Small but powerful 2in1 laptop
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sleek, slim, silver- this laptop looks attractive, and performs even better than expected. The first thing after the outside of the laptop that I noticed was the power cord; it comes in two parts, with a braided cord for extra durability. With this cord and the Thunderbolt port, charging completes very quickly. Other devices can connect to this port, or the other USB C port. There's also a collapsible USB 2.0 port, but no HDMI or ethernet ports. The Wifi 6 technology with dual antenna makes the connection such that you won't miss the option for ethernet. I used it in a room where Wifi is sometimes spotty on other devices, and this had no hesitation in loading pages or downloading. It has incredible battery life, especially when you consider how quickly it charges. The screen resolution is beautiful, with clear colors and pictures. One of my favorite features is the fingerprint scanner. This works really well and eliminates the need to log in with a password each time. It has some of the best features of a tablet, combined with the best from a laptop- the scanner, great picture and sound (with its dual speakers), and the Intel i7 processor. Another thing a lot of people will like is the switch that turns off the camera, for privacy, if you're concerned about outside access to your camera. The Intel Optane memory boosts the SSD, so that it speeds up performance, including the loading of saved files and programs. For some, the 8GB of RAM might seem like it's not enough to some, and there isn't a way to upgrade yourself, but it isn't an issue for me. I had no problems with anything I did on this, and it's more than enough when you consider how smoothly the whole system runs. Overall, that's what I observed and found most impressive- the wifi, the processor, the memory and drive all work at speeds that keep things moving, whether you're using this for internet browsing, or more resource intensive tasks. It's not a gaming computer, but you don't buy one this size for that. It's compact without sacrificing performance. It doesn't have an optical drive, which is typical for a laptop of this size. It comes with a sleeve that's a perfect fit; it offers protection without adding bulk, maintaining portability. The sleeve also has a spot to hold the HP stylus pen that came with this model. It can be used in different modes, not just the usual laptop position. Folding the keyboard back to hold it like a tablet is another option, but those aren't the only two positions. The keyboard is also easy to use, and doesn't feel too small. It's comfortable to use. It's also backlit, so you can see better in low light. I found this laptop as portable as a tablet, with the power one might expect in a larger laptop, or even your average desktop. It definitely exceeds expectations, as it's more than just the sum of its parts. It was clearly designed so those parts enhance each other without the need for a bigger device, and will be versatile enough for most users to be very satisfied with this purchase.

Burned out with little use
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Junk. 2 years later the motherboard is toast. Computer had minimal use over 2 years, not even an hour a day . It's a known issue with this model and a replacement motherboard is almost $1000, as much as the laptop.

DO NOT BUY--DEFECTIVE MOTHERBOARD AND BATTERY!!!
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My Spectre started having power issues (shutting down suddenly while in use) within DAYS. HP diagnosed that both the battery AND motherboard were defective, and my Spectre has been sitting in an HP repair shop ever since. WASTE OF MONEY. STAY AWAY FROM HP.

Attention to detail
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Maybe my favorite detail about this laptop is the little spring-loaded cover over the USB A port on the left side of the case. When there's nothing in the port, the cover maintains the contours of the case, but there's enough of a gap that you can easily push it down with the bottom edge of the USB plug and slide your cable in. That level of detail seems to be extended to the rest of this laptop. The screen has great resolution and brightness and only the thinest of bezel space on the sides. The camera is minuscule and easily hidden in the bezel above the screen. The chicklet-style keyboard has great feel, and the backlight below the keys has two levels of brightness. The included pen pairs easily and operates with almost zero lag, and it responds to varying levels of pressure. Switching to tablet mode is quick and seamless by folding the keyboard back behind the screen. One of the USB C ports is in the notch at the top of the case, so the power cord stays more out of the way when you're using it while plugged in. The other notch conceals the power button, so you're less likely to accidentally hit it. There's plenty of graphics power as it handles a second, external monitor without any difficulty. I can find nothing really to criticize here. Just a really, good solid performer in an ultraportable package.

