I bought this laptop on November 24, 2016. I did my research before purchasing this hybrid. After owning a dell for almost 7 years, I honestly say I am beyond impressed with how fast and crisp the hp envy is. It is fast, the keyboard lights up and its TOUCH!!!!!. It is not a ssd but it has 1tb which will work fine for all my downloading and will be using this hybrid during law school and other entertainment uses. The hp envy x360 is just phenomenal. Also, I got this laptop for 699 compared to the near $1000. I am beyond happy with the quickness. Also I love cartana....im in love

This is a great machine for the price. Very solid construction and the keys are much comfortable. Very nice touch screen sensitivity. So, far I haven't had any issues with overheating as well. Worth the buy!

Bought this on Black Friday for $699 which was worth it along with 2 year protection plan from GS and swapped TB to 500 GB SSD. Overall it's super fast at boot up due to the SSD, plenty of memory along with new I7 generation. I highly recommend installing SSD instead of the regular HD. I plan to use this for school and work and so far so good. It also switch into a tablet with 15.6 screen. Only negative part of this laptop is the battery life... It seems like within 2-3 hours, the battery decrease dramatically even when it's on the battery lifesaver is on.

I want to start with negatives. 1, the finish. The matte, non slick silver doesn't take much to get a smudge spot on, and it's somewhat difficult to actually clean without catching lint. I'm kind of a clean hands freak, hate smears and such, and the screen stays clear, but the lid has a couple thumb prints, just after a couple weeks. 2, the power button. It is in the left corner, and as I flip this unit (I use it keyboard down-tent style most of the time), I hit it, and shut it off accidentally. I've went into settings and disabled it, to stop the accidents. That is it, those are the only issues I have with this laptop. I really like it, aside of two fairly minor issues. I use this for running one of the android emulators, to play fallout shelter.. and I had to disable "HD zoom out" mode, because it was crashing doing that, but windows store games work great, and everything about the emulator runs fine as well. Battery, off the emulator, it's 8 hours plus.. I have the screen lower than most people, I don't like super bright white light blasting my eyes, and webpages are generally just that, so I have the backlight down on the 2nd or 3rd "click" up *using the shortcut buttons on the F keys*. Straight game time on the emulator is almost 3 hours straight. Still not terrible. Light up keyboard is the greatest thing ever, on those days were you just don't want to actually line up and type, it's fantastic! The sound from LAPTOP SPEAKERS is good, anyone who thinks these don't have good sound is wrong, plain and simple. Listen to 10 laptops, and these will at least be top 3. They're not home theater systems, they're tiny speakers in a laptop chassis. The touch screen is responsive, and nice colors, gets bright, has great contrast, big viewing angle. The hinges seem okay, nothing worse than I've seen before, and better than an asus that I replaced with this unit. If you have it open, and grab and pull quickly, or pick it up fast, and it's open, the screen will move, and I don't ever remember a non-flip laptop doing that, but I've had other flip-laptops do this, so I deem that pretty normal. For a middle of the road user, not a heavy gamer (I don't have any paid games, I do have some steam games and the emulator stuff), this is an excellent choice. Full keyboard, big mousepad, that seems kind of unneeded, seeing how it's a touchscreen, but it's there and works well too. Also, the mouse doesn't "pop" or "clunk" when tapped, like several others do, and that was important, I hate that clunk sound, I know it's nitpicking, but for almost a thousand bucks, I don't want something I'm going to be frustrated with. Run out and get one, you won't be disappointed unless you're a high end power gamer.

The best laptop I've owned! I have had it over 5 years and it's still going strong. I love the 10 key number pad - makes the accounting part of my job so much easier! I had a work laptop made by dell that just did not stand up to this one! Also love the touch screen! I rarely use this in tablet mode but its a neat option to have.

Bought this after having a few Lenovo computers; swore I'd never buy HP (bad experiences in the past.) I know a lof the reviews say the fan is loud- it is, but the laptop doesn't get hot. It is pretty heavy if weight is something you're worried about. My only "real" complaint is there's no light on the num lock. There is one on Caps lock, thankfully, but not num lock. And as far as I can tell, every time the computer restarts, it shuts num lock off. So, if you have a PIN or numbers in your passcode it can be frustrating. Great sound, great picture.

I bought this device after trying to go cheap for my DJ needs. The first device couldn't handle my needs and the computer crashed!!!! Luckily, Best Buy allowed me to trade my old device for this Monster, of course I paid the price difference, and what a deal!!!! This computer does everything I need it for!!! It's fast and very reliable during my DJ sets!!!! The battery doesn't last long, but I'll always have it plugged during my sets, so that's not a problem!!!! Thanks HP for a satisfying product!!!! I LOVE it!!!!

I bought this computer when it was on sale. It had most everything I wanted in my new laptop. Stupid me failed to check-out the possibility to enhance it's performance. It is near impossible to add an SSD to the hard drive. This was what I was counting on, but I failed to review what was necessary to do so. It is a great computer, with the 1 tb running at 7200 rpm, but it would have been better to have easy access to the hard drive and the battery. Live and learn.

I've had this laptop for over a week now, and it's working great. It's as fast as I expected it to be, which is my #1 criterion for laptops. My only complaints are related to Windows 10 and not related to the device at all. I will note that I never had any issues with the CPU fan that others have noted. Either this is a problem that was fixed, or is related to Windows 10 power settings and YMMV.

