Nice laptop...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nice laptop. Just not enough memory. I had to purchase an additional memory card to add to the gb. Otherwise it's a nice laptop.

My New Goldilocks Laptop (and it has pen input!)
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been on a quest for my perfect laptop... light weight, good balance when open, good display, comfortable keyboard, enough RAM and SSD to do what I need as a developer, designer, and enthusiast, good performance, great battery life... and cheaper than a MacBook Pro or a SurfaceBook. The Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro *almost* did it, but the Yoga Pro keyboard design is just stupid and I could never get used to some of its quirks. After a few days with the Spectre x360, I'm in love. It looks gorgeous, it's peppy, the battery life is great, the keyboard is comfortable, the hinge is solid, and the thing perches on my lap without me worrying it'll tip over. Better yet, I was looking for reviews of this and read that the previous generation had pen input with Synaptics pens as an unadvertised feature. I thought it might be a gag, but Paul Thurott mentioned it and there was a YouTube review video. It seemed legit. So I did some research and found a Dell Active Stylus for about half the price of the HP stylus with reviews that said it worked great with the Spectre. And it does. I drew a couple of pictures, used it for some navigation, tested the handwriting recognition in Microsoft OneNote, and it was mostly good. I wouldn't recommend it to serious artists. The drawing point can lag the pen at times and the pressure sensitivity seemed to have two or three levels at max, and I can't say if that's due to the Dell Stylus or the laptop, but it's good enough for my current needs. It fits an SDHC card nearly flush, so I'm using that to make sure I can carry all my family photos and music collection with me without sacrificing SSD real estate. We'll see how reliable it is. I love that it has both HDMI and display port, because I go to a lot of developer events that pretty much expect you to have a Mac if you're going to present. Downsides... It's a little difficult to open one-handed and during the set-up when I was really working it with a lot of software installation and many browser windows open, the bottom got warmer than I'd like, but not so bad it hurt. I also haven't experienced it getting that hot since. I'm not a gamer, so I haven't tested the Intel 520 graphics, but recent benchmarking articles have said it's more on par with the Intel 5500 rather than a step up, so you probably shouldn't expect amazing 3D performance.

The Best All Around Laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted a new laptop for school as a university student, so I knew I wanted couple things: - Good battery life - Powerful processor - Good durability and construction - Something that can do some light gaming And so I encountered the Spectre X360. This laptop is perfect for all my needs. The construction of this laptop is very Apple-line with its aluminum construction and with a beautiful QHD display. The hinge to swing the laptop into a tablet feels quite strong and the magnets that hold it in place are quite sturdy. The battery lasts me for a long time, about 7 hours with some mixed usage. This Skylake i7 processor with integrated graphics can finally do some lightweight gaming smoothly on this laptop. League of Legends can run at 60+ FPS on very high settings on 1080p, for example. The Bang and Olufsen speakers finally do this laptop justice versus the previous Spectre which would have some static as a result of the DTS software. Touchpad, touchscreen are both very responsive; no issues at all with either. SSD can be upgraded (M.2 form factor) if I ever need more storage in the future. Very pleased with my purchase!

Love this laptop! Truly a flagship laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Gorgeous, fast, excellent craftsmanship and extremely long battery life! The standard screen is stunning. The colors are super vibrant and it is really hard to believe that this standard screen is 1900X1000! The touch pad is super precise. It have to be the most precise touch pad that I had ever used. After giving away my Lenovo Y410p (i7, 512GB SSD and Nvidia 750) to my mom. I was eyeing this laptop for a while. When my total subpar Dell 3000 series convertible laptop died. I ran straight for best buy to pick this baby up. WOW what a difference between that Dell and this HP! I have this laptop for about 3 weeks. Within that 3 weeks, I had installed over 80 GB of programs including all xpacs of World of Warcraft. This machine boots up extremely fast. The wifi is excellent. I downloaded 30GB in around 50 mins. I watched 2 hrs+ of Netflix with the screen on full brightness and the battery only went down by 20%. The keyboard is extremely comfortable with nicely size spaces between keys. Gaming performance is pretty good for an on board graphic gpu. This laptop feels solid in all modes (laptop, tent, tablet, etc). The Bang & Olufsen tuned sound system and its interface is quite good. It sounds like a full size laptop. My only minor complains are: 1) the shiny full aluminum casing gather light smudges a bit easily but they also come off very easily as well. 2) you can not upgrade the memory past 8GB. 3) I wish they come in more color variations - like the iPhones! The black and gold variation only come with the highest trim.

