We use the machine as stand alone copier and also as a back up for our HP laser jet P1102W.

The printer worked for a day. It required the software to be loaded on each device you wanted to print from, and not just the driver. I was able to use the 2 devices to print, but a few days later, it stopped working. It says it is offline. I have restarted it. I have restarted the network. I have tried it with the usb. I have tried with wifi. It is obviously on, but it says it is offline. I cannot use it. I was disappointed about the paper tray as well. It is not an enclosed tray. The paper is loosely loaded from the front.

      Hi, Robert.

I’m sorry that your printer has gone offline and stayed that way so that you cannot use it. It’s no surprise that you’re exasperated, especially considering you had a difficult setup process too. I want to help you remedy this situation, so I’ll guide you to some resources and information I hope will accomplish that goal.

First, I recommend you visit a page on our support site that has diagnostic tools for various issues, including wireless connectivity and printer-offline difficulties. You can find that page here:
      - support.hp.com/us-en/topic/diagnostics

If the problem persists, I suggest that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and determine the best course of action. (Please note that because of restrictions on personal movement and workplace attendance associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, wait times for agents are longer than normal. Thanks in advance for your understanding.) To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:

      - Model number
      - Serial number
      - Your location
      - Case number (from any previous contact with HP support)

I'll also mention that HP printers have a one-year warranty from their purchase date that covers hardware as well as ink supplies, so if it comes to that, you might consider making use of it. You can verify the warranty using the following link:
      - support.hp.com/us-en/checkwarranty

This printer was an absolute pain to setup locally, connected with USB. Very frustrating to get it to work while connected to USB, it finally worked after some troubleshooting and searching. Wirelessly, forget about it! I cannot get the printer to print wirelessly, and the HP website is useless. If you type can't print wirelessly no solutions come up. The virtual agent is even more useless and just frustrates you with the same answers, which you're not looking for. This one will be going back. Anything that is frustrating and hard to setup isn't worth keeping. It's also a bit concerning that when I went into properties the software knew my Wireless network name and my password. It was in the configuration even though I never entered my password or wifi network name anywhere during setup. It shouldn't be "pulling" my passwords without my authorization.

    Awful controls and requires bloatware

The printer is very basic - absolutely zero stars on controls - all you get is a small set of hieroglyphic buttons. AirPrint basically works, but if you want to use any other features you have to download a 150MB "essential software" (bloatware) package. Moral of the story - you get what you pay for. I am really sorry that I purchased this item. The only positives are is that it is compact and AirPrint works. It is cheap, and that's for a reason.
