Disappointed
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Didn't keep this printer, ink cartridge would've work in one bay. Also didn't care for the fact you have to do so many copies per month or everything would have to be started all over per HP. Very disappointed.

Big Business Power in Small Business Form
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the printer that I have been wanting! I have a fairly heavy print load for my regular job, add into that the workload from my home based business I started last year and I have very printer heavy needs. This printer handles the load of anything I could ever want to do at an amazing pace and has features to spare. First off, I was given a pre-release model to review, and since the app wasn't available for public use yet, I had to go to an HP specific link to download their new Smart App. This was the only task that wasn't as simple as clicking "Next". Set up was a breeze, and like other HP Printers, this printer can be enrolled in Instant Ink, which automatically sends you new ink when the printer detects you are running low (<---- AMAZING FEATURE). After setting up the printer, I loaded the printer with paper and was incredibly happy that this printer has a tray setting for envelopes, which was a gripe I had with another printer I tried. I love this feature as I typically print my envelopes for mailing my invoices What I love even more is that I can load one tray with envelopes, and the second tray with legal sheets for standard printing. After loading the printer with paper, I began playing with the smart app and interactive screen on the printer and found out that I can print anything from my Google Drive by simply selecting it from the screen! No computer required. This is amazing. I used this feature to print out tax documents, invoices, and a bunch of things that I didn't need, but I was so impressed with the ease of access and speed that the printer spit out paper at that I just kept selecting things to print. You can also use this printer to scan items to your folders or directly to your email as well! This is awesome as I have become accustom to this at my full time job and have found it as an amazing feature. Luckily, I don't need a machine that is the size of a smart car to do this, as the one at my primary employer's office is massive, but the HP OfficeJet Pro 9025 is about the size of small luggage. The quality of the prints are also very good, which really impresses me, especially considering the speed that they spit out. I am currently out of picture paper, but I did print a full page color photo on regular letter paper and was EXTREMELY impressed by the speed and quality of the photo even on regular paper. I love this printer. It has all of the modern conveniences and capabilities that any large business could benefit from, its small enough that any small business could fit the machine in a home office with ease, and cheap enough that a student could afford it. I have not had any issues or deficiencies with this printer and I hope that it lasts me a long time as I think that HP has thought of almost everything and it is making my life so much easier. Great Work HP!!!

So far, so good!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The printer is great. I can easily access it from my smartphone and scan documents directly to my phone or print from my phone. The quality is great compared to my older printers. It scans and prints fairly faster too. It's a little bulky, but its size is smaller than your typical side table. So far, I've had no issue. I did print an image from my phone and it had lines across it. This printer is definitely mainly for documents and not for images anyways, but this might be a deal breaker for others.

