Thin, light, fast, elegant, and the most amazing display I've ever seen on a laptop. I love this thing!
Oh, and the speakers are quite nice, for a laptop, too!

Pros
Sleek design
USB-C / Thunderbolt support. Love the quick charging feature.
Has all things that the New Surface Pro didn't provide, at a reasonable price
Sturdy & excellent quality
Awesome display
Touch screen is amazing when working on DAW's(Digital Audio Workstations) that support touch instruments.
Keyboard feels very comfortable.
Cons
Don't like HP bloatware that comes with the system.
For the price, they should've installed Windows 10 Professional (or at least HP should provide a reasonable upgrade price).
Audio is fine in tent mode, but in other modes, not that loud. 2017 Mac Book Pro excels in this department.
Heat dissipation on the left side could sometimes be bothersome when system is under stress. For normal operation - like a couple of browser tabs open, watching youtube videos or running visual studio, it runs cool & comfortable.
If you come from iPad Pro (pencil), the pen would be a disappointment. But, it works for normal note talking & basic editing work.
Final Words
Overall I love the laptop. I primary use this laptop for Visual Studio development & music composition. 16 GB does make a difference for my needs.

Love this little laptop/tablet! It is going to replace my desktop computer. I just have to load my data on it. I bought a docking station to go with it and a 27" monitor. Love Windows 10. And it is great to carry around the house. During the summer I took it to the patio each morning and read the paper, while watching the birds and drinking my coffee. Perfect to use while watching TV and I want to look up something on the Internet.

This is a very nice computer; sleek, stylish, portable and brilliant screen 4K screen.. The specs on this HP Spectre are amazing compared to other Ultrabook computers in this class. i7 7500u CPU, 16GB DDR3 Memory and 512 Solid State Drive M.2 which is faster than a standard PCIe SSD HDD.
I ran a Geek Bench (GeekBench.com) CPU performance test against a Late 2016 MacBook Pro 13.3' and this machine barely came out ahead with a single core speed of 4296 and a Multi-core speed of 8420 compared to the MacBook Pro of 3908 & 7670 respectively, although a 2017 MacBook Pro 13 is faster than the HP, this HP is still a very nice computer and just a barely more expensive than a $1299 MacBook Pro.
I know this is a lot of technical jargon but let me sum this up quickly; this computer is a buy if it is you budget and you like the styling, if not.. get a MacBook Pro or a laptop with more specs and it will be faster for less or buy an entry level MacBook Pro

This laptop is top notch, I bought an open box for cheaper and even though there’s a minor defect with the hinge it doesn’t impact performance with the laptop at all. It’s got specs and a 4K screen that make other laptops cry because even at full price you’d never get all the stuff that this laptop gives you even in a 2000$ + laptop.
You might be able to get a 4 k screen but at the expense of the ram and processor. You may get a 2 in 1 but without a pen. You could maybe get a 4K but with no touch screen, however you get an i7 with 16 gb ram + a 4K touch screen and a pen included! Plus it’s thin and has excellent battery life for the size. And when you think there couldn’t be anything more impressive they throw in not one, but 2 thunderbolt 3 ports!!?? That’s unheard of in any laptop, even high end expensive laptops struggle to add even one, often going with a standard USB c. This is important to note because if you want any future proofing at all you have to have a thunderbolt 3 because it’s the only way to hook up an external graphics card box. So if you want to game a little bit a couple hundred dollars can net you a decent graphics card for doing some higher end gaming. Even if you don’t have that card you can still play some other types of games that are less intense, a good example of this is any of the civilization games, both 5 and 6 work well even if the frame rates on 6 are a little dodgy. Anyway, I needed this thing for video editing and as a tablet for reading and for a little bit of gaming and it effectively works well doing everything. So I’m definitely keeping this one!

There is no perfect machine out there, but this 4k laptop is closest.
First off, if battery life is okay for you and you don't care about or can't tell the difference of the text razer sharp quality on a 4k vs 1080p screen, then get the 1080p version. The 1080p screen is adequate and the battery is probably twice as long. You can expect about 6 hours of battery on this guy.
I told me buddy to buy this machine and then 2 weeks later I purchased mine. I bought mine as an open box and saved a bundle.
I do wish the battery lasted a little longer and that it had a spare USB 3.0 and SD card slot. Oh well, I guess I can't have everything. The USB C is very cool, and I like that the power plug can go in either way. I've had no problems with this machine and would highly recommend this machine to anyone.