Great Screen, Fast, So Far So Good
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After looking at a lot of cheaper options, I bought the Spectre X360 because it had the best looking screen, good specs, and my prior good experience with an HP desktop PC. Pros - Looks nice, has a quality feel to it. - Boots up fast, programs run quickly - The screen is bright and sharp. - Doesn't seem to get very hot. - Backlit keyboard. - Keyboard itself is satisfying to type on. - Windows 10. Very easy to use, integrates nicely with other Windows products and accounts. Possible Cons - Like other reviewers, I have seen some video driver issues while watching YouTube videos. It never crashes completely, but it pops an error message. - I have seen the WiFi drop out a few times, but my TV will also usually have some trouble at the same time, so I can't attribute it to the laptop just yet. After a month of use - "So far so good". I am able to get my work done quickly, don't have to to strain my eyes to see the screen. I expect this to be a good laptop for me for a long time.

Fast, Top Tier Battery Life, Well-Built
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the 6th gen intel i7 version of this laptop. After previously having the 5th gen i7 version of this laptop I knew its battery life would also be good. Before this I had purchased the new 6th gen i7 samsung notebook 9 spin. It was an amazing laptop as well with absolutely no problems except for battery life.. the battery life was so terrible I might as well have bought a desktop defeating the purpose of buying it as a laptop (which it was fantastic in every other aspect by the way). The next laptop I purchased was the 6th gen i5 surface book. Again, also an amazing and fantastic laptop which I had no complaints about except for the momentary buzzsaw fan. Yes, the fan would sometimes for seconds at a time sound like my neighbor was using their circular saw to cut tiles again while my window was open. And again the battery life was slightly better than the samsung but still below average. I barely hit 3 hours on some pretty lenient web browsing on it and that's with it having 2 batteries, one in the actual screen part and one in the keyboard. So I finally decided to get this laptop again but this time with a 6th gen i7 instead of a 5th gen. So far I have no complaints. The only reason I got rid of the old one was mostly because the fan was used excessively and the sound of it got irritated especially when it was used while the laptop was not hot at all and just started from sleep mode. But so far this new version is more promising with no unnecessary fan use and excellent features. I love it and would buy an upgrade.

Portable, Powerful
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this to replace a Macbook Pro that I returned. Not knocking the Macbook, it was a great machine. I ended up wanting something smaller with a touchscreen. This fit the bill perfectly. Small, light, good performance. This is a sleek laptop. Keyboard feels great. Trackpad works well. Display is great. Touchscreen works very well. Tablet mode is an added bonus for me. I read a lot with it. Battery life is great. It even handles some lighter gaming well. It did have a couple problems with the graphics driver out of the box, but recent updates have taken care of them. I have no cons with this laptop. Overall, good laptop. I would recommend to anyone looking for a new machine.

Great For College
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros: I bought it on sale when it was $899 (retail for $1,149.99) so i got a great steal. Great Battery life. I put about 4 to 5 hours of heavy use at school(on 50% brightness) and the battery drops down to about 50-60%. It feels sturdy from the metal body yet it still feels lightweight. The rotating hinges are very sturdy, yet you will find it easily to rotate the laptop to tablet mode. It powers on very fast. I can basically turn it on and start up AutoCAD in less than 20 seconds. This would usually take about 2 to 3 minutes on my old computer. Cons: The power Button is on the side and small, which confuses me at times. The mouse pad is also oddly bigger than on most laptops. Sometimes I would be using an application, like the Xbox app and suddenly it would close without a warning or explanation.

One of the finest pieces of hardware out there
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Personal situation: I needed a laptop to handle browsing, number crunching, mind-numbing paper-writing, music composition and audio editing. I tried out this and the Broadwell variant with an FHD screen, spending some ~3 months with the laptops. In that time, I used the laptop in every application I could test it in, like displaying music PDFs on a music stand, writing papers and pieces on an airplane, or using it as a lap desk for my food. Pros: -Amazing appearance. Simply gorgeous. Many people comment on it. It simply blows the original Spectre out of the waters because the ash silver is a bold in-your-face move towards the average mac user, and the copper trim cannot be described. -Decent battery life. You can expect to get anywhere from 6-9 hours of use depending on how you use it. If you just use it as a PDF reader or document writer, it'll last you a good 8-9 hours, but if you do heavy browsing or video watching on higher brightness, it'll slim down to the 5-6 hour range. Honest warning to prospective buyers: if getting every ounce of battery life is your main goal, use the FHD screen. It's not as good but lasts ~1.5 hours longer per charge. Also, there isn't a noticeable difference between the Broadwell variant and the Skylake variant in terms of battery life. -Amazing QHD screen. It's much less aggravating than the FHD because the pixels can double up and avoid the blurry effect of a 1.5x scaling on the FHD. This comes at the cost of 1.5 hours of battery life. -Amazing speeds. Well, it does have an M.2 SSD and an i7 Skylake, so I wouldn't have expected anything less. But honest food for thought: the i5 is just as competent, there really isn't a difference. -Much better audio than the broadwell variant. The B&O speakers are significantly better and louder, which is was a huge deciding factor for me since I do so much work with music. B&O's control panel also allows you to use equalization, which is a huge plus. -Extremely light, cool, silent, and compact. Nothing else to be said here. -Great touchpad and keyboard. Since I type upwards of 50,000+ keystrokes on the keyboard on a heavy day, I needed a strong and reliable keyboard. I am also a Cherry MX user, so I have extremely high standards for keyboards. The Spectre's keyboard surprisingly met my high expectations, and I could crank out 90-100 WPM with a little breaking in. -SD card sits flush with the laptop. This means you can buy a cheap 256gb SD card ($75 on a good day) and 'permanently' double the storage. -Great wireless. Some people complain about it, but I have had no issues with it. The ingenious location of the wireless antenna on the top of the laptop has served me very well. -Very sturdy and strong. The full aluminum body gives the impression that this thing could tumble down a flight of stairs unscathed. -Lots of ports. Comes with 3 USB ports (believe me, I need all of them) plus display ports. This is a rare feature in ultrabooks nowadays, and the Spectre simply dominates in this sector. Cons: -No USB C port. I feel like that will bite me in the back in the far future. -Lots of screen glare. However, I remedied this by buying an anti-glare screen protector. I highly recommend doing this! -Screen wobble. Though the hinge is much sturdier than in the Broadwell variant that I tried, it still wobbles a little if you jab the touchscreen too hard. Other thoughts: -While a convertible like the Yoga 900 is geared more towards tablet use, the Spectre is geared more towards laptop use. If you absolutely love tablet functionality, you may have some qualms with the 3.2 lbs weight of this, since it does get tiring to hold up without supporting your arm on something. -My laptop/stand/tent/tablet use is roughly 60/20/10/10. The heavy weight is very prohibitive to tablet use. However, the stand/tent modes are extremely crucial when textbooks and notebooks are hogging all the real estate directly in front of you. Tent mode is superior to stand mode in my opinion since it prevents screen wobble, but I'm honestly too afraid of scratching the edges or accidentally pushing the laptop off the desk.