A beautiful machine
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was in desperate need of a new laptop for work. I debated between this HP and another big name brand, ultimately deciding on the HP and I am so glad I did! It is so fast and responsive. Switching between browser tabs, apps and even from tablet mode and back is so quick. The responsiveness of the touch screen in tablet mode is unbeatable. I create a lot of spreadsheets for work and this laptop has no problems keeping up with my data entry, constantly typing, deleting or copying/pasting without ever missing a beat. The sound quality blew me away for such a small machine and I can enjoy listening to music in the background while I work without the tinny sound you normally get from laptop speakers. The graphics are gorgeous and the colors are so vibrant; watching webinars and streaming TV isn’t so bad on this small screen. I love the tablet mode for reading ebooks and articles. The versatility of this computer to be able to work and play simultaneously without either function suffering is ingenious. I am still enjoying exploring all of the features. It's a well built machine.

A powerhouse in a compact package
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. On my desk sit two different HP laptops - the brand new one I just received from my employer, and the Spectre x360. When I tell you they could not possibly be more different from one another, it's the absolute truth. HP design and quality of materials has come a long, long way since the last time I had to get a new laptop. I compare the build quality of this device to any Macbook Pro, with its metal finish and nearly borderless touchscreen display. The device is incredibly responsive and with a Core i7 processor makes everything run far smoother than my AMD based work computer. My favorite feature is the concept of being ablet to fold the whole display unit over onto itself and use the device as a tablet, with the included pen providing a lot of extra functionality that I didn't think I'd use initially. You will not want for anything more in a laptop once you check this device out, and I'm looking forward to my next trip in a few weeks where I can be productive on the plane and still have some room to move thanks to the small footprint.

Elegant performer!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've spent the last few days trying my new HP Spectre 360 out and I'm already super impressed!! First off, it's tiny. I was perviously using a 12" competitor I bought a few year back and I though that was small. The HP is a touch longer but is not as wide and is a little more rectangular. It sports a larger screen which is fantastic. Even though my previous 12" had a 4K screen, I don't miss it. The HP screen is stellar plus it handles HDR. That's a huge plus! Even though this laptop is small, it's very powerful! It has the new gen 10 Intel i7 processor and I can certainly tell a difference in speed from my previous model. Basic functions are much zippier and the WIFI 6 modem is also noticeably faster. That additional Optane memory certainly helps. The one thing I wish I purchased more of was RAM. This unit has 8Gb but could easily benefit from the 16Gb offered as an option. If you are looking at this laptop, get the additional RAM. The build quality is absolutely fantastic. It feels super solid and sturdy. It has a modern beveled feel and the smallest details are refined. I can't believe they got an IR camera in that tiny bezel area. It's astounding. I love using Windows Hello to sign in but it also offers a fingerprint reader too. It's super easy to set up both. It even has a camera kill switch if you want additional privacy. The keys feels nice and their backlighting is quite good. The keys are larger than I thought they would be for such a small space. The trackpad seems to be very responsive as well, but I prefer using a mouse. I haven't tried out the included touch screen pen but I imagine it's a very useful tool for anyone who needs such a device. I also haven't tried the touch screen feature but I imagine that all touch screens these days are very responsive. The included HP suite of applications is not overbearing and actually quite useful. I hated the manufacturer software that my previous laptop had loaded on it and it's a nice surprise that HP understands this. Overall, set up was super easy and fast and I had this laptop ready and loaded with all my old applications in about 2 hours, tops. Most of that was me taking my time and not any issue with the HP. This new HP Spectre 360 has been a very nice surprise and if you need a small laptop that packs a pretty good punch, this baby should do nicely. Again, go for the extra RAM. You won't be disappointed. I'm looking forward to using it for years to come.

