There's more involved with initial setup than I was told by salesman at Best Buy. I've had to unplug computer and printer often to get it to perform at all. Copy quality is only average. Lots of technical knowledge necessary just to continue to work on it. Usually need to tweek something each time I need to fax, scan or print. I would not purchase it again. I asked salesman for the easiest printer possible.

    Fairly Decent Printer

This HP Office Jet Pro is a decent little printer and I have to admit it's beaten most of my expectations. Normally, I'm not a fan of HP products but minus a few minor quibbles this printer is proving to be rather nice. The pros are it's not too bulky but a tad bit heavier than one would expect from its physical footprint and setup is probably one of the easiest I've ever experienced from a printer from any manufacturer. HP+ is going in both the pro and con list for me. On the pro side is the fact that I got this printer setup printing and scanning without connecting to my Mac, PC, iPhone, and iPad. Nice! for me this means it can sit on the other side of my home office/computer room. When the whole app connected wireless print thing started years back I had a horrible experience so since then I've always gone for a wired connection. This printer is making me think the manufacturers have gotten the kinks worked out. The cons for the printer, and HP+, is that the ink cartridges for the printer are absurdly small. Of course HP wants you to use thier $4.99 per month ink replacement plan where they'll send you ink when you're printer tells them it's running low. And this is my biggest gripe. Yet one more monthly subscription service I have to keep up with. You get a six month free trial and I'll decide at the end of it if that's the way for me to go. Print quality is a bit above average. Ditto for scan quality. If you want a decent printer at this price point it's hard to recommend against. From out of the box to printing for me was less than 15 minutes.

I have always had HP printers, from the first laser to the 8600. This one has had lots of scanner issues. Had to stay on line with tech help for 2 hours to get it to work. It doesn't like Windows Defender because of the firewall. I can only scan to email, not to computer. If you get it to scan to the computer, it's only for a very limited amount of time and it revers to scan to email. Prints slowly.

As most have come to expect, HP does not make junk. They have some of the best printers, scanners, computers, etc. This is no exception. This thing feels solid. It prints, scans, copies, etc. very well. The auto document feeder works flawlessly, something that can be a make or break situation for these types of machines, at least in my mind. Having an auto document feeder that you are constantly worried about feeding properly is too stressful and very frustrating. This is not something you have to worry about here. Yes, it is rated at 20 ppm black and 10 ppm color. Speed isn't an issue with this machine, it feels like it's doing a decent job. It can do automatic double sided copies/print jobs if desired. But it seems as if HP has made it more robust behind the scenes. They boast of self-healing WIFI, enhanced security features, and document protection. All I know is that it worked, worked well, and am glad these things are happening behind the scenes to make this a better, and more secure, customer experience. I don't need to know how all of these things are working in the background, just glad they are, plus it works when I need it. It has all the "cloud based" features, smart phone app control, able to interface with dropbox, google drive, email, etc. All with the app. The touch screen is large enough to be useful, and is responsive enough you will think you are using a high end tablet because it is so decent to use. The biggest problem I had when I first got this, was the issue of ink. Yes, I know, the elephant in the room. Yes, they do offer a subscription plan for ink replacements based on number of pages printed per month. And I was thinking that this is just yet one more way to sign you up for something, but then I started doing the math. You can spend $5/month and after 12 months (1 year) you've spent $60, the cost of ink replacement. Or you could instead think of this as regardless of how much ink it uses, based on what you sign up for, you'll never have to worry about it again. Paying $60 for ink on a $180+/- printer seems crazy. But when I rationalize it out to $5/month for that ink, I'm okay with it. I hate having to come up with that big sum at the end for ink vs. paying it monthly. I do alot of printing at home for labels, college reports, work reports, etc. and do not want to have to think about ink costs on a weekend when I need to do a report and realize I'm too low on ink. If you sign up, you get 6 months free ink, then a 2 year warranty, and it doesn't cost much for that ink. Now you MAY be able to cheat and get the generic cartridges, but then I started to think back about all those generics I've bought and gotten frustrated with when one of them doesn't work and you end up buying a new set (as they don't sell them in individuals per se). Or they leak all over your rug. We know these are genuine HP carts, and they work. The printer works, the cartridges work, etc. I value my ability to print stuff; if I'm printing something, it is important and don't like having to fuss with leaking cartridges, defective cartridges, etc. It's been said enough, you get what you pay for. With HP you may not be using the least expensive option, but you are using an option that will get you reliability, quality, and longevity. I've got HP stuff in my house that has been here for years and works as well as the day I first brought that HP stuff home.

cartridge access door defective, won't open!!!!

Received printer today, unboxed it, hooked it up, powered on fine, went to lift cartridge access door to insert ink cartridges and access door is stuck. Can't open it. Right side appears free, but left side is stuck tight. (Yes, I pulled function screen up, but when that didn't work, tried it in place, as well). No amount of pulling on the hand lift area (short of breaking the plastic) will get it to release, so can't insert cartridges. Spent 3 hours on phone with HP and Best Buy, between being on hold, dropped calls on their end, being transferred to wrong dept, etc. HP rep agreed item has a manufacturing defect. Now I have to take it to a store, wait in return line, etc. Took a week to receive this printer since placing order, during which time I've been without printer as my old HP gave me an unfixable printhead error. This should be a straightforward matter: receive printer, set it up, print. Maybe time to buy a different make if the build on the external housing is so poor. Makes you doubt the integrity of the more complex inner workings.

Setup out of the box was simple. What was not so simple was printing. The black ink would not function. And the customer support was useless. I had an HP printer previously and was very happy with it. I am hoping that this one was just a fluke.

A sad replacement for my HP 8600 which served me well for almost a decade. Original 8025 was replaced under warranty when everything started printing with blue overcast. Replacement drops WiFi with great consistency. Setup is very confusing; website assistant is awful - it takes you in circles. "Do X", then when X doesn't work "Do Y" when that doesn't work it tells you "Do X". Sometimes it will scan to computer. Other times not - which then requires you to reboot printer and computer. To top it off, some HP cartridges were defective (HP agreed). Thankfully the black one was ok but had to remind them twice that they promised to provide replacement for defective ones -- so I spent the better part of a month only printing in black ink. A royal pain.

Shoddy Wi-Fi connectivity. Color ink cartridges deplete far too fast. The HP Smart app doesn't work well for scanning, and actually has the gall to encourage to take a photo with your phone and send it to yourself instead. No printer chord included.

My new OfficeJet Pro 8025 ran out of ink three months after receipt and I only print about three pages a month. After purchasing new HP ink cartridges, blue items print as pink. As a printer, the machine is worthless. However, I primarily use it for scanning for which it works well.

      Hi there.

I’m sorry to hear that your printer has rendered prints of poor quality. It’s easy to understand why seeing blue items printed as pink would be quite a jarring surprise, so I’ll offer some resources and information I hope will help.

HP has identified a manufacturing issue on specific production lots of supplies that can affect print quality, cause a cartridge-recognition error or both. HP recently released new firmware to help protect your printer from this.

You can resolve the problem by following the steps below:

      1. Visit our official support site: support.hp.com
      2. In the section called “Identify your product for manuals and specific product information” insert your printer’s serial number and click “submit.”
      3. Scroll down and click the tile with “Are you having print quality issues or getting an incompatible cartridge message?”
      4. Proceed as instructed.

If the problem persists, I hope you’ll contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and find a solution. (Please note that because of restrictions on personal movement and workplace attendance associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, wait times for agents are longer than normal. Thanks in advance for your understanding.) To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:

      - Model number
      - Serial number
      - Your location
      - Case number (from any previous contact with HP support)
