I had light bleeding around the edges. Two keys kept sticking. Returned a week later. It was likely a bad unit, yet not uncommon from my last experience with last years model, that too was returned. This laptop felt great! Great overall design. Just too high maintenance for me. It will be the last time I try an HP laptop.

I am very happy with this laptop, I used to have HP almost 7-8 Years back after that I moved to Dell , Lenovo, Mac, Surface etc. now again back to HP. I am so happy with this Spectre, Super cool design and style makes you cool. It is thin, Since i used almost all top notched laptop, I can say this laptop surely stands in my top 5 list. You will not regret it. Let's come to details. It will come in nice package with all the things inside, You will feel there is nothing inside :) so you can image this weight :). 13.3" screen perfect for 2 in 1 laptop, flip and fold design works perfect. Performance - This is SSD and 8GB RAM works super smooth without any issues. Display is very good, full HD. Fingerprint reader works great, I remember using the same fingerprint readers couple years back on some laptop that time it was horrible it works sometime and it does not work, i ended up turning off the reader, but this works perfect without any issues. Camera is good, shows clear picture which is important when we do skype calls. Like any other current trendy laptops this also do not have CD drive. 2 TYPE C AND 1 TYPE A USB ports, 1 headphone jack, 1 micro SD card reader slot and 1 HDMI. Nice it has everything. Keyboard is good no issues. You will not disappoint with this laptop. Go for it. Hope my review helps you to decide your new laptop purchase process and advanced congratulations for your new laptop.

Issues with Laptop and Best Buy

I decided to buy this laptop as it got great reviews. Although it was more than I wanted to spend, I figured it would be worth it in the end. Unfortunately, this was not the case. AFTER JUST 50 DAYS OF OWNERSHIP THE COMPUTER HAS ISSUES. The laptop's fan kicks on when plugged in intermittently while making a lot of noise. I started researching and it there were some suggestions online on how to fix... it didn't work. I worked with HP and they said it is a hardware issue and I would need to send the computer in for service. This is not an option as I need to computer. I called Best Buy and the manager said they would not take it back to swap it out for a new one. VERY disappointing customer service from Best Buy. Very disappointing product.

1400 bucks for a crappy laptop. Doesn't connect to my printer and the fingerprint scan rarely works. Such a waste of money. And the web root security system from bestbuy is also garbage.

My family was looking for another laptop+ and we decided to get this device. When I unpacked it, my wife got a little frustrated, ask me, “Why did we get another chrome book?” because of its size and and slim profile. She ate those words quite quickly after the easy and fast setup process. This was no chrome book. This was a full service laptop 2-in-1 device in a chrome book’s clothing (like a wolf in sheep’s clothing :-) ). Quick note! Since it took me a while to find it. The power button is on the top right corner edge above the keyboard. It was so integrated, as is the rest of the sleek design, it made it difficult to find. Once we did, as I said before, setup was quick and easy. This computer is probably not going to handle gaming, but for our uses of internet browsing, video watching, photo editing, etc, this device is perfect. The illuminated keyboard is probably one of the best I’ve seen. Some keyboards are hard to see when not lit up, HP has made sure that is not an issue. The main feature on this device, battery life!!!! Don’t let its slim design fool you. The battery in this HP just keeps going. Not being tied down to a wire for charging was a definite plus when trying to get stuff done and keeping up with our kids running around. I would definitely recommend this device to others. The price tag is slightly above average, but what you get in terms of battery life and a lightweight, versatile device is worth it!

After reading all the reviews, I thought I had finally decided on a new laptop...nope. The screen on my Spectre died after only 27 days. I contacted HP for repair, which was a mistake because I should have just returned it to best buy, and it took them almost a month to get the computer back to me. I powered it up to have the screen work only to show me a error screen. Turns out one of the cooling fans had died and the system was going to automatically shutdown in 20 seconds. Luckily, best buy took it back and gave me a full refund. Guess I should go Mac for my next computer.

