Q: How long does the battery actually last?
A: Mine lasts almost 8 hours with mixed use and WIFI / Bluetooth always on and screen brightness at 50%. That's run time, not elapsed time, so if I let it go to sleep or turn the screen off it's longer. I've been tempted to go two days between charges just to see how it goes, but not worth it to risk it. Still, I think that speaks volumes. I use it all day off and on and it never kicks into battery saver at 20%. If you want to check your battery performance and estimate on Windows 10 open a command prompt (cmd) and type powercfg /batteryreport. It will put an HTML file on your user directory that will give you the estimate along with a ton of other details.
Q: Does this model come with the sleeve?
A: Mine had a cloth sleeve. Too light duty to be useful. I bought a cheap one with a zipper that works great.
Q: Does the Spectre have cabablities to run Microsoft word?
A: it comes with 1 month trial or you can install one if you have. it is a regular labtop computer so runs anything a windows runs.
A: I'm not a computer expert, but several options would include saving data to the cloud, buying an external disk drive or using an external hard drive. I actually did all three. I saved all the data I wanted on an external hard drive that I use for backing up my computers and then installed the data on my new laptop from the hard drive. That worked well and the external hard drive is also useful as a backup device incase of a computer crash, loss or damage.
A: No it does not, but the screen rotates in a complete 360 degree motion to allow for tablet style use. The only downfall is that it leaves the keyboard and mouse exposed on the back when using it as a tablet. To counteract this the keys and trackpad are automatically disabled when the screen is rotated beyond a certain point to prevent accidental input. Additionally, Windows 10 detects that you are trying to use it as a tablet and it prompts you to move to "tablet mode" which makes everything a little more touch friendly. If you want it to be detachable look at the Spectre x2 or the Microsoft Surface
A: Honestly if your playing games or doing something that requires a lot of processing, it can get very hot, and sadly i would say it gets hot enough to burn you.
A: Good question. Yes, you will be able to replace the SSD on this model. Here is the link to the service manual for this laptop with step-by-step instructions on how to replace the SSD (pg. 32): http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04807803 I hope this helps.
A: To be honest my first one (5th gen core i5, 8gb ram, 256 ssd) went haywire too all within 2days of receiving it in the mail. Maybe that's why it got messed up? Who knows. I returned it and got another one (6th gen core i7, 8gb ram, 256 ssd) and am LOVING IT! I wasn't too pleased I had to pony up an extra $60 for the next better version but I can say I am now happy with my purchase. I'm sure if you go to Best buy they'll exchange it for you. Best of luck.
