware specs. Could be the old school 5400rpm HDD slowing it down, but it seems slow even compared to a budget laptop I own. For being the newest generation I7 with 12gb ram it should not be such a slug. Seems to take way too long to boot up also. As far as the build overall it seems a little chintzy and plasticy. Really not very impressed with it and can't recommend it from my experience. HP has some models I like, but this isn't one of them...

Terrible experience. The screen is terrible, there is not an angle where the screen isn't faint. I wanted the bigger screen for optimum viewing and I use windows all the time at work so I figured I was ready for a change form Apple. The screen is big. I thought the screen seemed faint on the display, however I was told it was probably the fact that is was a display model, or lighting in that section where it was connected, and that I did have time to return it after trying it out. And I figured with the HP reputation and specs it would be an exceptional laptop. It's not even close.... It also seems very slow for the hardware specs. This is totally confusing for me. After researching the specs for the newer laptops it should be excellent. It is SO SLOW that I find resorting back to my old ipad or my phone, both of which are light speeds faster and much better viewing clarity but smaller screens. For being the newest generation (5th) I7 with 12gb ram it should not be so sluggish. As far as the build overall it is heavy, and awkward to change positions on it. Hard to open it up, no real place for your fingers to grab. Really not impressed with it at all and can't recommend it from my experience. I really expected more from a HP product. Extremely disappointed and looking forward to returning it as soon as I can get to a store... :/ BAD experience I've had it two weeks. Two weeks too long. Real waste of time, energy and money.

You can't type on this laptop. The stupid track pad is too large and does not work properly so my screen is constantly getting reduced and my cursor jumps all over the place. Changing the settings doesn't help. The trackpad also does not work properly with Chrome. I returned this and purchased a Toshiba. It works much better.

The control Zone mouse is extremely poor. I can't copy or paste . Whenever I hit the right side of the mouse it takes me to the desk top. I purchased this for my Doctoral Degree to Support Word University 360 I have wasted way too much time correcting papers because the curser continually jumps. Even as I type this I have had to make 6 corrections. Using an electronic mouse helps the cut and paste problem but the jumping curser is a royal pain!!!!! Expensive Mistake.
