High Hopes
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been so disappointed in this printer. I have had several HP printers and this one is less than worthless. I purchased it in August and immediately had problems. I tried to get assistance from HP with their virtual help. I spent several hours in fact, but it sent me in circles with no living person in sight, but it said I could send an email, hurray for that. Finally, I went back to Best Buy (at least 2 times). They gave me the phone number for HP customer service. I was finally able to talk to a living person and they were able to help me get it working. It worked for a very short time. Since then I have had to contact the Geek Squad every time the printer has been used 2 or 3 times. I was on the phone with the Geek Squad yesterday and today. Both times they got it to print. When I hung up and wanted to print a document about 5 minutes later, GUESS WHAT! It would not print instead I get the same printer error. Now I hardly ever give a bad review, but I would have given a zero had it been a choice. I did notice the star ratings from other buyers and can't understand it. I am happy for those who purchased a good printer. I guess I got the LEMON. Good luck to you if you pick this model. Buyer beware is my recommendation.

Posted .Hey Mimi,
I'm incredibly sorry that your experience with the printer has been less than consistent so far. I can fully understand how inconvenient this all has been, so I want to make sure that we make this right. Let's see how I can help.
The first thing I'd like to mention is that HP printers generally have a 1-year warranty from their date of purchase. You can make use of it to arrange for a repair or replacement, as long as your warranty is active. To verify this, you can visit this link: support.hp.com/checkwarranty
If your printer is indeed under warranty, I recommend contacting us for support. We'd be more than happy to discuss a replacement. You can give us a call at +1 800-474-6836 between the hours of 8 am - 9 pm ET. To expedite the process a bit, you can gather this information beforehand:
- Model number
- Serial number
- Your location
- Your case number (from prior contact with support)
We look forward to making this right!

Has Never Worked
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Looks like I'm in the minority here - this printer has good reviews, which is why I bought it in the first place, but, for me, it has never worked well. At first we thought it was an internet-wireless-connectivity issue, but then we upgraded our capabilities on that end and we still had problems with the printer. It does not connect. Does not print well. It says it has problems with ink cartridges that are brand new. Frankly, even if it was not having those issues, I have come to find I would not like this printer. It barely holds any paper. It does not let you load in multiple pages to scan - you have to scan each independently. It is just not something I would buy again, or recommend. I rarely review products, but my experience with this one was so poor that I felt compelled to do so. I still have 9 months left on the warranty - unfortunately I missed the Best Buy return window - but I am trying to get HP to take it back.

Posted .Hey Eddy,
I'm really sorry to hear that the printer hasn't been working consistently for you. I can certainly understand how disappointing this has been, given the reviews you read. I'd really like to get this resolved for you, so let's see how I can help.
First, for the issue of wireless connectivity, it's a good idea to look over the steps in this 'Offline Printer' document:
- Windows: support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04249080
- Mac: support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04249334
As a supplement to this, the following link will guide you through solutions for a wide range of other wireless issues: support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05368548
As far as the other issues go, and considering your printer is still under warranty, what I'd recommend is reaching out to us for support so we can go through some troubleshooting with you. Alternatively, when you contact us, we can arrange for a replacement printer if it's needed. You can reach out to us via phone or another desired method at this link: hp.com/contactHP
We look forward to making this right!

Crashes Daily
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my second replacement 5055 in the past week and it also crashes every day with the same error screen and will not work. oxd8077900 kernel_exec_st Hp support keeps telling me they dont know what this error means but I must have gotten a few bad printers so I am headed back up today for the 3rd replacement. I dont know if it's this new ink program or what but the fact it doesnt last a day and I have to keep calling support and getting replacements tells me the product or software is junk. I'm really surprised HP has no clue what this error code is and the only answer is to continuously replace the printer. If this 3rd one works, then maybe I'll come back and update this but having spent over 3 hours on the phone with support so far, I'm starting to think I made a mistake going with HP and should stop wasting my time. Buyer beware.

