I’m sorry you’ve had a poor experience with your printer. I can certainly understand why being misled by sales staff then encountering scanning difficulty would be a frustrating combination. I want to help you out of this quagmire, so I’ll suggest some resources aimed at making that happen.
First, I recommend you visit a page on our support site where you’ll find a general-purpose tool called the HP Print and Scan Doctor. If you use Windows, the tool will help identify and guide you through solutions to a wide range of common scanning as well as printing issues. Visit that page here:

My problem is with Best Buy and their refusal to provide me with a vetetan's discount which is commonplace in MD and DE! I'll look elsewhere next time!