I wouldn't buy it again and BB won't return it

I wouldn't buy this laptop again, while it has some nice qualities, overall it's just not built that well. The aluminum is very flexy and thin, and the cooling is terrible, but the biggest issue I have is that the USB-C port will NOT power a display over displayport or mini displayport, I have confirmed this on the model I purchased as well as the floor model in bestbuy. Pros: Slim, fairly light, OK battery life (5-7hrs), good keyboard and decent trackpad, pretty good specs for the price though you need to replace the slow hard drive with an SSD if you want real performance, I'd just buy the Dell inspiron instead, they are much better built and cost the same if you factor in the cost of a new SSD drive. Cons: -USB C connector does not work with multiple adapters and cables I have tried. All of the cables and adapters I verified will work with the Dell Inspiron 7000 series and the Dell XPS models, for some reason the HP x360 Envy didn't implement any display over USB C, what the heck? Terrible. -By default "HP Coolsense" is enabled which makes you hear fan noise all the time, it's completely obnoxious, you can turn off coolsense and it's a little more bearable though still annoying. If you look at the back of the system, the only exhaust it has is through a tiny sliver of a vent, about the thickness of a toothpick, I really think it's just a bad design compared to other brands. They went for cool looking and cool marketing videos instead of actually well built in person. -Screen doesn't get that bright compared to most modern laptops, it's just average. I took my 27" monitor in to my local BB store to verify that the floor model was identical to what I had purchased of the x360, sure enough the floor model wouldn't output displayport or minidisplayport over USB C either. We then tried a dell inspiron 7000 and dell XPS, both worked flawlessly powering my 27" monitor at 1440p resolution, I'm not sure what HP is lacking here but don't expect to use anything except the HDMI port if you want to go video out. The problem I have with HDMI is that it doesn't always work with my larger monitors, and some monitors don't support hdmi 2.0 which is needed for higher resolutions, this is just dumb. BB wouldn't let me exchange the x360 for the Dell model that we tested, they actually said my return was rejected because I possibly returned too many items in the past, however when I showed cust service my list of purchases since June of 2016, I only had one $50 return, and about 8 other purchases totaling well over $1500.. Don't believe the return policy, apparently they can just decide you are not fit to exchange or return, crazy.

This is way faster than I expected. Internet is almost instant. It is taking advantage of our big routers speed. Apps come up just ,BANG there they are. I really like the ability to switch to tablet mode and back again. So far very happy with this machine.

The fan in the computer is on at all times, startup takes a little longer than I would have expected, probably about 1 minute before I can start internet explorer. I wouldn't recommend this at full price. But this isn't bad for $699.

I haven't bought a new laptop for a few years. I decided to go with HP since they have been good to me so far. This would be my 4th hp laptop in about 10 years Where do I start? Physically, it's not small. Everyone that's seen it says how big it is. The screen has a 3/4" bezel all around. I'm not sure why, but many manufacturers have thin/slim bezels. Maybe because it's a touch screen? This adds quite a bit to the size in my eyes. I do like the weight. It's not too heavy and easy on the shoulder when in a bag. I would probably get the 13" if i was travelling with it, but i like the 15.4" screen size. The touch screen acts weird at times. I'm not sure if it defective, but i can watch the mouse go all over the screen and randomly start clicking on things and opening up files and programs. I contacted hp support, and the only choice for me is to take all my files off and ship it out to them. Since it doesn't happen often, it's not worth the trouble to send it out for who knows how long and be without my pc. The fan! It seems to always be running. I'm not sure why. Even when i look at the task manager, there isn't much cpu use. Doesn't seem to be any way to adjust it.The performance from the i7 cpu is good, but it's still just a dual core. Hard drive performance is terrible. This laptop is sealed up pretty well, so installing a ssd will be a chore. Definitely look for a model with an ssd already installed. It's worth every penny. Not user serviceable friendly. You can't replace the battery either. It seems to be the trend these days with electronics. Windows 10 is the new standard. It's a love/hate relationship. I still won't get a mac, but Microsoft seems to think they know best what you and i want. Updates and "features" are often making you take a step back. But i've learned to deal i suppose. Not much choice. The screen seems to be bright enough. Although the color representation is not good. Maybe it's because of the panel they use for the touch screen. White doesn't look white when comparing it to any other screen. The audio is ok. Not too tinny, but not that loud either. When you fold this into tablet mode, the speakers are covered. What a stupid design! Who overlooked that one? The lighted keyboard is nice. It's either on or off. No brightness levels. I don't know if i would want to type too long on it. The palm rest area is not that comfy. I do like that it has a numberpad on the side. My dell laptop at work which costs double doesn't even have that. The touchpad is not my favorite. I just don't like the feel of it. I usually use a wireless mouse. The right and left click buttons are not actual buttons. Just areas on the bottom of the touchpad with no markings. Battery life seems to be good. I don't go mobile too long, but depending how you use it, i think you could squeeze out up to 5 hours. I don't remember what it was rated for. This is probably the least impressive laptop i have ever purchased. For the price, it's not too bad. But a solid 3. Just do yourself a favor and get the ssd version. You will thank me later.

    Great Laptop, Description is Wrong

I bought a HP Spectre on Sunday and had all kinds of problems with it. Half my software that installed fine on another Window's 10 machine would not install on the Spectre for whatever reason. Spent all day Sunday and Sunday night trying without any luck. Anyway Monday took it back to BB and exchanged for this HP Envy. Seems like a really good computer but the boot time is horrible, description says 3 USB ports, mine only has 2 and the battery life for a computer costing this much is horrible. Taking this back tomorrow and going to try another Spectre. Hopefully I just got a bad one.

I love this computer!! there is only a few things that I don't like about it, I think that the number lock button should light up like the caps lock button does when its on or it should give some indication that it is on and I don't like the fact that the camera seems to be a little blurry but other than that I love it!!