    An incredible machine

This little HP Spectre laptop is quite an amazing machine. Laptops have come a long way from the first ones I worked with, in every way they can be measured. I’ve worked professionally in the computer field for 30 years, so I have a bit more insight than most. In fact, I worked for a company back in the 90’s designing the first thin and light notebook computers. At that time those were state of the art. I recall launching our newest, fastest laptop featuring a 486 processor, 512MB of memory, and a huuuuge 1GB hard drive! For it’s day, that was an amazing machine and it cost several thousands of dollars to own one. When I’d bring one of those on an airplane it would draw attention. Remember this was in the 1990’s. Fast forward to 2019 and laptop computers have advanced so far beyond what we had thought was possible in a small consumer product. It’s really quite startling how far technology has come. The HP Spectre laptop has more power, more features, more capacity than even the desktop computers from just a few years ago. It’s an incredible device, let me tell you a bit about it. The form-factor is just packaged so well, it is super thin and super lightweight. I remember how hard we worked on creating thin notebooks back 20 years ago, and those would dwarf the size of the Spectre. The average consumer has no idea how much engineering goes into designing and creating a device like this. The materials used to build the chasis and the outer shell aren’t something most consumers thing about. But it’s vital to use specific materials to ensure stiffness, rigidity, heat dispersion, strength, resistance to scratches, texture, environmental temperatures, and so on. The hinge design is also extremely critical, to ensure they never fail. The ports and inlets need to survive intact over hundreds or thousands of hours of use. This is a science in and of itself, and most people won’t notice it. I do though, and I’m very impressed with Spectre. It’s construction is top notch, HP engineers did a great job figuring out the right materials to use to create the body of this machine. I feel confident that this laptop will last a very long time without failure. And on top of all the functional necessities that the body must provide, it’s also beautiful to look at and to hold. A great design all around! Powering the Spectre is a 10th generation Intel i7 processor (specifically a i7-1065G7), which Intel introduced in Q3 of 2019. This processor is state of the art, you are getting the latest in CPU technology for laptops in this computer. I could write a full paper on how amazing this processor is. Think about this, the processor has 4 cores, sort of like having 4 independent CPU’s all in one unit working in harmony. Each runs at a base frequency of 1.3 GHz, with boosts up to 3.9 GHz (turbo speed). It connects to the rest of the system on a 4 GT/s bus (giga transfers per second). Think of that as a multi-lane super highway by which data is transported around. It’s super fast, resulting in extremely low (unnoticeable), latency. An i7 CPU like the one used in the Spectre has over 2.1 Billion transistors on a chip not much bigger than your fingernail. It’s mind boggling, the amount of engineering in this chip alone is worthy of a much higher price tag than you’ll pay for this whole system. But maybe you’re not into all the techno-mumbo-jumbo. You just want a machine that will perform and impress! Well, let’s talk about that… This is an extremely versatile computer, it does many things extremely well. It replaces your desktop computer, it replaces your tablet computer, it replaces your gaming computer, it doubles as an entertainment center. The Spectre is to laptops what the smartphone is to a cell phone. It’s a Swiss-Army knife of technological functionality packaged together in a sleek yet durable design. You can seriously replace a lot of single function devices with this machine. Making the cost of ownership extremely affordable! So let’s take a look at what it can do… The combination of the latest generation of i7 processor (i7-1065G7), embedded onto a super fast bus, connected to 8GB of high speed, high bandwidth RAM, pouring data in and out of a 512GB SSD that uses 32GB of Intel Optane memory results in incredible performance! Whether you are cranking out giant spreadsheets, rendering vectorized graphics, playing the most intense VR game, facetiming with your coworkers, or editing your family home videos - the HP Spectre will do it all in stride! The processing power of this mini-might is just incredible. All of that performance needs an equally great display to show off visually, without lag, and in realistic colors. The 13.3” screen does just that, it’s really beautiful! I love the vivid colors that it renders, on a panel that looks great straight-on or even from an angle. The bright backlight makes it possible to use this laptop outdoors, where lesser display panels would get washed out. The color depth and clarity are as good as those on laptops costing hundreds more. And of course the screen on this laptop does a neat gymnastic type trick, literally doing a backflip to morph from a laptop into a tablet. The Spectre has an engineered hinge that allows the planel to fold back on itself, and in doing so disables the keyboard and touchpad. When transformed into this configuration screen shows off its touch sensitivity. You can use the panel just like you would a tablet, or smartphone. You can use your fingers or the included pen for detailed work. The sound system built-into the Spectre is from high-end Swiss audiophile company Bang & Olufsen. That’s just another remarkable part of this system, HP did not cut any corners when designing and building the Spectre. B&O make highly regarded top-end audio systems, that cost more as discrete audio components than this entire laptop retails for. I’m blown away! The audio coming from such a small and thin device is impressive. Piping the audio out to headphones or your home entertainment center is even better! The backlit keyboard is just great, and easy to see in a dark room. The touchpad is big and responsive, yet not jittery or imprecise like some lesser laptops I’ve owned. The sides and corners of the Spectre provide ports for every modern connection. The built-in camera provided me sharp, lag-free video streaming. The webcam kill switch is a terrific and thoughtful switch that HP engineers decided to include. Very clever! The high speed WIFI capabilities are beyond what my current Internet Provider can accommodate, so I’m guaranteed not to be outdated any time soon! The transmit and receive rates are faster than my desktop computer! There are so many things I can rave about this system, with very few negatives. Actually the only negative for me is the price. But you get what you pay for in this world. If you want the best, if you want something that will last, you have to spend a bit more. In my opinion with all things considered, the power and performance to price offering of the Spectre is a spectacular deal. My favorite feature? It’s so hard to say, because there’s so much to like here. But I’ll say it’s a tie between the long battery life and the gem-like design of the unit as a whole. I’ve run this thing on battery for over 14 hours before needing to find a plug. It’s a long distance runner for sure! The all aluminum body, and high quality build, in a shapely form make even ardent Apple owners look over and admire this machine. I recommend you buy one!

