Do NOT Buy this printer or any HP!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The printer looks great and fit my space perfectly. I set ii up with the USB Cable, inserted the cartridges, it ran the test page without an issue and then I get a warning to reinsert the color cartridge. I tried repeatedly and it wouldn't recognize that it was inserted. I should have listened to the other reviews that said this printer is defective. What has happened to HP!? I was trying to replace another recently bought HP printer that worked but took forever to start printing and made odd noises and flashing lights. I don't want a show, i want to print! I'm done with HP after more than 2 decades of only buying this brand. I am going to wait for an Epson to go on sale and they will be my brand from now on as long as it's more reliable than this HP piece of crap.

Disaster; only printed less than 25 pages and done
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Received the printer and had to use tech support to set up. HP tech support said Best Buy sold us a discontinued model. They set us up with instant ink program. We received the new cartridges and one was bad. The printer also would not print because it had a message that we were not enrolled in the ink program, which we are and you even have our credit card. The replacement is on the way and wehave left for the holidays on a monthlong trip. This needs to be resolved SOON!

Good printer. Nightmare scanner.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The printer is great. It's the scanner that's the nightmare. I see the 5 star reviews and cannot believe it. People are posting based on the printer. You will have issues with scanner. I was warned and bought anyway thinking it couldn't be as hard as I was told, it was worst than I was told.

Posted .Hi, Janine.
Thanks for the review and the feedback. While I’m glad you like the print function of your new all-in-one device, I’m sorry that you’ve found the scanner so problematic. I can certainly understand why that would be frustrating, especially if scanning is a big part of why you got the printer. I want to help you have a better experience, so I’ll provide some resources and information I hope will make that happen.
First, I recommend you visit a page on our support site that has diagnostic tools for various problems, including scanner issues. There you’ll find a general-purpose tool called the HP Print and Scan Doctor. If you use Windows, the tool will help identify and guide you through solutions to a wide range of common scanning as well as printing issues. Visit that page here:
- support.hp.com/us-en/topic/diagnostics
You might also gain useful information from a guide to scanning with HP printers you’ll find on our support site. It includes instructions for various desktop and mobile operating systems as well as an FAQ section:
- support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_2275901-2074064-16
Next, you can find troubleshooting guides specific to your printer (including ones on scanning) as well as user manuals, how-to documents and other materials here:
- support.hp.com/us-en/product/model/16493624
If any problem persists, I suggest that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and find a solution. (Please note that because of restrictions on personal movement and workplace attendance associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, wait times for agents are longer than normal. Thanks in advance for your understanding.) To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:
- Model number
- Serial number
- Your location

HP Ink ... seriously?
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Printer missing ink. Had to jump through hoops to get HP to send ink. Ink will take weeks to arrive so I bought MORE ink so I can start printing. The copier will not accept those cartridges... it insists on the "Setup" cartridges before setup can be completed. Back into the box it goes and I shall never purchase an HP product again... great job HP!

Dead on arrival
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Didn’t work straight out of the box. Had a blue screen with an error code and all lights flashing. and it turns out the scanner head didn’t move or was jammed, and it bricked the printer before I could even set it up. Had to return in store and find something else and paid double the price because this was on sale.

Do NOT Buy
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Do not waste your money on this printer. I have had nothing but problems. I have to keep going through a convoluted process because it will not print colors. Today I gave up after 20 minutes waiting for it to clean the heads. I don't use it often, but it would be nice if it worked when I did.

HP - BestBuy - Inconsiderate.
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Unfortunately, the product came without any ink it. I was then told by both HP and Best Buy, do bring the printer back instead of them just sending me the ink. Not taking in consideration at all how challenging travel might be.

Disappointing printer purchase
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Unimpressive printer. Thought I was upgrading from previous printer but did not. Has two cartridge rather than 4 system. Print is faint, red fonts are orange. IOS printing will only print black & white. Have to use smart app to print in color. As I said, very unimpressive.

Super Poor support from Hp with my setup problem.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The ink provided with this product caused an error message that said the cartridges could not be used to initiate setup of the printer. Posted .Hi there.
I’m sorry to learn that you’ve encountered difficulty after your purchase. I can’t tell from your review precisely what roadblocks you’ve hit that are related to the printer, but I’ll nonetheless offer some clarifying information and a resource that I hope will help you resolve the situation.
In your review, you mention that Adobe Photoshop is not working. That’s a computer application and is not part of the HP software associated with this printer. As for popups, some offers and reminders do show up in HP printer software, but they do not require payment to let customers use the device.
I recommend that if you’ve bought an HP ENVY 7858 printer and you’re experiencing software difficulty that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and find a solution.
