In the last years the competition in the windows laptops is growing, with the alternative of the tablets the models don’t only need to fight for what is inside but also the aesthetics and the portability, there is no more a need for the purchaser to compromise quality, price, size, power… and in this race hp is always a serious contestant. This HP Spectre x360, 2 in 1 laptop is not an exception but an example of a win/win for the user. The design is for sure one great asset, starting by the silver/aluminum color that is classy on its own, followed by the compact design that provides a lightweight feeling and a special refence to the leather like pouch (with space for your pen) included. The design includes this time the electrical charger that comes with a stylish braided cord. To end with the appearance/exterior part, I need to mention that the 13 inches screen takes all the top part, there is no lost space for the frame that takes the bare minimum. Same space maximization technique is reflected in the keyboard part, where the space taken by big size keys is balanced with less space for the mouse pad but always with space for the finger scan. Again, the winner is the owner that carries a portable device with all the visible surface maximized, important notably because being a 2-1 laptop you are certainly thinking in using this as tablet sometimes. For connectivity, the laptop is equipped with an audio jack, an usb-a port, two usb-c (including one for the power) and a micro SD card reader and the new addition of a camera switch off button. With all of that, I am ready to take the road, but this is not the most impressive set of connectivity tools when I work from home and I need to connect to a big screen and peripherals. That makes me think in buying some type of work or docking station. The initial setup is quite fast and is impressive the little knowledge required from the users to personalize your account and windows 10. The anecdote here is that it took more than a couple of seconds to figure out where is the on bottom (in the left top corner), not obvious at first but a nice way (again) to use literally each corner of the laptop. Once your account is setup, to unlock the laptop, you can go traditional with the password code but also the fingerprint and with the facial recognition that seems to be working most of the time. I mentioned that the screen is 13 inches that in my life serves for working when I am in the move but also to watch a nice movie when flying. This laptop is not having a 4K screen but the HD1080 with a quite clear display that seems to benefit the contrast and colors perceived. The sound is impressive with the two stereo speakers placed under the keyboard delivering an immersive sense for music or videos, notably when the laptop is placed as tablet mode, Bang and Olufsen technology. Battery life is also a great asset in this laptop averaging a full 8 hrs work time without wiring to power. a regular working day means the use of word, excel and some videos plus the regular navigation. The processor and memory are among to the top in the market with a core i7 processor and plenty of space for storage. My only but until now, is related to the mouse pad that doesn’t seem always to react to the movement of fingers. With a quick search in google, seems to be related more to drivers than to hardware and is a release.

Bought this for my wife and she is by no means a super user. She needed it to watch some videos and work on Word and Excel files. Within 4 hours, the screen started to flicker and change multiple colors and the fan started to hum loudly while she was on the plane. I returned it as soon as she returned without issue. The super thin design is nice but not at the expense of defective products. We ended up going with a Lenovo and have had no issues since.

The HP Spectre laptop is super light & portable which makes it especially nice for students! It also runs very quickly compared with my not very old standard laptop. The battery life is great. I can use this laptop for so long before I even have to think about plugging it in, so I can get work done and not decide where to sit based on where the nearest outlet is. I love the touch screen, it responds quickly, and I’ve used it to sign documents electronically, which is convenient. The stylus is really nice too, so I’ve done a lot of doodling with it, and being able to convert the laptop into a tablet is great for this. The only thing close to a complaint I have is that when I’m using this laptop and it’s sitting on the couch or a blanket, the fan starts running pretty loudly, but that’s to be expected so I don’t mind. Overall this is a really nice ultrabook/laptop!

I recently purchased this product to replace my old laptop for school, but when i wanted to watch a video in fullscreen it would flip out and start to flicker like the screen is broken(happened to 2 of them) not only that but the power brick gets extremely hot when you are charging the laptop while using it, i ended up getting a first degree burn when i tried to move it.
