best laptop or tab I ever had
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop is best they have in store. ..EVERYTHING works like it should.very fast and screen looks and acts right..I can't say anything bad about it..returned the surface pro 4 and got this, the surface pro 4 is junk.it had the worst battery life ever and microsoft said they know about it and the other things, freezing, etc etc. ...don't buy a surface pro unless it's half that price....this spectre laptop is the best pc in store and worth every penny and you don't feel like you spent to much like I did with other stuff....go get this laptop, you will love it....dearing new laptop updates like all have it worked super hard and got little warm and fan came on,quiet fan ..but after all that it has ran cool since....do the hp updates also.....RUNS LIKE PERFECT!!!!.

B.O.B (Best of BEST)
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This computer is amazing! Superb build quality, HP did not slack at all in this department! There has been some issues with the computer having display driver issues in the beginning (out of the box). The computer would say it was up to date via control panel, upon going into the device manager and manually going through all the devices/drivers and updating them (March 3-4 HP released critical updates) and this fixed ALL ISSUES!!! This computer now runs like a dream! EXTREMELY FAST!! It boots completely up under 9 seconds, this SSD is reads/writes at 600/450 mb/s!!!!! This competes with the MacBook Pro and Microsoft Surface Book ALL DAY IN EVERY CATEGORY!

Great product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Guys, if you are looking for an incredible speed and performance, go for this one. Very light, touch screen is amazing, the picture and the resolution is just WOW! I did not get a chance to test the battery or the fan; otherwise, all is great and almost perfect.

Good, not perfect
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is really a quite nice little pc. At this price point I expected a lot and this largely delivers. Haven't really tested the battery limits but speed when you power up is very good. I have had some situations where it seems to balk while opening a program. On a couple of occasions just entering text it will sometimes lag. Going to have it checked out tomorrow as I didn't expect anything other than smooth performance based on the pc's spec's.

Decent
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far I'm liking this better than the $2500 Surface Book I exchanged it for. Unlike the sBook, you still have all your ports available while in tablet mode. It weighs almost1.5 pounds more as a tablet than the sBook, but the screen is also larger & no chance of losing a detached keyboard. I've had a few hiccups since unboxing. To begin with, the system looked to have been used. This seems to be a Best Buy issue in general, as the sBook had also been logged in when unboxed. I'm not very happy about either of these occurrences! I had to reimage both systems before I could begin using... hours wasted. Also, the display driver crashes... twice so far. I hope the latest bios update I downloaded via the HP support tool will stop this from happening I'm the future. Another thing worth noting is that this screen accumulated fingerprints like crazy. I didn't have that issue on the sBook. Perhaps there is a coating HP could use to prevent this? I'll be looking into screen protectors in the hope of solving this problem. It's embarrassing to do a presentation on this HP when it looks so dirty! My hands are not overly oily & I don't use moisturizers, so there's no excuse. Finally, the USB & HDMI ports go to sleep after 10 seconds of inactivity. This is bad news during a presentation (or just using an external hard drive). I cannot find the setting that controls this, so I'll have to stop by Geek Squad & see if they can help. More time wasted unfortunately...

Fantastic and Quality Laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop a few months ago as I sometimes need to travel for work and I have to say that this is one impressive machine. I can do all of my programming, MySQL, and Adobe workloads just fine on this laptop. It makes fairly quick work of tasks in photoshop. The battery gets me through almost a full work day if I'm not doing anything very intensive. If I'm compiling scripts and using Photoshop, I get about 6 hours out of the battery. On a normal usage basis (browsing the internet and watching YouTube/Netflix) I can get much closer to 8 or 9 hours out of one charge. It can get a bit hot sometimes, but never to the point that I've needed to remove it from my lap or take my hands off of it. It would be an excellent computer for college students and people who find themselves on the go frequently. This laptop is only second to the Razer Blade in overall experience for me. (The Razer Blade has a much higher price tag though.)

Computer #3 is great .. .. ..
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Picked up one of very first units in the store - not even yet on display. After 7 days the screen began to flicker with every tap on the trackpad and Windows 10 began to report the Display Driver crashing and restarting. Exchanged #1 for a replacement which turned out to have an inoperative trackpad. Tried a factory restore, but that did not solve the problem. My local store was out of stock so made a 20 mile trip for #3. So far it is fine and meets all expectation. I was tempted by the Yoga 900, but it feels just plain flimsy compared to the X360. I usually buy a lot over the Internet, but the Customer Service folk at both Best Buy stores have been exceptionally pleasant and helpful.