Posted .Hello Ricky,
I am sorry to hear that you had this happening to you! It is rather unusual and seems to be a compatibility problem with your router. To help the situation, you need to disable the IPV6 option on your printer:
1. Click SETUP from control panel.
2. Select “Network Setup”
3. Select “Advance Settings”
4. Turn off IPv6
5. Click Yes
I sincerely hope that everything goes all right with your new printer. However, if there is anything else that we can help you with, you can always contact us: hp.com/contactHP
One of our HP employees is reaching out to you via email for resolution. Please be on the lookout for an email.

intermittent Garbled Print
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Setup was pretty easy and seems to be a nice printer. That is,When it prints. Some docs just come out with gibberish. Sometimes it works great and other times it just gibberish and smears. Very flakey. I would avoid this printer.

Posted .Hi there,
It's great to hear that you found the setup process easy, but I'm so sorry that some of your documents have been printing with said gibberish. The print quality you mentioned is far below the standard we hold to ourselves and our printers, so I want to make sure we get this resolved for you.
What I'd first suggest is taking the steps in this print quality improvement guide: support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05538986
If this doesn't improve the quality of your prints, please let us know so we can explore other solutions. You can reach out to us anytime via your preferred method at this link: hp.com/contactHP

Ok for what it is
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Printer works great initially after the ridiculous setup and linking process. But if you move, change internet provider, or deal with instant ink replacement it won’t work. Won’t print. HP can’t help over phone either. Over 2 hours between on hold and trouble shooting that was worthless. Took back to store and they can’t process a warranty even though bought through Best Buy and had 1 year manufacture warranty. Between the trouble and headaches Best But has lost customer permanently and so has HP. Would not recommend unless you want an inexpensive throw away printer.

Noisy, not easy to use touch screen
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very noisy, touch screen is very small and hard to easily select option, cannot select SCAN option from touch screen (need to use computer to select SCAN option), seems to be cheaper quality. Won't currently print anything in black ink (probably a cartridge issue). Ink is very expensive to buy (previously had a Canon and was able to find much cheaper ink). Instructions on how to use instant ink process didn't seem to work. If you want a very cheap, basic printer, then this may be okay - but be prepared to pay for the ink.

Worst printer ever!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this for use at home for work related items. I don't have to print much at home. If I have a large printing job I'll do it at work. I probably print/copy roughly 20-25 pages per week. In the 6 months Ive had this printer, I've had to replace the BLACK ink cartridge TWICE already! Keep in mind, Covid took place for 3 of the 6 months so I wasn't doing any printing/copying at all for 3 of the 6 months! HP tells you the original cartridges that are sold with the printer are not FULL cartridges-so those lasted about one week. whatever. Then I go buy the replacement at Target, and it wasn't cheap! That BLACK ink cartridge was suppose to last longer. It was supposedly bigger than a regular sized one. Well that did not prove true. This cartridge lasted less than one month! So I told myself never buy one of those "Bigger, Longer Lasting" cartridges again! They proved to be junk. They cost more and didn't last. I blamed the ink cartridge. So I go purchase yet another BLACK ink cartridge! This time I made sure my printer was set to "draft" quality. Yet, this one printed/copied even less than the first one! I refrained from throwing this hunk of junk HP Envy printer out of my home office window in fear I'd hit the neighbor kid. I swear on my old Epson computer, to NEVER, EVER, EVER purchase another HP product!!!!! It is just garbage. I can't even give it away.

Worst purchase ever
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this after my old hp printer started having some issues. Thought it would be a nice upgrade as my previous one was about 5 years old. Big mistake. I have had nothing but problems with this laptop. I had to send out for a replacement after only two months of use because the black ink just stopped working. That was not even a month ago. Here I am again having the exact same problem. I use only hp ink. I don’t even know what to do at this point. I see a lot of shotty reviews on so many printers I don’t even know what would be best to replace this with. Definitely done with HP no matter what. Absolute garbage

