However, some users find the printer to be somewhat loud and on the larger side. The wireless functionality and scanning capabilities also receive positive feedback.

      Hi, Terri.

I’m sorry that your printer is making more noise than you’d anticipated, and that you’re generally disappointed by it. I want to help you remedy the noise issue and learn more about the device so you can get the most from it, so I’ll provide some information and resources aimed at making that happen.

First, I'll explain one factor that might be causing the noise you hear. While your printer is powered up, it makes sure that the nozzles are regularly cleared, which can be noisy, especially if the printer is on a hard surface. I suggest you try placing the printer on a padded surface to muffle the vibrations that occur.

To learn more about your printer and all its features, or for help solving problems, you can access user manuals, how-to documents, troubleshooting guides and software updates here:
      - support.hp.com/us-en/product/model/37934158

You can also visit a page on our support site that has diagnostic tools for various tasks and issues, including cartridge installation, print quality, operating-system compatibility and connectivity. There you can find a general-purpose tool called the HP Print and Scan Doctor. If you use Windows, the tool will help identify and guide you through solutions to a wide range of common printing and scanning issues. You can find the page here:
      - support.hp.com/us-en/topic/diagnostics

If the noise problem persists or you need any further assistance, I recommend you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and determine the best course of action. (Please note that because of restrictions on personal movement and workplace attendance associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, wait times for agents are longer than normal. Thanks in advance for your understanding.) To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:

      - Model number
      - Serial number
      - Your location
      - Case number (from any previous contact with HP support)

Normally printer setup is very easy. This time it was difficult due to a defect. When I unboxed the printer (very easy with the handles) and started removing the packing tape and materials I found a loosely coiled spring loose in the printer tray. Luckily, I set it aside. The instructions are mostly pictorial and guide you through the process. You must install HP Smart to complete the setup. FYI – HP has a more in-depth setup video on their website. I couldn’t complete the setup because it kept saying that I didn’t have paper in the tray. It was full. I removed some. Still it said no paper in tray. I watched the video and nothing about paper tray issues. Then I started to look closely in the tray. On one end there is a spot where there should be a coil under the plate on each side. Only one side had a coil so that is where the loose coil came from. I was able to coil it back up and slide it into place with the skills of playing Operation on a printer tray. Finally, I was able to complete setup. Then it still wouldn’t print. I rebooted my computer and success. I printed color charts and tiny text. I printed photos. Everything looked very good to excellent. Photos were very good and I picked some with vibrant colors and sharp contrasts and they were much better than I expected on a multi-function printer. Print, copy, scan or fax – it all worked very well. The control panel should be larger – it has the smallest one of any printer we own. The 35 page ADF worked well and didn’t jam. Personally, I find HP Smart annoying as you have to install it on every device. We have a mesh network and use several printers. The HP Smart printers tend to have more issues staying connected. Once you activate Instant Ink you do have to either continue with Instant Ink or use only HP brand cartridges or the printer won’t function. I like Instant Ink so that doesn’t bother me. No cables are included. Letter and legal size pages are supported as well as envelopes. We use 24 lb. paper and it fed well with no jams. Pros: Individual Color Ink Cartridges Instant Ink subscription program – 6 months free Prints fast Text is excellent quality Color charts are excellent Photos are very good Double-sided scanning, copying and printing Cons: Poor paper tray construction Very small control touch screen HP Smart NOTE: I received this product in exchange for my fair and unbiased review.

      Hi there.

I’m sorry to hear that your printer has performed so poorly. I can’t tell from your brief review quite what’s happening, but any description that mentions unfriendly features as well as shutdowns can’t be good. I want to help you remedy whatever you’re facing, so I’ll direct you to a resource and offer some information I hope will accomplish that goal.

First, I’ll point out that HP+ printers come with exclusive concierge support. To call and reach live HP+ experts who can help you assess what’s going on and find a solution, visit the following URL and enter your HP+ serial number:
      - hp.com/plus-help

I'll also mention that HP printers have a one-year warranty from their purchase date that covers hardware as well as ink supplies – and that warranty extends to two years with an HP+ account – so if it comes to that, you might consider making use of it. You can verify the warranty using the following link:

In order to scan with this unit you have to create an HP Cloud account and be logged into it. As in to scan my papers from my scanner to my computer on my desk I have to be logged into HP's network and send them information about everything I scan. I’m sorry to hear that your printer has been difficult to use. I can understand why that, plus the slow printing you describe, would be quite a frustrating combination. With that in mind, I’ll offer some resources that I hope will help.

Since most office workers have been working at home for the past year, we do not have the luxury of using the giant office copiers we have been used to. I needed a home-office grade printer, since my smaller consumer printer just couldn't keep up with the work load. This new HP OfficeJet pro has been a huge upgrade while working from home. It prints crystal clear copies, and runs much faster than my old printer. There are plenty of features for printing, scanning, and copying. Setup is a breeze with the HP Smart Windows 10 app. I highly recommend these new HP OfficeJet Pro models to people that need more while working from home, but do not quite want to get into laser printing due to cost.
