Bought this printer as a replacement To the 3rd ink jet that that began to become problematic with Bluetooth printing. I decided to overspend and get something commercial to solve the cheap printer death spiral. So far I love it. It's a big upfront expense, but I don't see this going in the trash anytime in the foreseeable future.

This printer does it all, in color and with ease. I am using it wirelessly in my office which makes it simple to set up in any location without having to deal with wires.

It's large, but not as big as the Canon it replaced. Manual Wi-Fi setup was simple and worked right away. Printing is very fast, even duplex, no heavy curling of paper. Fairly quiet fan, has a sleep mode. Did not use scanner or fax yet. Overall very satisfied, and hp has a trade in rebate until December.

    Buggy and poor Quality Control!

On paper (no pun intended), the M477FDW has it all. Fast networking, Wifi, web-enabled apps, single pass dual sided scanning, EXCELLENT color and grayscale print quality, even a fax (if you're into that sort of thing). Then the nightmare begins: Where do I start... The single-pass dual sided document feeder scans EVERY page crooked. The document feeder also grabs stacks of pages at a time, meaning I have to reload my stack, or scan one page at a time, making the auto document feeder completely USELESS. I also have this printer set up downstairs and my workstation is upstairs. This was very frustrating as I had to make over a dozen trips up and down the stairs to ensure my scan was successful. I bought an MFP, not a workout device. The networking would drop out after an hour. A reboot was always needed. I updated the firmware to the latest version, but it still didn't fix the problem. Got a Mac? Too bad. Half the time, PDF documents will not print and will give a "cannot print. file is corrupt" error on the printer, then proceed to ignore your print job. When you are printing PDF time sensitive real estate contracts, that's a big deal. The workaround is to use Adobe Reader to print, or a Windows computer, which I can put up with... but I can't put up with the constantly dropping network connections. My 6 year old Canon Pixma MX870 was way less fussy than this. I am hoping I just bought a bad individual unit. I placed another order for one, hoping it will not have the same problems. If HP can fix the many quality control problems, they may have something worth buying. In the meantime, stay away from this lemon.

I don’t print much, but I ended up going with a laser printer to not have to deal with ink. Of course it cost more upfront, but it was on a good sale, and hopefully it’ll last. Set it up in less than 5 minutes. Wireless printing works great.

The HP has all the technology & functions, well equipped, versatile and can handle all the demands of any organization. After careful review and the phenomenal knowledge from a Best Buy employee. We made an outstanding choice and purchase.

I purchased this printer when it was on sale but ended up having to return it. The printer that I received was not able to print straight lines. I tried printing several different documents from different sources and the lines always printed out wavy. Even the pages that I printed directly from the printer such as the toner information page, printer configuration page etc. had the same issue. I could not find anywhere on how to do an alignment like you can on inkjet printers. The only alignment option on the printer is to change the margins to make the print be in the center of the page. The scanner is not very good on this printer either. When you scan pages in the ADF they are saved crooked. I spent ages playing around with the settings in the HP Scanning software but could not get the documents to scan straight. During my time messing around with the printer I also found several other bugs with are related to the firmware and drivers of the printer. I contacted HP Support and the solution for the hardware issues (wavy lines and scanner) was to keep returning the printer until I get one that works. I did not get much confidence from HP that the replacement would be any better and they also said that they didn't know if and when the software (firmware and driver) issues will be resolved so I returned it and bought a printer from a different manufacturer, which works perfectly out the box.

Recently bought a Canon laserjet and had issues connecting it (scan to file/scan to email) to a Mac. Returned it and purchased this with no issues setting it up. Very user friendly and functions flawlessly.

Great printer for a small office. Double sided is seamless, but spooling print jobs can’t be done without adding a USB drive.