Classy laptop
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had many HP computers and my windows laptop is old. I have a new desktop with Optane memory and very happy with it. So, the HP Spectre seems like a good choice. The laptop is certainly stylish and appears to be well made. I had trouble finding the power switch as it is located in the back-left side. It takes a little getting used to. This is the first windows computer I have owned without a hard drive and I am hesitant to install some programs until I am more familiar with the SSDrive. The startup instructions were easy and my files on my desktop were automatically displayed on the Spectre. It took about an hour to update the system/drivers and also all the Windows store apps. Blotware not too bad. For the price HP could have given a year of antivirus protection as 30 days is not very long. Privacy is enhanced by the hard switch to turn the camera/microphone on or off. The keyboard is small but easy to type on. I do miss a dedicated number pad. I wanted a Windows laptop as a bridge between my Desktop. Using Microsoft office on My Chromebook and/or Samsung tablet has not been very satisfactory as Microsoft office apps are not full featured enough on android devices. Since I do a lot of Excel and Word and some Access, I wanted a laptop with Windows 10. I am pleased with the improvements in the fingerprint reader, and the backlit keyboard. The Bang & Olufsen, stereo speakers, HP Audio Boost sound is good and there is a setting control panel and you can adjust sound for movies, music, speech. The integrated graphics are sharp and bright and fine for a laptop. The only games I play on a laptop are Microsoft solitaire collection and using the tablet feature on these games is a plus. The HP pen is handy and works very nicely with Microsoft office apps. I do wish the HP pen had a capacitive pointer on the one end to use when in tablet mode. I really like the tablet feature and although the screen size is only 13.3, it does not impact the functionality. I was a little concerned that the screen size would be too small. My one complaint is lack of external i/o ports as some apps I use I will need a mouse and/or an hdmi hookup. Also it does get hot when on your lap and charging. I haven’t used it enough to know if the battery charge will last 22 hours as advertised. So far it seems to get good battery life and at 47% power it recharged in just over an hour. The laptop is lightweight and comes with a sleeve and the HP pen. For the price HP should include a thunderbolt connector. Depending on how you want to use the Spectre laptop I think it is a good choice.

Having a nice computer can make a difference!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I must say, this is a phenomenal computer. The screen is incredibly sharp with extremely narrow bezels, allowing this computer to be smaller than my prior Yoga with a 12” screen (but large bezels). Considering the screen, the graphics are incredibly good on this computer. The only gaming that I do is playing Magic Arena, but where the Yoga could run the computer (taking about 1 minute to start, frequently dropping to under 15 screens per second, degrading the image, etc.), this computer runs it like a champ. The screen refresh rarely drops below 20 screens per second, and even then for only a flash before jumping back up. Everything is incredibly smooth, and can even surf the web with the game open, which was almost unthinkable with the Yoga (think 1.5 second delays on every click). Materials: This computer is definitely premium. Everything you touch is metal, including the keyboard. This is a little off-putting at first, as the keys are more slick than any other keyboard that I’ve used, but the key travel feels nice, and you get used to the smoothness of the keys. The touchpad feels very nice, is very responsive, and is about as wide as possible in the machine without having your palm touch it when typing. Even the feet on the bottom of the computer are much larger than usual. Most computers have little round bumpers which are prone to falling off, but they run the full length of the body making it highly unlikely they will come off while holding the computer incredibly stable when on a desk. Audio: This is nothing to write home about, but given the small size of the computer, that isn’t surprising. Think of using earbuds as opposed to over-ear cups. Thinner, tinnier, but not terrible. Connections: This computer actually has 2 USB-C ports, which I’ve never seen on a computer before. Both will charge the computer, so if you have a docking station you can use either plug at your convenience. One is positioned on the side of the computer, while the other comes off at a 45 degree angle from the body of the machine thanks to the angled back corners. The other corner is also where the power button is, which is nice because most computers that I’ve tried have the power button on the side of the computer where you can accidentally hit it and put the computer to sleep just by picking it up. This is a nice, thoughtful design improvement. All in all, I had no idea what difference to expect jumping from a $400 computer to a $1000 computer, but this is quite remarkable. TLDR: the audio is what you’d expect from a thin laptop, but the graphics, multitasking, and materials are all amazing by comparison.

