Should have known by the price...splurge and get the nicer one. Burns through ink like crazy. Essentially another disposable printer for a later garage sale.

Got this on sale for $50 because I needed a scanner. Scanner is OK, reasonable quality. HP software works well on my Mac. Printer quality is subpar, not sure if this needs to be re-calibrated.

      Hey Drew,

It's great to hear about the scanner and software working well, but I'm so sorry that you've been disappointed with the print quality. We hold ourselves to a much higher standard in that regard, so I regret that we fell short. I want to make sure this gets resolved, so let's see how I can help.

First, you're indeed right in that the printer does need to be re-calibrated in a sense. What I'd suggest for this is taking the steps in the following print quality improvement guide: support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05538986

Should this fall short, please don't hesitate to reach out for support. We're always here to help, so you can contact us anytime via your preferred method at this link: hp.com/contactHP

So disappointed. The test sheet jammed and that was it!! I couldn’t get it to work after that. I was able to clear the jam completely but it kept saying it was jammed. I looked everywhere and nothing. I gave up! If the 1st sheet jams and causes issues, just means that’s what I will get

Every time I need to print I have to take the cartridges out and place them back in, sometimes twice, so much for being able to print remotely. I literally have to be at the printer to take the cartridges out and place them back in EVERY time I want to print. I also have received a message that the cartridges are not compatible, they are what the printer came with. Also it uses ink incredibly fast.

      Hey there,

I'm sorry to hear you've had some difficulties connecting your printer to the device you're trying to print from. I understand how inconvenient this must be, so I assure you we'll do everything we can to make this right. To start, I have some helpful suggestions you can try.

First, I do want to clarify that this printer connects wirelessly instead of by Bluetooth, so I'm sorry for any confusion around that feature. With that said, I recommend one of the following options for a more seamless wireless setup after resetting the printer:
      - Download and use the HP Smart app from either a mobile device or computer within the first 2 hours of powering on the printer
      - Download HP Easy Start for a step-by-step wireless walkthrough: 123.hp.com/us/en/devices/envy5055
      - Download and run through the printer's full software package: support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/model/14095768

As a supplement to that, the following link will help guide you through solutions to a wide range of general wireless issues: hp.dezide.com/ts/start.jsp?guide=Printer_Does_Not_Maintain_Wireless_Connection.net

If the connectivity issues persist, please don't hesitate to contact us for support. We would be more than happy to troubleshoot this further with you. You can get in touch with us anytime via your preferred method: hp.com/contactHP

I got this as backup in case my older Envy 5530 printer would start having issues. I absolutely love the 5530. This printer was nothing like my old Envy. The display was not in color, the screen was so small & light in color that I could hardly see it. No extra features to print forms or other printables and no memory card slot. There are settings for different paper sizes & types but printing must be done through the HP smart app, which I find only works sometimes. The ink cartridges were a bit hard to put it. Instant ink is available for this printer too & I already subscribe to it, I recommend it as the ink is mailed to your door at a low monthly cost depending how much you print. The paper tray kept jamming when I closed it. .Everday paper prints were good & printed pretty quick. Photos were ok. If you’re looking for just a basic printer then this should be fine but I’d recommend paying a little more & getting a better model with more features.

This printer eats ink faster than any other printer I have owned. It does print fast which is a plus. But the amount of ink this thing runs through- It’s now an ornament in my storage.

      Hi there,

I'm so sorry to hear that you aren't happy with the printer's ink usage. We're certainly committed to providing an efficient experience with our printers, so I can imagine how disappointing this must be. With that said, let's see what I can do to help.

If you haven't already, you might consider using the printer's draft mode or black and white settings to save ink. If you have and are still using quite a bit, Instant Ink might just be worth a try. Many customers like our available plans. They're based on how many pages you print monthly, ultimately saving you money: HPinstantink.com

Thing never worked while we had it. Tried setting it up on the app using my phone and it just deceided to not work at all. Got it working after almost AN HOUR of fighting with it for about 3 minutes. After that, it NEVER worked properly. Promptly returned it for a different brand of printer! Have never been so disappointed with an HP Printer like this before in my life. Terrible.

I'd give it zero stars if possible. This printer is terrible. Paper jams at least once an hour and I only print 20 pages a day. Unfortunately I was out of town the first two weeks of having it, so by the time I experienced how terrible it was, it was too late to return.

I was pretty disappointed but I guess you get what you pay for, eh? I set it up in minutes and every single print job I sent to it would jam. It was like the printer wanted to print the page too fast for it's own good. I tried everything in terms of the support on HP website. Gave up and sent it back. I'd stay away even though many have had success with it.

      Hi, Hope.

I’m sorry to hear that your printer is going through more ink than you had anticipated. Although I can’t tell from your review approximately how many pages you’ve been getting per cartridge compared with the page-yield estimates, I’ll provide some information I hope will help.

Here are some things you can consider:
      - If it appears that a cartridge was low on ink to begin with, or that the poor page yield was caused by a defective cartridge, you can always contact the seller who sent you the cartridge about that.
      - Contact us if the supplies are defective genuine cartridges that are not replaced by the vendor (and they are still within the “warranty ends” date on the cartridges). Reach out to us via this link: support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp

Here are some facts on ink use that might help you get more prints without too much extra effort:
      - A high-density print (such as an image or graph) uses ink more quickly than a text-only document, particularly if the paper is highly absorbent and the environment is dry.
      - Using the draft and black only settings on your printer can help save on ink, particularly the colors.
      - Shutting the printer down between uses can result in some savings. However, always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That will let the printer to 'park' so that the nozzles that spray the ink onto the paper are protected from excess drying.

If the problem persists, I recommend that you reach out to us so we can help you assess the situation and work through any necessary troubleshooting with you. Get in touch via your preferred method at this link: hp.com/contactHP
