The HP Spectre is hyper-fast, good looking and has a brilliant and sharp contrast screen, I haven't used all the features yet, but I like it a lot. I had the 13" but I found the screen a bit smaller than my previous Apple MacBook Air so I switched to the 15", which is great, but it is a bit heavier.

It heats up quite quickly; the speakers are excellent for music and streaming videos etc, but when not in use, they are quite noisy; no SD card slot though enough ports for plugging in external card reader etc; the battery does not last as long as claimed, even when just uploading photos and doing normal emails, etc; the Pen is not as effective as my fingers. But these are not deal breakers.

This notebook is nearly perfect. When I purchased the Spectre X-360 I knew I was buying probably the best notebook available on the planet. My only complaint is the USB port locations. The full size USB Port is on the left side. I plug my mouse in this port. I use my right hand to control my mouse....doesn't everyone? (I'm left handed...but I still use my right hand for mousing) I've never seen a mouse with USB-C connector. So I connect my mouse on the left side of the machine and wrap the cable around the back to the right side. The 2 USB-C ports are on the right side of the notebook. So if I am charging, I have the charging cable fighting for desk space with the mouse. It's extremely awkward and a huge design mistake. Just silly. If the engineers could not figure this out....I wonder what else is awkward or backwards inside the notebook?? Actually the port locations are my only gripe. Otherwise it is a beautiful machine and has been operating flawlessly.

You definitely get a lot of bang for your buck here! Now I don't game, but I do just about everything else with this unit. I knew before hand that I'd be sacrificing some battery life for this beautiful 4k screen, but for me it's worth it. I don't use it all day and I don't get the battery drain some were experiencing overnight a while back. I use it a couple hours here and half hour there thus It's great for my use. At least it has quick charge capabilities. Pros *Gorgeous 4K (Non pentile) Movies are sharp & detailed and it's easier for me to read *7th Gen (Kaby Lake) i7-7500U processor -Battery life appears to be better (for what your getting) than on my older skylake (6th generation), but it's so tough to figure out because they're different configurations. And I have no slow downs as the kabylake appears to be more responsive. YMMV *16g DDR3 RAM *512GB solid state drive *Fast boot time (Less than 6 seconds counting windows hello) *Active Pen (Included) with Pen & handwriting recognition (works well for me) And I use an old Yoga Lenovo stylus usb adaptor/holder to to keep it attached to the machine when not in use. *Quick Charge HP states 50% in 30 minutes (I've got to 90% in 85 minutes). I'm happy with that. *I'm glad that there's Windows Hello on this version *Keyboard 1.3 mm of key travel & 60 grams of actuation (both good for how I type), keyboard extends all the way out to the edge (though I'm still warming up to the home key, page up key and such on living completely the right side) *Web Camera is on top *Good trackpad *Speakers (Quad speakers) sound great They get loud enough (even in tablet mode. * 2 USB 3.1 Type C Ports (I always carry a multi-port adapter with ethernet capability *Thunderbolt 3 support on both of the usb type C ports (So I'm future proof) *Trouble free wireless connections *Beautiful Dark Ash Color Scheme (Better contrast worth the keyboard) *Weghs less than 3 lbs & measures a half an inch thick thus making tablet mode easier Cons *No SD card, but 512gb is big enough for my needs. Also if need to transfer files I can just use my trusty old usb-c and standard usb adapter shown in the pic below *Only 5-6 hours of battery on 75% brightness so I can do better with if I lower the brightness. So one mentioned that you also decrease the resolution to save some juice. Not necessary for e to do either yet. *Only one level of backlighting *Screen is sort of glossy *Can't charge with battery pack (And I was never promised that I could, but it would have been nice) -Can get hot (not just warm) and the fan noise may start or increase during basic tasks TLDR: Get it! It looks great and functions even better for less (OF YOUR MONEY) than other machines in this category!

I bought this laptop mainly to use for school and for netflix. It is thin and small enough to fit in my backpack which was the point of buying it. The laptop is really fast and works great for what I need. The 4k display is amazing super crisp and clear, perfect for watching movies on! The i7 in the model I got is quick on startup even with fast start-up disabled! I use the face recognition to unlock the laptop and it recognizes me within 2 seconds. Typing on this keyboard is really nice, the keys feel great for a laptop. The 2-1 feature is also an added bonus, I rarely will use it but just having it available is nice to know. The build quality is amazing, metal casing was the perfect choice for this light laptop and the hinges are very sturdy too! Overall this is a great laptop for the money and I would recommend it!