I was a long time Mac user going back 2009, then finally made the jump to Microsoft Surfacebook. My son needed a new computer for college so I thought I would buy a Surface Pro 4 for him. In reviewing all the options I found the Spectre to be a better option. I loved my Surfacebook as a laptop, but was a little heavy and I didn't really use it as a detached tablet due to the size. It was also very inconvenient to use as a writing tablet detaching and physically flipping. The HP Spectre flip and go is a great feature. The HP is light, good battery life, performance has been good but sometimes a little lagging compared to my SurfaceBook with same specs except 6th gen i7 processor. I purchased an Microsoft Pen even though I received the HP pen for free. I didn't like the button placement and really like Microsoft's erase button. Nothing compares to my iPad pro for note taking, but the HP is more than acceptable if you have access to only one device. I would definitely not hesitate purchasing the HP, if you are in the market for new PC

Great features. The color grew on me but now I really like it. The unit is very fast lightweight and easy-to-use. The only consideration is the 4K resolution It's a little overrated, because not all apps and features are fully adapted to the 4K resolution. One day I'm sure the resolution will catch up to 4K in the meantime, you just have to make some adjustments

I went to Best Buy with a different laptop in mind, but was displeased with its ergonomic design. The Best Buy Blue Shirt recommended the HP Spectre, saying it met all of my requirements. Since the laptop was to be used mainly for work I called my I.T. contact with the recommendation and she readily approved. It's a beautiful machine that works beautifully.

Great Alternative to Surface Pro

At half the price of a similarly featured Surface Pro and the added benefit of USB-C, this one appealing laptop. The only drawbacks are that it does get pretty warm, the fan can occasionally get louder than you'd like, the battery life doesn't last more than a 4-5 hours of constant use, and the pen integration isn't as precise or sensitive as the Surface Pro. I've also found that resting your hand on the screen while writing can frequently lead to inadvertently touching icons, although there is some mitigation to that issue built in.
Everything else has been fantastic so far, and I'm really enjoying this thing. I do believe it's the best alternative to a Surface Pro if you don't want to spend an extra $1000.

Had this thin little beauty for about a week now and like it. Screen (4K) is significantly better than HD on my last spectre 360. Faster processor and ports are quicker for transfers. Fan goes on from time to time when laptop is resting on lap to breath better but not to loud. The big problem to me is the battery life. If in 4K mode it runs about 3 hours and that's just surfing, doing work in office 365 and viewing photos. I have had improvement when down scaling display to HD but it seems contradictory to buying 4K display in first place. I know that there are sacrifices to thin and lower price points so maybe I will keep this but am not sure yet as I have 30 days to decide.

The late spring 2017 HP Spectre x360 is an ultraportable with top-of-the-line features. I have the 4K screen version. That means battery life is not the highest but vids and less-intensive games are going to look great (no discrete graphics card). The overall drawbacks are that the body gets hot b/c of all that power. You need to make sure it has ventilation on the sides and underneath to help it to stay cool. Also, HP uses a pen technology (N-trig) that doesn't allow true artists to maximize drawing techniques that a WACOM product would allow you to take advantage of. Nevertheless, it is competent. This laptop will meet most people's everyday needs.

First laptop purchased had to go back as the battery wouldn't last beyond 2 hours. Excellent BB customer service ensured a no-quibble for a swap out to a new unit.
No problem with battery life on 2nd unit but the cursor has a tendency to stick/go awol.
All drivers were/are up to date but I went through the procedure if re-applying all HP device drivers and made sure BIOS is up to date too.
That was a few days ago and no repeat of sticky mouse.
I really want this laptop to work ; I love the design and the capability of the device... I don't want to have to think on an alternative laptop. The Spectre is much better value than Surface IMHO.

I buy this as an upgrade to my Intel I5 2 in 1. This one is I7, compact (just the right size) and powerfull. Great resolution, and elegant style. Hp did a great job on the apearance of this little toy. The SSDD (solid state disk drive) is big enought and fast enought. I am satisfied with my purchase.