Very efficient HP Spectre 360
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The HP Spectre 360 laptop/tablet is AMAZING! It arrived very well protected and packaged. I love this machine - it's beautiful silver matte cover does not show fingerprints and it feels solidly built. It has the latest 10th Gen Intel Core i7 processor with a 512GB SSD drive.I can stand it up easily tee-pee style or fold the cover over completely to use as a tablet as well as using it in the usual laptop way. There is no switching necessary when changing from laptop to tablet mode, it knows how it is situated and performs accordingly. It is well thought out from the full size chicklet style keyboard (sans numeric keypad) to the lowering of the touch pad to lessen the possibility of touching it while typing. The touchpad is very responsive. The keyboard space is maximized side to side and top to bottom making for a very comfortable typing experience. The screen is almost edge to edge with an extremely thin bezel. The resolution is outstanding. It has 2 USB-C ports, a regular USB port (with a cover) as well as a combo headphone/microphone jack. It also has a micro card slot. The regular USB port is extremely useful as not everyone has moved to the USB-C type,YET. I do have a hub I purchased to have normal USB ports, HDMI with another small laptop. But it's easier when I don't have to pull out another accessory. This comes with a USB-C charging port and a cord with a block. I attached this HP Spectre to a USB-C cord I already had plugged into my surge protector strip to try to charge it, and it worked great. So if you lose your power cord or just prefer not to use it, don't worry! I love the way this HP Spectre 360 is very quick to boot. It has a conveniently located power button at the top left corner. This is unusual, but is very efficient. In the opposite corner (upper right) is one of the 2 USB-C ports. I love this design. This laptop also comes with a laptop sleeve - it's not an expensive item, but it will serve as a place to put the laptop when not in use. It doesn't offer much in the way of protection except that it is covered. An added convenience - the sleeve is open in the corners and with the charging port being in the corner, I am able to charge it with the sleeve on. Well made, seemingly durable, beautiful. I would highly recommend the HP Spectre 360.

beautiful laptop in a small package
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a really nice laptop, and an amazing engineering feat to get so many features in such a small package. As the owner of a previous generation Spectre laptop, I was pleasantly surprised at how HP has retained the display and keyboard size while shrinking the overall footprint, This was done primarily by shrinking the screen bezel to extremely small dimensions, all without the dreaded nasal cam. While not noticeably lighter than the previous model, this version fits in the hand much more easily for carrying, giving it a much smaller feel overall. The excellent keyboard remains intact. Bloatware is at a minimum, with ExpressVPN, McAffee, Office for Windows, and Dropbox the only things that I had to disable. The Bang & Olufsen speakers provide remarkable sound quality, and the screen is simply gorgeous. One nice security feature is a manual kill switch for the camera, so you can say goodbye to the slider; a good thing, as one really wouldn't fit on the extremely thin top bezel. There is a drawback here, though - there are only two USB ports, one USB-A and one USB-C, which doubles as a charging port. The second USB-C port from the previous model would have been appreciated. Of course, time will tell with any computer. My previous model ran failure free, with the only problem being the rubber strips on the bottom fell off and could not be reattached. Overall, this is an excellent laptop. Highly recommended.

Excellent 2-in-1 Laptop
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop is very responsive and works great. I love that I charge it using USB-C and it is very thin and light. The pen works well even though I find I can just use my finger for most things. GARBAGE
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have 2 of these laptops, one purchased at BBY and another one directly from HP. I initially loved this laptop. It's fast, slim, lightweight, and doubles as a tablet, what's not to love, which is why i bought the 2nd one. The first laptop, purchased in late Dec 2017, now has a critical fan failure, and the 2nd one purchased late Dec 2019 has completely died, just 3mos outside of the warranty. After speaking with HP they are not willing to do anything to remedy the issue. I've had 5 HP's (desktops & laptops) over the past 2 decades and never had any issues with the brand, not to mention countless recommendations to friends and family over the years. Both of these units (when they were running properly) get extremely hot even with minimal CPU usage, so my first unit with the fan failure will likely not last much longer. So I'm 0 for 2 on these newest laptops (one less than 2.5yrs and one slightly over 1 yr old), and seeing many others having similar issues, I'll probably be looking at other brands going forward to replace these 2 units. I gotta say that I am extremely disappointed in HP.
