    Cheap Junk

Needed a basic printer for home office. Only print a few pages here and there. In two months I have run out of ink twice, even with the large cartridge. Spent a lot of time adjusting the paper tray - very cheaply made. Printer doesn't recognize envelope printing from Word. This is basic stuff that I have been doing for years with better quality printers. Don't waste your money if you plan to print more than 10 pages a year.

      Hi, Dave.

I’m sorry to hear that your printer is going through so much ink. It concerns me that the cartridges you’ve received performed so poorly. Unless you were printing mostly high-density prints, it does seem like you should have been able to print more.

Here are some things you can consider:
      - If it appears that a cartridge was low on ink to begin with, or that the poor page yield was caused by a defective cartridge, you can always contact the seller who sent you the cartridge about that.
      - Contact us if the supplies are defective genuine cartridges that are not replaced by the vendor (and they are still within the “warranty ends” date on the cartridges). Reach out to us via this link: support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp

That said, I can’t tell from your review whether it’s a problem with the cartridge or the printer itself, so I recommend that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and guide you through any applicable troubleshooting. (Please note that because of restrictions on personal movement and workplace attendance associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, wait times for agents are longer than normal. Thanks in advance for your understanding.) To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:

      - Model number
      - Serial number
      - Your location
      - Case number (from any previous contact with HP support)

I'll also mention that HP printers have a one-year warranty from their purchase date that covers hardware as well as ink supplies, so if it comes to that, you might consider making use of it. You can verify the warranty using the following link: support.hp.com/us-en/checkwarranty

    DEFECTIVE PRINTER

Printer worked great for 5 months. Then all of a sudden the cyan cartridge was defective. Then no cyan cartridges could be read. Then I was completely locked off the printer. Can't even copy or scan. None of the troubleshooting has worked. Read online this line of printers are defective and not the only one having a bad experience. Do not purchase unless you would like to purchase a different printer within 6 months.

      Hi there.

I’m sorry to hear that your printer has failed to recognize ink cartridges that are made for it. I can understand why that would be quite a jarring surprise, so I’ll offer some information and resources that I hope will help.

HP has identified a manufacturing issue on specific production lots of supplies that can affect print quality, cause a cartridge-recognition error like the one you describe, or both. HP recently released new firmware to help protect your printer from this.

You can resolve the problem by following the steps below:

      1. Visit our official support site: support.hp.com
      2. In the section called “Identify your product for manuals and specific product information” insert your printer’s serial number and click “submit.”
      3. Scroll down and click the tile with “Are you having print quality issues or getting an incompatible cartridge message?”
      4. Proceed as instructed.

If the problem persists, I suggest that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and find a solution. (Please note that because of restrictions on personal movement and workplace attendance associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, wait times for agents are longer than normal. Hi there.

I’m sorry that you’ve encountered difficulty with the document feeder on your printer. Your review is brief, but your dilemma is clear. I want to help you remedy this problem, so I’ll offer some resources and information aimed at reaching that end.

First, from your review it seems like the paper jams are occurring at the feeder rather than within the printer itself. If that’s the case, I recommend that you follow the steps in this guide to document feeders that pull through too many pages at once or fail to pick up paper at all:
      - support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01728503

If the feeder problem persists – or the paper jams are of a different type – I suggest that you contact us directly so we can help you assess what’s going on and find the best course of action. HP+ printers such as yours come with exclusive concierge support. To call and reach live HP+ experts, visit the following URL and enter your HP+ serial number:

I'll also mention that HP printers have a one-year warranty from their purchase date that covers hardware as well as ink supplies – and that warranty extends to two years with an HP+ account – so if it comes to that, you might consider making use of it. Don't Buy Hp Products

You might as well take the hundreds of dollars you going to spend on this printer and flush it down the toilet. This company is so sneaky and unreliable. They don't let you replace ink cartridges with any other type than HP factory (expensive) cartridges. In addition, the printers don't work. So, you spent money to buy cartridges and then their printers break. Then you are totally out of luck. Honestly, I've lost a year of my life dealing with my HP printers (cartridges don't work; paper jams, printer maintenance that never ends). These products are meant to break so you keep having to replace them. That is the HP business model. Enjoy your new printer! (for about 1 month).

