Fan Noise Solved
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this on Black Friday and immediately noticed the fan was very loud compared to other laptops I have owned. After several days, I decided to return it before I spent more time loading software, doc, photos, etc. Before doing so I searched for a solution. I found the guidance below in a forum and it greatly reduced the problem. Go into power options. Click "Change plan settings" of which ever power plan you use. Select "Change advanced power settings." Expand "Processor power management." Expand "System cooling policy." Change "On battery" and "Plugged in" to "Passive." For added measure, you can lower the "Maximum processor state" "On battery" and "Plugged in" to 75% and 90%, respectively. The fan will still blow, but with much less intensity.

A great configuration for an awesome price.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Youtube Video Unboxing Review: https://youtu.be/OVBBub4a_n8 I got this a few weeks back when it was on sale for 799 which was a good price. The laptop has a solid construction with no flex on the keyboard and it is very comfortable to type on. The touchpad is actually really good. The touch screen accurate and responsive. I have really been enjoying this laptop a lot because of the 360 rotation. It is great to watch movies in tent mode or tablet mode on the sofa. It runs all of my programs with ease. I use Autocad, Adobe premiere pro, photoshop, power director 14 and have had no issues with the laptop overheating. I installed a Samsung 850 Evo SSD and it is blazing fast at fetching files, booting up the system and other programs. The only issue so far is the volume rocker on the side is flushed and so it is a bit difficlult to press at times.

Awesome college laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was my first laptop I bought. I got it for college in summer of 2015. I've been using it every single day for classes since then (it is now spring 2017). This laptop has been through the wringer and still operates like brand new. Of the 2 years I've had it, I have maybe had to force shut down due to some type of freeze two times. Neither time was an inconvenience. Interestingly, I thought I would never use the volume buttons on the side, but I ended up finding them really useful if I was streaming TV on my laptop I could just reach and push the buttons instead of using the trackpad. Of course, I wish it were a little lighter, but it is a big screened laptop so I'm not really complaining about that. It's light for it's size. I am able to run a dozen or so programs at once with absolutely no slow-down and it handles moderately intense gaming, like Elder Scrolls: Skyrim and Elder Scrolls Online. I also like how the keys are, it's a small thing but the keys are easy to type on which is nice for when I'm writing papers.

Great laptop for schoolwork and light gaming
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop today and it's great! The i7-7500u processor makes multitasking a breeze and the 16gb of DDR4 RAM is amazing. It has 1 USB slot on the right hand side and 1 on the left hand side as well as 1 HDMI port, an SD card reader, a USB-C port, a charging port, an audio device port, and a button that I don't know the name of. The keyboard is pretty good and is backlit for those late-night study sessions. The touchpad is OK but I recommend using a wireless mouse with this laptop. This laptop can handle very, very light gaming. It's great for schoolwork and other uses that don't involve gaming. I wholeheartedly recommend buying this laptop.

Awesome for Work
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I actually was interested in the Spectre 360 and the Envy 360. Because the Spectre I wanted was out of my price range, I settled for the Envy 360. I used to have an ASUS 15.6" laptop (U56E), Intel Core i5, 6GB memory, with not so good graphics and the sound was absolutely horrible, and Windows 7 which I updated to Windows 10. My first computer ever was HP. Then I deviated to ASUS and I can tell you that not having a Windows Backup Image made my school life very difficult when my computer didn’t want to work anymore and it would not recognize the OS on my ASUS. I had to get my computer wiped and reinstalled with the Windows OS twice by Best Buy. Before Best Buy, I tried ASUS Customer Care and I had a disk that was supposed to recover my ASUS, but did not. Then, I ended up breaking the plastic where my power cord would be held into and that ended effectively charging the ASUS computer battery. I even ordered an aftermarket battery charger for my ASUS through Amazon but I couldn’t use my computer while it was charging and after 3-4 years of the computer usage, the battery life wasn’t so good anymore. I finally decided it was time for an upgrade and I needed a computer for school. The main issue I have with the Envy 360 is that the sound could be louder. I can definitely say, compared to my ASUS, the sound is AMAZING and I can hear it across the room. I wanted the Spectre because of the quad speakers and the Envy only has dual speakers. Also with the sound, if it is quiet in the room, then the sound is heard. With kids in the picture, sometimes their voices will drown out my computer's sound. Of course, sound is also dependent on the quality and loudness of the video online. So if a YouTube video is being recorded and the sound is quality is off, then turning up the computer volume will only do so much for it. But with headphones, the sound solves itself. I haven't needed to turn my volume on max for my headphones. But I didn’t want the Spectre because if I wanted more free space with the Spectre’s SSD, I would have to pay more to store my videos, music, and pictures. The videos are the ones that take up much of my space. I actually had a 1TB HHD installed in my ASUS before I recycled everything, and I liked the thought of having another 1TB hard drive again. I have a 4TB non-portable, external hard drive that I store all the files that I do not use immediately or often. When I have my computer opened in a thin V-shape with the window facing me and the keyboard facing away from me (tent mode), the sound isn't as good. The sound is faced in the opposite direction of my viewing window so I usually turn it louder when I’m streaming videos or watching movies. That takes away from hearing it as crisp as I would like. I don’t usually flip my screen all the way back so the keyboard is on the bottom to use it in tablet mode. I have an Apple tablet that if I want to use it in tablet mode, I can do that. Plus, I believe the fan vent is on the bottom of the computer, so I don’t like to cover it up (maybe I fear for nothing). I want my computer to be able to able to get air flowing and to be able to dissipate hot air properly. The Envy does scratch very easily. I would like to find a skin cover for it because scratches make my computer look like I have had it for months and months when I bought my computer last year in December 2016. I have bought a case for my laptop but I will definitely need a laptop skin. I would love for the computer to have another USB port on the left side of the computer. I don’t like having a USB port right next to where it is being charged, since where it plugs in, it tees off. Good thing I don’t use the HDMI port or haven’t used the HDMI port yet. With older TVs in the classrooms, they still have the VGA connections so unfortunately, I wasn’t able to connect my computer without an adapter. And that being said, I haven’t use my Type-C port at all…but then I don’t have the adapters to use it with my other devices…yet. I am pretty happy with my Envy so far. I like to have multiple windows open, programs and internet windows and tabs, and the Envy handles it pretty well. I love the fast start up. I decided to also buy a portable DVD player along with my Envy. And I’m glad I did because I rent Redbox movies and I play them on my computer. The Envy I have doesn’t have the 4K resolution but I am quite happy with the Full HD resolution. Maybe in the future when I can splurge on a computer I will buy a computer with an awesome graphics card, quad speakers, at least 12GB of memory, 4K resolution, and tons of storage. One feature I love about the Envy is the backlit keyboard. I didn’t have that on my ASUS or I don’t remember having it. Many times, I am in the dark streaming videos so I like that I can turn on the backlit keyboard and enter in whatever I need. The computer, in and out of tablet mode, does have the option of an on-screen keyboard, but when I’m typing in dim lighting, I use the keyboard. I have not had any issues adjusting my volume while my lock screen was on, or while my headphones were plugged in. I use the keys to adjust my volume when my lock screen is on and the volume adjusts. When I’m logged in, I use the keys or I use the volume control at the bottom right of the screen. I just found out yesterday that there is also a volume control on the left side of the computer next to the headphone jack. Overall, I use my Envy for school, work, and entertainment. I would recommend this to a friend if she/he wants a great computer to do school work on. But I would let them know to buy a skin for the laptop since it scratches easily. Also, my computers tends to break down after 2 years, so I would recommend extended warranties for computers that cover in excess of two years.

Excellent laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this laptop on sale before Christmas and have been using it for several months now. This has been a great laptop so far. With 16GB of ram it can handle anything you can throw at it. My daughter does some engineering work and programs run great. The touch screen is awesome, and the ability to rotate the screen to tablet mode is great. At over 15 inches it is a big laptop so it is not super portable. The power and volume switches are on the side, so on occasion when adjusting the laptop on the desk, or holding it in tablet mode, I have hit those buttons causing accidental adjustments or putting the computer to sleep. This is something I can get used to, but a minor annoyance. Overall this had been a great laptop and we've been very happy with the purchase.

STOP LOOKING AND BUY THIS ONE!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So my coworker and I were looking for a laptop that would satisfy our varied needs for a computer. He's a gamer and I'm a graphic/web designer. We needed processing power and lots of punch. Being that we both work in entry-level IT, we also needed value, well I needed dirt cheap. Enter BestBuy's cyber week deals and this laptop. We were both looking to snag an upgraded laptop and this beauty went on sale for $599. Was it worth the 2-hr drive to the only Best Buy in D/FW that had 2 in-stock? Heck yes. This guy has taken ALL I have thrown at it and I haven't been kind at all! Remote tech support sessions, building websites, streaming, Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and After-Effects ALL OPEN AT THE SAME TIME! It only lagged on me once. Believe me, it usually takes a Mac to make me happy, but this laptop has done it. Nice at twice the price. The only minor complaint, if I do have one is that I wish the keys were backlit. I would be in laptop heaven. Don't stress about not having SSD drive. I don't miss it with the 7200 rpm 1TB inside. I also don't miss running out of space and having to push files to external storage because my 256GB SSD is full, again! Treat yourself to this laptop. You'll be happy! Here's a pic of me editing a project in AfterEffects. Love it!!!

Great laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just before the semester started my sister and I both bought these laptops. She's about to go into nursing school and I was starting my 1st semester of grad school. I am extremely picky and wasn't looking for a 2-in-1 for my needs but when we found this for my sister, and the student coupon and sale they had going on at the same time, it didn't pay to look for a different laptop for myself. I'm glad I didn't. This has been the best laptop/computer I've ever owned. I haven't done much with it besides research, writing papers, and doing whatever needed for my online classes, but it is so easy to use. My sister has made videos that she needed to submit for her classes which she used the cam on the computer for with no trouble at all. Good resolution, easy to use. The only gripe I have about it is when trying to plug in a flash storage drive that isn't very thin/flat, I have to prop the side of my laptop up so that I can plug it in since the laptop is so thin. Tablet mode is great for reading, and using the touchscreen with a stylus pen makes taking notes so easy using one note.

Great computer for the money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall, we are very happy with this computer and it meets most of our needs. It is powerful enough to run my photo editing software and all of my day-to-day tasks. For the price, this laptop is great. There are a few cons though. When it convert to a tablet, the keyboard is exposed on the back side. This is not a huge issue, its just annoying holding on to it in tablet mode. There is also no protective case for it (that I can find) when in tablet mode. I am out on a construction site a lot for my job and I worry that I will drop this computer on site. This laptop should be used as a laptop, not a tablet. The memory (RAM) is also not able to be upgraded and is fixed at 16 GB. We are happy with this laptop, but I feel the 2-in-1 is a bit gimmicky and should not be bought to replace a tablet. Its nice, but not very useful.

Great product so far, worth every penny
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It is excellent if you are looking to replace your desktop / upgrade other machines. Does not have ethernet port, and WiFi only. From the processor speed, and the speed at which it unpacked and installed a 2GB program, this was faster than my work desktop. Bought it during the Black Friday sale, and most importantly Best Buy has been very prompt in both specifying the correct model, and delivering a week earlier. I had a terrible experience with Costco in previous years, where they advertised something during Black Friday sale, and sent a lower spec, even after showing the printouts. Best Buy has it figured out!