Really great laptop!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Before I decided to place the order, I was somewhat worried about the battery life, the heat issue, fan noise and trackpad, because they were complained about quite often. But I really liked the appearance ,configuration and price. Luckily, I don't have those issues at all. It's silent, cool, responsive and has a batter life of about 9 hours with light usage. The best laptop I ever had!!!

Sleek Responsive Laptop Convertible
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Spectre offers the best of both worlds (laptop + tablet) encased in a sleek, sexy little number. With its ash silver case appointed with copper edging, backlit keyboard that responds to the slightest touch, and ample screen that begs to be touched...yes that's right, flip the screen back and hold it in your hands and touch the screen for instant response. Hold it, stand it up vertical, horizontal, or open to a laptop it never slows up. The Bang & Olufsen speakers makes sure that you not only hear but are heard...its an ultra-slim, lightweight (3.2 lbs) heavyweight. My battery typically lasts 12 hours between charges, which is more than adequate for me and I have never had such a responsive laptop.

Nice Upgrade
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Did some research about replacing my current MACBook Pro from 2008. The top candidates were the Spectre and the Surface. Once I saw that the Spectre had the aluminum case (Apple nailed that early) and was truly a 2-in-1, I was sold. Industry reviews rated the machine right at the top and I would agree. The ability to change in the middle of a function from tablet to laptop is great. The sensitivity of the screen and the mouse pad (a little large) is also a great feature. As Windows 10 becomes more stable, I really look forward to using this as my only computer with the tablet features. I like the look, the sleeve enclosed. The delivery box was cool as well. HP has started to figure out that a quality delivery includes the packaging. Finally, the functionality. The computer was easy to setup on the network and discovered my other HP products, connected to my mobile phone and external drive to easily migrate necessary documents locally. I was very pleased with the weight and screen clarity. The machine has been a stellar performer and the battery life is excellent. After a full charge, went more than 16 hours (intermittent use) before the "low battery" notice popped up on screen. I look forward to traveling with this as a thinner, more useful and more powerful device.

Beware of Wifi Issue
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this computer as a Christmas present. I must say I am very happy with this computer but I did have a couple days of frustration and came very close to returning the computer to Best Buy. The issue has to do with the Intel Network Adapter. When I completed an update to Windows 10, a couple of days ago, my computer was unable to keep or even see (at times) any wifi connections. In fact, the Network Adapter did not even show as being present in the Network and Sharing Center. I researched this on the Internet (and I am not a Techie) and found this was happening to many other people. I found someone who identified a solution and it did work. You need to first connect your notebook to the internet. You can use a direct connection via an ethernet/usb adapter to your router or you can tether your mobile to your laptop as I did using the usb charging cable (I have a Samsung S6). Once you are connected to the internet, go to Cortana and type in "device manager". At device manager select "network adapters", then select the drivers tab and then select update. Choose the update option that goes out to the web for the latest updates. I believe, in my case it must have gone directly to Intel. I also did the same thing for the bluetooth adapters but it said they had the latest updates. Once the update was completed, which took almost an hour using the phone connection, I rebooted the computer and it has worked fine since. The original guy who offered this workaround on the internet, had spent several hours with Microsoft and HP support to no avail. Hope this helps!