    Avoid this product

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Do not purchase this printer. After our previous HP printer just stopped connecting to the wireless network with no way to fix it, we purchased this printer. The green and blue ink is streaked with white lines. The biggest problem is with the scanner. The light that makes the copies shines through a glass panel when you open the lid to put your document on the glass. There is no way to avoid it shining in your eyes while adjusting the document on the glass. Makes my eyes feel funny for several minutes after. HP said there is nothing they can do because it is just part of the design of the product instead of a flaw. I would avoid HP based on my experience with printers. When I asked an HP rep about my first printer that just stopped working, he said that it was like other electronics that are only good for about 4-5 years before needing a new one! I couldn't believe it!

      Hi, Sarah.

I’m sorry to hear that your printer has rendered prints of poor quality and that a design feature of the scanner has caused you hardship. I can understand why that would be a tremendously disappointing experience for a new printer (not to mention what a support agent told you about the lifespan of electronics). With that in mind, I’ll offer a resource that I hope will help you get more from your printer in the future.

The print quality issue might be one that’s known to HP. The company has identified a manufacturing issue on specific production lots of supplies that can affect print quality like you describe, cause a cartridge-recognition error or both. HP Envy Awful

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I recently bought an HP Photo Envy and a new Mac. After setting up the printer I had difficulty arranging for InstantPrint, so I called the helpline. The "helper" tried unsuccessfully to help me for about 30 minutes. He then asked me to turn off my computer, and then restart. When I did so, I then could not restart my computer. I was met with a black screen and apple icon, and I could not log in. He asked me to repeat this process several times, and I still could not open my computer. He told me to call Apple, he had no other suggestions. Based on this experience, I will never buy an HP product. Additionally, each time I use the printer it makes a lot of noise, and the plastic seems of very poor quality, and I think it will easily break.

This has to be the worst printer I have ever owned. It worked for about a month. Lately I have spent more ink, time and paper cleaning the heads just so it will print 2 clean pages. Couldn't take it anymore. I'm self employed and my time is worth money. I just bought a new Epson tonight. I had a Brother printer that lasted 10 years. This didn't last a month! Terrible!

      Hi there.

I’m sorry that your printer has performed so poorly for you. Your dismay comes as no surprise, considering that after a month of acceptable use you’ve repeatedly cleaned the printheads only to find that print quality deteriorates again quickly afterward. I want to help you resolve this situation, so I’ll suggest some resources I hope will serve that end.

No double side scan, no ethernet

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

HP Tech support has confirmed that what they mean by "Double-sided scanning is available" is that you have to insert each page by hand, flip it, and scan again, So if you had 10 pages, you do this 10 times. They suggested I get another modes that is nearly 3x pricier. Also, this model does not accept ether net connection, cannot be wired directly to the router. To use it you must make your computer use slower wireless connectivity for ALL tasks, even if just 1 foot away from the router.

I have had this printer about a year (more or less). I am not a high volume printer anymore. I have had to buy ink for it about 4 times, The color cartridges are very small and run out quick. I am only using it for my home use. I have never had a printer that runs out this quick. I am already looking for another printer. This one is not worth the money in my opinion. I am sure it would be fine if you only print one page per month

The worst printer I have ever owned. After initial set up it worked ok. Did not use it fir a month and the pictures had streaks and it said we needed ink. We tried numerous sources and and could not find cartridges they were all back ordered. We finally got cartridges a few days ago. The first photos we did were very vivid, but VERY streaked across the entire page. Sixty-eight dollars worth of cartridges WASTED! THIS PRINTER IS WORTHLESS!

This is the worst printer I have ever purchased and I have purchased quite a few. Within a few months of buying it completely ceased printing cyan and magenta. I replaced those print cartridges and performed all the cleaning/ alignment processes but no improvement. This machine is an embarrassment to HP who has made some outstanding printers in the past. Hi there.

I’m sorry to learn that your printer would not connect wirelessly like it should during setup. I can certainly understand why that would be an unwelcome surprise, especially if wireless connectivity is among the main reasons you bought the device. I want to help you resolve this situation, so I’ll provide some resources I hope will reach that end.

First, I recommend you visit a page on our support site that has diagnostic tools for various issues, including setup and wireless connectivity. You can find that page here:

      Hi there.

I'm terribly sorry to hear about the trouble you had setting up your printer. Even more so, it's awful to hear about the experience you had when reaching out to support. Unfortunately, support feedback of that nature is often linked to fraudulent companies or individuals.

There is no charge for standard support during your one-year warranty period (which extends to two years with an HP+ account). In case you need to, you can double-check the warranty status of your printer here:
      - support.hp.com/checkwarranty

We know that fraudulent companies and individuals find their way to people by many means, and often they appear totally legitimate. On our support site we have a section that contains information on how to protect yourself from scams, and what to do if you’ve been the victim of one. Visit that page here:
