Very Nice 2 in 1- a little heave
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like this folio a lot. It looks great, and works great. I have had a couple Windows laptops/devices and the setup can be difficult. This one required me to setup a pin to log in and I could not simply use my Microsoft account alone. It switches easily from tablet to PC mode and will suggest switching when you fold the device flat like a tablet. The folio came ready to use out of the box. I plugged it in just in case as I was setting up. The setup took me 20-30 minutes (would have been less if I did not try to skip the PIN entry multiple times). The folio opens like a laptop. It is all in a leather folio case. The top is the tablet which connects magnetically to the base which is the built in keyboard. With the folio connected like this it is basically a laptop but much slimmer. There are three positions. Laptop (original); 45 degree tablet where you release the tablet from the magnet and position over the keyboard, and flat tablet where you fold the tablet flat completely covering the keyboard. When you flip to these second two positions windows asks if you want to switch to tablet mode since the keyboard is covered and not usable. Like most Windows 10, when you use PC mode it's like a regular desktop/laptop with a Start Menu similar to older Windows versions. Tablet mode switches to app and touch screen functions. Basics about the folio All in one connected, you cannot remove the tablet to use solo (without tearing the leather folio) All plug/ports are in the keyboard bottom: 3 Type C USB (for power and data) Keyboard is slim/low profile keys, and includes typical touchpad. Powered stylus with holder is included for mouse style functions.(I used very little-only to try out) I've done mostly web surfing, tried a few app games and watched Netflix movies. All worked very well. I would recommend this device to anyone. The only issue is it's a little heavy for the size/thickness.

Solid build with great flexibility and performance
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.HP has another homerun with this Spectre Folio 2-in-1 laptop. The unit feels very solid and stable. While being a touch on the heavy side the laptop shows no sign of screen wobble or questionable hinges. True to the description, switching from traditional laptop to angled viewing to tablet mode is swift and easy. HP has incorporated a leather-like folio that encases the laptop and gives it an understated elegance. If you haven't unpacked an HP laptop product yet be prepared to be blown away. Every detail of the packaging is well thought out and hints at the high quality product it protects and presents. From the magnetic latch on the ebony box to the cloth protecting the screen you are going to feel like your money was well spent. The technical specs for the product reflect the current offerings in this product category. Specifically the Intel i7 processor, 8GB of RAM and 256GB SSD combine to give you good performance while still providing above average battery life. The screen is very good, bright and sharp while being the perfect size for balancing on those undersized trays the airlines offer during your flight. Watching HD movies, surfing the web or actually doing work all are handled very capably by this little beauty. Some things to be aware of include the fact that all three of the expansion ports are USB-C style and also act as the charging port. The unit comes with a stylus and a leather loop for mounting it on the side of the unit but I have already lost the pen a couple of times and also feel that it is in a bit of a vulnerable location. In summary, I am proud to carry this product around and it always draws attention when I open it and fire it up. You owe it to yourself to consider this laptop if you are in the market for a 2-in-1!

Good design. Awesome Performance
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have owned several laptops and this is my first touch screen/ convertible laptop. I find the design of this laptop amazing. It is really slim and light with nice aesthetics. Tablet mode is useful for watching videos on the go. Also I have never used a fanless laptop. It is quiet and cool when it operates. The performance on this thing is top notch. The I7 processor coupled with the SSD drive makes loading programs and start up a breeze. The battery life last a good while too. My only complaint would be I wish it was a 15 inch screen instead 13.4. Otherwise this is an amazing tablet with great performance

Beautiful and Perfect after a year
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had a folio for over a year now and feel like I can review it properly. I love it so much. The Leather cover (that continues to look great) is so stylish and amazing. I can't imagine going back. The convertible computer works perfectly. I love the 3 positions of the screen. I thought I would use the pen a little more than I do, but when I do use it, it is very handy and works great, especially in tablet mode. The battery lasts forever. I have never run out of batter power before I was conveniently ready to dock it at my desk to charge. I just went on a 2 week vacation. Granted I didn't use it much but it never ran out the entire vacation. I want this lap top forever! Best tech purchase I've ever made.

A pleasure to use
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a fine and innovative laptop. I've used it for about a month. The leather is so much more comfortable to hold than a metal or plastic body. The hinge that lets the screen fold down makes me much more inclined to use it as a tablet than the other type of 2-in-1 where the keyboard ends up on the back. I do a lot of image and video processing and I have another machine for the heaviest loads of that work, but I've been able to do more processing on this than I expected to. It can handle short bursts of heavy processing very well. (Ordinary tasks that most people will do, like web browsing or Office tasks, are no problem at all.) The battery life is incredible. I can typically use the Folio all day without having to plug it in. The pencil is easy to use and has gotten me to use the Folio in tablet mode more than I have with other computers. The trackpad could be a little better, especially if HP had used the Windows Precision drivers, but it isn't a deal-breaker for me, and I'm very fussy about trackpads. The keyboard is fine; the screen is vibrant and colors are rich. I would recommend this laptop to anyone except those who need a more robust processor, or hardcore gamers.

