Hp Laser Jet M140w Review
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I haven't used this printer a lot since I purchased it, but it's done a good job on everything up to this point in regards to printing and scanning. It's for home use and so far, it's been well worth the less than $90 price tag on sale.

Low price point that comes with some shortcomings
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The HP Laser Jet M140w is a no-frills entry point laser printer that has a low entry cost into the world of black and white laser printing. This low-cost entry point comes at a sacrifice to normal quality of life features. If this printer is connected to your computer via USB cable, then you should have no connectivity issues. It will be recognized by Windows 11 easily when adding the printer. To use the wireless functionality, you will need a smartphone. There is no display on this printer to allow us to navigate the menus. Everything must be set up using the app. That in its own might be a deal breaker to most because it’s another app you need on your phone to control your printer. However, the app is only good for setting up the printer. After setting up the printer wirelessly, sending print jobs over the network to the printer causes issues at times. The display on the printer will display a series of two-digit error codes which makes it not as intuitive to debug print errors. I had hoped to pull up the app for it to tell me what was wrong with the printer. However, the app does not do anything but tell you if the printer is online or offline. Since the printer flashes a series of two-digit codes, searching the internet for the meaning of error codes was difficult. After lots of internet research, I believe the stack of blank papers had slipped out of the tray causing the printer to think it was out of paper. Therefore, make sure the surface you set your printer up is level to prevent any slippage of the stack of paper. In addition, the only way to get the printer to start up again was to do a power cycle of the printer. I also encountered Wi-Fi disconnect causing the printer to appear offline to all the computers on my network. Another thing this printer lacks is an automatic duplex printing mode. Sometimes when asking the printer to print in double-sided mode, the computer will prompt you to put the printed page back in the printer and click continue the prompt to print the other side of the page. Other times it won’t ask, you can just stop. This means that you will have to cleverly figure out how to print again to finish the double-sided printing. If you are just looking for a small footprint black and white laser printer at the lowest cost possible, this will work if you have a mobile device around to set it up if you want the wireless features. However, I believe the lack of detailed error logs on a screen will cause headaches to the user.

Another HP Another HP dissapointment
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We bought this for home use, and we are NOT power users. I bought this along with a new Dell desktop in January of 24. I finally had the replace the original toner cartridge on Saturday, 2/17/25. I used the toner that was sent by HP, The Exclamation point lit up, and error 11 came up. After 3 hours with the geek squad remote log in, the guy with whom I never spoke, finally just closed the chat box and dropped out. I had to sit here the entire time, watching that this guy from who knows where, didn't access some of my private info, or change something in my settings that might cause issues later. Great way to spend a Saturday morning! Finally I went to my local Brandon Best Buy, met with a Greek, who tried to fix the issue with a new toner cartridge. This only caused a Error code 75 to come up, which the Geek was not able to fix, I left it on the table for the Geeks to throw away. If you want to rent a printer for $150.00/year, This is a printer for you. The Geek recommended an Epson Eco-Tank, so now I am back to ink. We'll see.

A small printer with big setup problems
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a small laser printer with clear print quality. Unfortunately, there are some design and setup issues that mar the experience. Starting with setup, unpacking is simple and it’s obvious how to get this ready to go. I appreciate the small box it comes in, sturdy enough to protect the printer, but small enough to be ecologically sound. This is where things started falling apart. Connecting to Wi-Fi was far more complicated than it needed to be. The instructions said to download the HP Smart software, which was simple enough, particularly since I already had it installed. Once the app is installed, it directs you to connect to a network of the format HP-setup-. This sounds easy, except this network did not appear on the list. Instead, two new networks, one referencing an HP laser printer, the other a string of letters and numbers that looked like a name only a computer could love, did appear. Both were password protected. A search for the HP laser network password led to an HP support page, which helpfully gave the default password as 12345678. I’ll save you the trouble, this password doesn’t work. I powered down the printer and restarted it. No new network appeared until I pressed the Wi-Fi button on the printer (not in the instructions), at which time the HP-setup- network appeared, but when I tried to connect to it, it disappeared and was replaced by the two password-protected networks. Another reboot and press of the Wi-Fi button again restored the HP-setup network, and this time it stayed around long enough for me to connect. Once connected, the HP Smart app led me to the next screen to complete setup. After a few minutes, it told me an unknown error had occurred and I needed to start over. However, a check of my devices showed that the printer was on-line and functioning fine. Once it was (finally) set up, the printer worked well, but there is another design issue. The sleek looking design in the photo is great, but you need to realize that the printer is too small to store paper in an enclosed feeder tray. The only way to have paper ready is to drop the front cover, pull out the feeder tray, load the paper into a tray that sticks out the front. The paper then sits, uncovered, attracting dust and, in our home, dog hair. If this is not a reasonable option for you, then you need to reload the paper every time you want to print. Given the poor design of the paper feeder tray and the completely absurd problems with setup, it’s really impossible to recommend this printer.

Another HP printer fail
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the worst printer I have ever owned, and I have had some bad ones. I have had it for a few weeks and it is going in the trash. The only way I can get it to print is to reinstall it every time or use the HP Smart app directly, which can't print Word documents. It prints 5-6 sheets per minute, which is nowhere close to the 21 claimed. The last job I tried, about 20 pages, re-printed the first 2 pages at the end. On another job, I asked it to print pages 20-24 and it printed... the first 5 pages 1-5. I have printed about 100 pages total over the few weeks I have had it and the ink says it has about 60% remaining. The amount of time I have wasted on this useless thing is mind-boggling. I don't understand how this can have any good reviews. It just doesn't work at all.

Works perfectly until one day….
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Unfortunately i bought 2 of these printers, one for office and one for work. Both of them died randomly just like that after 2 years and 2 years and a half. Im saying that it doesn’t even turn on at all anymore. I googled and a lot of people complain about this issue and don’t know whats the problem . It worked perfectly for 2 years , but dont last for more than that