Posted .Hi there,
I'm so sorry that the printer stopped working for you, especially as it was meant to replace the first printer with the same issue. We always prioritize providing a reliable experience with our printers, so there's certainly no excuse for it. To that end, I'd really like to make sure that we make this right.
One resource you might consider looking into is this guide that tackles issues with not being able to print in black: support.hp.com/document/c05538986
Otherwise, I really hope you'll consider reaching out to us for support one more time. Though the first attempt wasn't very successful, we’d be grateful for another opportunity to work through this with you. You can give us a call at +1 800-474-6836 between the hours of 8 am - 9 pm ET. To speed up the process a bit, I recommend gathering this information:

Spending a fortune on ink
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this a few months ago and only use it moderately. Yet cartridges run out of ink very quickly (once had to replace cartridge twice in one week). It would have been much more cost-effective to buy a more expensive and reliable printer. The printer always checks that the cartridges are "original" (which they are) and sometimes gives "low ink" message for new cartridges. Also, the printer will often spit out multiple partial pages, wasting even more ink and paper.

Posted .Hey there,
I'm so sorry to hear you've been unhappy with the printer's ink consumption. We're certainly committed to providing a much more economical experience with our printers, so I can imagine how disappointing this is. With that said, I'd like to see how I can help with some improvements.
First, I have a few suggestions for lowering overall ink consumption. To start, I recommend using the printer's draft mode, as this can often improve ink usage. Following that, you could also set the printer to print black and white only. If you still find you're using quite a bit, Instant Ink is another option to consider. Many customers like our available plans, as they're based on how many pages you print monthly. If your printer usage is minimal, Instant Ink also offers a subscription plan that allows you to print 15 pages a month for free. For more details, you can visit this link: HPinstantink.com
If you have any other questions about this, please remember you can reach out to us for support anytime. We're always happy to help. You can contact us directly via your preferred method at this link: hp.com/contactHP

Disposable Printer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We bought the HP ENVY 5055 because it was inexpensive and because I believed HP to be a quality product. Ever since taking it out of the box and setting it up, it displays error codes every 3-10 minutes. I cannot find the displayed error codes anywhere in our documentation or online. I tried to chat with an HP representative, but there was no representative. Their chat is nothing more than poorly written help documentation. I have probably printed around 100 pages with this printer. I estimate about half of those to be messed up. I have gone through 3 cartridges so far (2 tri color and 1 black) And now the cartridges will not align. This is by far the worst printer I have ever used or owned.

Garbage
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this because of the 4,200+ glowing reviews about it's wi-fi capabilities and color printing. At first all was good. I used it a couple times and didn't have any issue. Four months later, this thing has continuous connection issues. Even when the error page pops up and prompts me to 'fix' the issue, with optional updates, it goes right back to doing what it does best - not work. The touch screen is about the only thing that does work. Save your money - heck, spend MORE - and buy something else. You'll be glad you did. I own an older model Canon MF3010 that I bought for about $80 in 2015 (Amazon). I've printed thousands of pages with it and have only changed the ink maybe three of four times. It doesn't do color or double-sided printing but it's a great Plan B for times like this.

Magnifying Content. Wasting Costly Pages.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Already wasting pages on printing. A simple PowerPt Sheet with a series of pictures on the sheet are being magnified and cut off from the page when printed. Their customer service line is unable to help & insists it is a computer issue. Didn't have this issue with previous printer. May be returning the Envy, if the issue cannot be fixed.

Posted .Hi Robbie,
I'm sorry to hear that you've had some difficulties with prints that are being magnified and cut off. I can imagine this has been quite counterproductive, so I want to make sure we get this resolved for you.
What I first recommend is downloading the printer's full feature software and drivers from the following link, as this often remedies issues of this nature. You can do so via this link: 123.hp.com/us/en/devices/envy5055
I also recommend downloading and running the HP Print and Scan Doctor diagnostic tool: support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03286146
If this doesn't fix things, I hope you'll consider contacting us for support again. We're always here to help and would love to make this right.

Worse printer yet !
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This printer contstantly fails to connect via USB or wirelessly to my iMac desktops.