Great printer, infuriating setup...
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ok, so in full disclosure- I received this unit in return for this review (if that wasn't obvious). As such, there is always implicit pressure to give a positive spin when writing reviews for items that were provided to you (self-inflicted, of course; neither Best Buy nor HP would ever suggest I be anything but honest, I'm sure). I'm saying this because I want to be very clear that I really wanted to like this printer, but initially hated it. I'm coming around now, as I've had a couple of weeks with it- I would give it 3 1/2 stars if I could. But if I had to write this review on the first day, it would have been zero, if that was an option. Let me expound a bit... All of my angst is directed towards the ridiculously infuriating setup. Why so bad? Because, in their efforts to make something simple, they made it next to impossible. The instructions give you no guidance as to getting this unit setup outside of downloading their app in the appropriate app store and following its instructions. Which I did. Much in the same vein as other tech items, the first step in this setup process was to go join the printer's own wifi network, which was to be labeled as "HP setup-xxx" or something to that effect. No matter what I tried, there was never any such network ID being transmitted from the printer. I rebooted, unplugged, power cycled... nada. What I did have was a network ID which was SECURED and password-protected. No password was available anywhere. I tried the serial number, the printer PIN (on a sticker inside the ink compartment door)- nothing worked. Tried looking for help online, but none was forthcoming (other than to find out that mine was not an isolated frustration). There was instruction given as to how to reset the wifi on the printer by "swiping down" on the control screen/panel, which unfortunately didn't do jack. Finally, I was able to get off of the "setup" screen (which just consisted of a QR code that opened up the app store on your phone) and to a main menu where I was able to add the printer to my wifi manually. Which was easy, and took all of 3 minutes. I wasting an hour or more trying to go through their "idiot proof" setup process, which was doomed as the instructions didn't match what the printer was giving me. Garbage in, garbage out, they say... and that is what those setup instructions seemed to me. Yes, I could have called their 800#, but my experience with tech support in general hasn't been positive in my decades of setting up computers and accessories- and it simply shouldn't be necessary. Provide some detailed instructions, maybe even a manual (God forbid) to allow people with a modicum of knowledge the ability to get things set up on their own should they choose to do so. And maybe make sure that the instructions that ARE given actually work. So, clearly I was not feeling warm fuzzies after my setup experience. In hindsight, however, those kind of negative feelings do fade once you get things working. And that is the case here, too. Once I manually added the printer to my wifi network, it was easy to add to the app- which provides some interesting functionality. Should I choose to do so, it is fairly easy to print documents from work to my computer at home so they are there waiting on me when I arrive. That's pretty cool. This printer also utilizes the HP "Instant Ink" program, where (after your six month trial) you pay a monthly fee and they send you ink when you need it (presumably before you would run out). While it may seem a little irksome to be providing a credit card number six months in advance, particularly when it sounds as if you'll be paying for ink for a period of time, maybe even many months, before you actually need it. I'd say that thought crossed my mind, as I'm not a huge "paper" guy. I am a musician and do often print off lead sheets for myself and others in my combo, but try to keep things as digital as possible. What I'm saying is- I don't go through ink very quickly at all. Rest assured, though, that within days of signing up for the program, my first replacement ink shipment (along with prepaid return envelope to allow recycling of your old ink cartridges) showed up in my mailbox. Time will tell as to how long it will be before I need to actually install those replacements, but I imagine it will be many months. It is great to know I already have them, though. It is also very easy to cancel your subscription at any time, as well. So I think this might be a pretty decent program. Obviously, from HPs perspective, it is a way to discourage use of third party ink suppliers or (worse), people like me who might jump ship to another company's printer rather than lay out the expense needed to replace several cartridges. I do imagine that costs will likely be lower with the subscription model than if I were to replace cartridges on an "as needed" basis- but that is admittedly hard to know without a crystal ball. It does seem like pricing is pretty fair, though. On to the printer itself- it appears to be very high quality. I have used the scanner quite a bit already, which has provided really excellent results. It does have a sheet feeder, which is very handy when digitizing a stack of documents. I do use the built-in scanner app on my Mac, as I have a lot of experience with it, and it has worked flawlessly. The print quality appears to be very high quality, as well. This model does have an alternate paper drawer, where I keep check stock to print bills (from within my money management program) for mailing. Very handy, and a huge improvement from manually having to add a sheet or two every time I needed to whip off a check. Of course, the downside to this is that the printer itself is on the large side for home use- though the footprint is barely larger than my old printer it replaced. For those that are wondering, printing files from your iphone or ipad via Airprint works almost flawlessly, as well. (I did have a nuisance message come up from time to time stating that the printer appeared to have a different ID than the prior time I used it, which I attribute to its attempts to have a "secure" wireless connection- but simply pressing "continue" sends your document on to be printed. Again, the print quality is excellent for my usage. I don't typically print photos, so I'm not able to speak to its performance for that type of work. I would imagine that it is every bit as capable as any other inkjet printer on the market today, however. So, in a nutshell- this is a very capable home printer that really borders on office-worthy, even if that isn't its intended market. Print quality is excellent and the included trial for their Instant Ink program is intriguing. I'm very much looking forward to evaluating how cost-effective it is (compared to buying cartridges as needed), but suspect it is designed to be an overall cost savings for the consumer. HP would make its gains by ensuring that only official HP cartridges are used and by helping retain customers who might have brand-hopped otherwise. The whole experience was marred by inane setup instructions which didn't match what was coming from the printer itself- but once setup is completed (whether via my route of trial/error and self-discovery or by going through the hassle of calling support and waiting on a knowledgable human to help you through) I'll admit that frustration does tend to fade. If I was writing this review two or three months from now, it isn't hard to imagine that I might be giving four or even five stars, based on the unit's performance alone. So here's to hoping they improve the setup process in the very near future, whether through software updates or better documentation. Because, once you get things working, this is an excellent all-in-one combo.