I bought this for my college bound daughter during the pandemic. With online classes, she needs a good microphone and speaker. Everything was fine for the first couple of months. Now, suddenly, she is having intermittent microphone trouble. Since she is away at school (but mostly online), we cannot have it serviced until the end of November. Anyone have suggestions for trouble shooting? Thanks.

This HP laptop is fantastic. The build quality is superb - all metal case, lovely keyboard with illumination, crisp display, excellent trackpad, great fingerprint reader. 1 USB 2.0 port, 2 USB C ports, and a microSD port. No Ethernet port and no HDMI port. Processor is fast and there is plenty of RAM. The SSD is also fast. There wasn't a lot of bloatware installed. The latest build of Windows 10 (1903) was installed which saved the hassle of having to go through a million updates before using the machine. The battery lasts more than 5 hours while doing basic computer stuff with the screen brightness turned up. It comes with a padded vinyl sleeve that has a place to store the digital pen. All in all, if you are looking for a fast, sturdy, and beautiful laptop that is compact and easy to travel with this is a device to strongly consider.

This is my 2nd Spectre, so clearly I was happy with the first. This one set up okay, and seems to have an improved mouse pad. Unfortunately, at less than six weeks old, it seems to have a power supply problem. First it just started to randomly flicker, and slowed down dramatically. Now it won't take a charge -- the charger is fine, the PC isn't. Have been on hold now with HP for about an hour - poor support. Frustrating... just past the 30 BestBuy return window, and stuck with a brick of a laptop.

The web is full of complaints about the same issue I've found with my new X-360. Its battery life is only 6 hours, and everyone is complaining about this. On HP's own site their folder is full of people who are fuming mad that they have been deceived. The computer runs fine otherwise, but this battery life issue is huge. Do not buy this product. Battery life will decline from 6 hours when new to....??? Maybe 2-3 hours? I believe a class action suit lies ahead because of this product.

I exchanged my first Spectre after one week when it would not charge up. Then it happened after one week of exchanging for a new HP after one week. As I'm working from home and am a CONSULTANT, I ended up having to get any laptop of similar quality that my local Best Buy had in stock. Terrible experience. My local Best Buy handled this well allowing me to pick up at the front door and following COVID protocols.

The computer itself was sleek and portable, the design was attractive and featured functions were up to date and advanced. The system functions were poor though. The screen would shut off randomly and would not turn back on. I had to return this computer twice.