I'm Smitten
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Here’s a spoiler alert: I really like the Folio! In preparation for this review, I assembled a pro and con list. I had about a dozen pros and two cons. To summarize the pros, the Folio boots up and down quickly, has good Wi-Fi range, its very lappable, the pen is excellent, the keyboard is back lit(but not the touchpad), the excellent screen does not wobble, it looks good and its noiseless. Charging took about 2.5 hours from 20% to full. Besides the lack of touchpad lighting, the only con was the exclusive use of USB-C connectors means adapters are needed for heritage connections(one USB-C to USB adapter is provided). I tried a USB-3 to HDMI adapter, and it worked fine. The integrated leather cover may seem like a joke, but, besides elegant looks, the multi-mode design of the case is well done and the leather makes it possible. This isn’t a gamer machine or a 15-open-windows device, graphic artist box, but it does “normal” tasks very well and with style. Decades ago, Ricardo Montaban used to extol the Chrysler Cordoba for its “soft corinthian leather.” HP should borrow another old Chrysler slogan for the Folio: The Folio gives you what you’ve always dreamed about in a laptop–everything.

didn't belive it
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. To me HP in Computer industry is like WALMART and I never own HP product but this is my first and to be honest I like it. Build is just great and different. I am old school so like a bit heavy electronics so Folio is just great weight. I noticed many company strugle to hit sweet spot with 2 in 1 but this is really one for me.... Keyboard is so cool and pleasant to type I Email my wife in other room just to type :-))) other thing you really feel this Laptop it is so nice to have it in your hand very rarely you will find today something like that. People from HP really put some thought for this LAPTOP Battery life is so far ok enough for my use my only complain is brightness of the screen to enjoy the real beauty of screen brightness MUST be on 100 percent and battery suffer with that.... I personally never understand thing when company introduce new laptop with high spec. they bragging about screen and screen is big selling point I agree. Then you buy the laptop and your complain is battery life first recommendation is bring brightness way down to prolong battery life...:-))) funny isn't it? Any way it is great Laptop big thanks to HP and HP team to come with nice piece of hardware...…… Respect....

Beautiful
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great performer. Doesn't get hot. Even with the thick leather casing (not removable), it's truly thin. Battery lasts for ever. That's a big thing for me. Display isn't bright enough for full afternoon glare outdoors. Almost not bright enough for outdoor shade.

Blew away my expectations!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So, I've been looking for a computer to suit my needs of being portable, long battery life, I7, versatile and have a certain feel and look and this computer was the only one to hit all of those. I love that with it be a 2 in 1, it folds over the keyboard unlike any other I've seen and in addition, the buttons aren't on the side which I love compared to my last few computers. I honestly cant find anything wrong with this computer. I will continue to buy this same computer for future models as long as they keep it the way it is. I can't stress enough how wonderful it is to find a computer like this!

Beautiful Laptop with one major flaw
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this laptop and loved how beautiful it looks and how amazing the keyboard was. However one major flaw was the trackpad drivers. the trackpad jumped around and many times false clicks occurred regularly. After reinstalling the drivers and talking to HP support I returned the laptop. After much research I realized that that HP needs to use Precision Drivers and stop using the inferior drivers it currently uses. I really wish HP would listen to most of the reviews and fix this problem, I would love to repurchase this laptop. However, If your ok with an inferior trackpad experience this is the best looking and fun laptop available. The battery life was incredible and the folio form factor is second to none,

Trackpad Issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. An XLNT laptop, well designed, great keyboard etc is marred by trackpad issues. I have reset, uninstalled, re-installed, the drivers; but to no avail. Short of carrying another mouse, this laptop, for me, is limited in its use. Researching about this issue, HP has short changed using the old Synaptics drivers as opposed to the MSFT precision drivers. Not cool. Can I work around the limitation? Yeah, sure; but @ a premium price, I would have forsaken the backlit keyboard for a well functioning mouse. Going back to BB for return. :-(

Good luck!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Died quickly. Looks great nice size but after only 3 weeks of light use, while loading some pictures from iPhone into it, screen went black. No charge / power light even! It was dead. Bricked. Thank goodness for Best Buy return policy. Loved it but afraid to try again and took a refund. Would not buy again. Maybe it was just this one that had a problem, but I expect better from HP who I have had good history with.

the most frustrating laptop I've ever had
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop about a month ago and I found it basically unusable. It stops working during a simple web search and I have to restart it multiple times during a day just to be able to scroll up and down. While watching movies, the "not have enough memory" error pops up and I have to restart the laptop again to be able to continue watching. I didn't find these problems earlier because I went to a trip right after I got this (so I am using it for only two weeks) and I cannot even return it because the deadline is passed. This is just such a disappointment.

Not functioning an hour after use
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased the laptop today and after getting through the setup process, started logging into accounts and whatnot. About 20 minutes in, the laptop just completely shut down though it is plugged in. Can't get it to turn back on. So unfortunate because it looks and feels nice. But it's basically an aesthetic piece of scrap metal bound in leather.

Good model buy why animal cruelty?
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good computing machine for the price. However it is highly disappointing that HP is using actual animal leather for a computing machine. There are plenty of synthetic leather options in this day and age. I lost respect for HP brand
