I bought this laptop knowing I would have to travel for work a lot. I use it as a personal machine and to run my blog part time. I didn't want to have to carry two heavy laptops through the airport. This HP is so lightweight and easy to transport. I absolutely love the versatility of the screen (great for getting work done or flipping around to watch Netflix). It overheats pretty quick depending on the surface (some hotel desks for example). I was also surprised that some of my heavier software (like Adobe Illustrator) crashes more often than I'd like. But overall a great machine.

This is a feature-packed computer. I love the facial recognition scanning, touch screen and creative applications. The screen is super sensitive and we need to figure out how to adjust the sensitivity, but I can’t think of anything else I would change.

Looks amazing and is very fun, has great programs and I use it for practically everything. I had an issue one day where the screen lights were on but my home/desktop page wouldn't load or show up. The screen was just blank, it took like 15 minutes for anything to show up and I don't know why it happened. At the same time, the lock/ login screen showed images. Haven't had the issue again. When in tablet mode it gets kind of hot. the touchpad/mouse works pretty well, sometimes have to click twice. I love the OneNote program, but sometimes the pen doesn't let you choose certain colors like the galaxy/lava special colors. Other positives are the speakers, keyboard, and lightweight portability. The ink program is very responsive and works nicely. I am very happy with my spectre.

Fell in love with the looks when I first saw it over a year ago! PROS; Works well, powerful! Slim, Lightweight, but Sturdy. Good finish, doesn’t seem like it would wear off Large screen, but not too large! Prefer it to the comparable Dell, where the screen occasionally seemed too close to the edge and I would accidentally close windows by brushing against it. Screen stays in position placed even when lifted Nice keyboard - feel and size CONS; Occasionally gets warm when pushed.

I love this laptop from HP. I have it as a gift to my dear sister. It's light weight. Can be used as a tab. Has touchscreen feature. Has SSD and that too 512 MB. Very high performing i7 processor. I would recommend this laptop.

I was in the market for a laptop that would last me a while. I was looking for something small and portable . It came down to the top 2 laptops in the market and this was one of them at this size. The 13 inch HP Spectre is a great laptop where speed is no problem. I consider myself a medium power user and this laptop has delivered. There have been some software quirks but nothing show topping yet. You will need external dongles if you want to do something like hook up like ethernet or hdmi but the cost is minimal.

Great as a Ubuntu laptop; superb build quality

The first thing I did was boot to Windows and use it's built in partition manager to split the hard drive partition. Then I installed Ubuntu Linux 16.04LTS on the new partition. Now it's dual boot. With one exception, all the standard laptop stuff works in Ubuntu, including the touchscreen. The only thing that doesn't work is the laptop does not suspend when I close the cover. So I have to remember to suspend before I put it away. This is only a problem when running on battery. Ubuntu does not support tablet mode on this computer. Fold the computer into a table and it's only somewhat functional : in tablet mode the physical keyboard is disabled and the touch screen works - but there's no soft-keyboard and no facility for doing things that normally require the keyboard - like launching applications. I've only used Windows 10 a couple times and it seems to work well. It has all the usual annoyances that come with Windows. Forcing users to wait for long updates when shutting down or starting up. Prompts to pay for virus protection. I'll stick with Linux for most things. Apple Mac Book Pro is the gold standard in build quality. I've been using those for years. Though it's not a milled aluminium chasis, this is as close to that level of quality as I've ever seen in a laptop. The 4K screen is outstanding and goes bright enough to use outdoors in the sun. As a software developer, 16GB RAM is a "must have" for me and I'm happy with the performance. My external monitor works great too.

I engaged in a fair amount of research and had it down to this or the latest Yoga (had the Yoga 2 before), this was in stock and I needed a new machine then and there so I went with it. No regrets. Super light, thus far durable (against my own clumsiness as well as the efforts of 4 and 8 year old children). Very fast, I can run Visual Studio, various Adobe apps, and a number of Chrome tabs without it flinching. Some reviews have suggested the hinge goes after a while, not an issue yet.

The first one I purchased had an issue where the computer would freeze regularly for anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes. Because I liked everything else, I exchanged a couple days later for the same model. I have not had any issues since, and really like the computer. I wish it had a way to attach the pen to the laptop when not in use (like Surface), but I solved this with a third-party adhesive pen loop.

I'll try to keep this relatively short and sweet. In my opinion this is the best Windows laptop in this price, form-factor, and configuration. The price for an i7 16GB 512GB device is pretty much unbeatable and the design is very sexy. Sleek, nice lines, but also very thin and light. The fan does kick on pretty quickly, even with light use, but you can tweak these settings to underclock the processor some if you're only doing light work - the difference is negligible to keep it cool and keep the fan from whirring up. The REAL problem is the trackpad. Unfortunately, this is one of the worst trackpads on a premium device. Just using the trackpad alone to browse, instantly it feels like you're on a $199 HP stream. It's way to clicky and has too much resistance with the click. The two finger scroll was also very finicky and less responsive than it should be - though this is likely a mix of windows/synaptics software, and the physical trackpad itself. Overall, it feels like it was ripped right out of a way cheaper laptop. This is a shame, because it cheapens the whole experience and ultimately ruined the laptop for me. I ended up returning it, and splurging $1000 more on a different device with the same specs - just to get a better, more reliable, trackpad (and overall more cohesive and well-built device) A pretty big bummer for my pockets, since I thought I could get all that for way less. Anyway, it's all a matter of preference. If you don't mind the trackpad then pull the trigger. Awesome device, otherwise.

Even though this laptop got the "black screen" after a window's update, I'll still give it 5 stars. Had to take it in to the Geek Squad to get it fixed. My favorite attributes for it are: screen colors and sharpness, keyboard, overall dimensions and light weight. The battery has been more than adequate for me, so far, although I haven't really tested it. My only negative would be that it gets warmer on the bottom than my old laptop.

I would give the computer a 5 star however the first one was defective and required replacement. The first computer apparently had a defective battery which would over heat and had a very short life (1 1/2 hours). I must give Best Buy 5 stars for taking care of the problem in a very painless manner; something I'm not sure I would have obtained from an online merchant. The replacement computer has been a 5 star product. The key board (which is very important to me) is excellent. The speed of the computer and 16 g of RAM is great. I recently purchased an equivalent Apple Mac Book Pro for my son which cost the same as the HP Spectre. However the Mac Book had 1/2 the memory, 1/2 the RAM and a much slower processor. The Mac Book also did not have a touch screen. Time will tell if durability is the same. My son's last Mac Book was 5 years old and was still going strong and I'm on my second Spectre in 3 weeks. Also I'm still not crazy about Windows 10 when compared to 7 or Mac OS. Time will tell how good the computer is in regards to durability but for now I am enjoying the HP Spectre