Great laptop for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm moving from Mac to PC and I have to say this is the best transitional computer. I really like this computer (I've tried a few) for the fairly good processor, memory and SSD configuration. One of the things I really like about this computer is it's only 1920x1080(full HD). The reason being I use Quicken and it doesn't like resolutions greater than full HD. Pros * One of the best (and biggest) Trackpads I've ever used on a laptop besides Mac Trackpads. I usually go right to an external mouse an only use the trackpad only when necessary, but I find myself using the trackpad all the time. * Beautiful screen * Good keyboard with nice feel and backlight * Speedy SSD and processor that can play some lighter games * The ability to fold into tent or tablet mode (though I don't use it much, but I think it would be good for plane travel) * 3 USB connections, coming from MacBook 12 with only 1 USB-C this is a great thing. Cons: * Backlight is not automatic, it's either on or off (and it pretty bright) but on the positive side there is an always lit key (f5) that controls the on/off of the backlight. * This may be a Windows 10 thing, but after updating to Windows 10 anniversary edition the speakers no longer work for sound. I had to re-install the drivers. * Power button is on the side which is fine, but it is too flush with the computer so it's hard to find without looking.

Great Priced, Terrific Computer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am a college student, and I tend to have bad luck when it comes to computers. I have had just about every brand of computer at one point or another. This laptop has proven itself to me over and over again. It has a nice shape and travels nicely. The touchscreen works well and the screen resolution looks great. It is fast and very responsive. I did a lot of research before purchasing another computer and this laptop had by far the highest RAM and SSD storage for the price for all touchscreen computers. It transitions nicely to a tablet when needed. The entire laptop feels very sturdy, and the keyboard and touchpad are crisp and user-friendly. What really compelled me to write a review is when this laptop proved it's durability. I accidentally spilled water all over the entire keyboard of this laptop about a week ago. I dried up what water I could, but there was still water that had seeped in to the laptop. It was almost dripping water when I turned it upside down. That night it was turning on, but wasn't functioning properly. I figured that it had understandably been broken. I left it upside down for the night, and when I went to turn it on in the morning everything worked perfectly, and nothing was different. It still is functioning just as nicely as before I spilled the water on it. I don't understand how this laptop came back from the dead, but I am grateful it did. Absolutely recommend. It's one of the cheapest computers I've bought and it by far the best.

Massive flaw ruins amazing laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First, the HP Spectre gets a lot of things right. Lightweight, great styling, fast (in both boot-up and overall performance), and great battery life (8 hours, easy). However, there's one huge, glaring flaw with it: a horrendous wireless adapter/connection. The 2.4GHz radio seems to have a reliable range of about 30 feet as anything past that is not guaranteed at all even without many obstacles between you and the router. The 5GHz has a longer range but is spotty in its performance; it drops out rather often. After installing/rolling back drivers, checking wireless power settings, resetting my router, and doing a complete system restore nothing improved so I exchanged it for another Spectre only to run into the SAME problems. I have older laptops (that cost significantly less) that have no problems connecting from anywhere in the house on either channel. The HP Spectre, however, struggles unless you're basically in the same room as the router. Either HP is using some of the worst wireless adapters around or the aluminum chassis is interfering because I can't think of anything else it could possibly be. For a $1,000+ laptop this isn't acceptable. It's a shame too since everything else is just about perfect.

Started out OK
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pro: Light and sleek, loved the keyboard Con: Manual says "do not use on your lap" and I know why, the bottom gets hot. OK for a cold winter night but can't imagine a warm day wearing shorts. When I returned it to Best Buy, two employees told me it was a known issue with this model. Problem: Had it 8 days when it would no longer download anything. Took it back to Best Buy where I was told it was and internet connectivity problem. They were not able to get it to connect either, ran a diagnostic test and recommended since I was within the 2 week return policy to return/exchange it. So I returned it for a refund.

Amazing Laptop!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this a few months ago to use while in college and could not be happier with the buy. Amazing resolution makes the screen look crystal clear. Love the touchscreen and the ability to flip the computer into a tablet. This makes great for reading over my notes or watching a video on my down-time. The laptop looks and feels very high-end and performs likewise. Operates with speed and without flaw even with multiple tasks at once. The battery life could be a little longer but is not really an issue. I usually run it at 50% brightness with a couple windows open and it will last me for hours without me worrying about a charge. Overall amazing laptop and am very pleased with the buy. So many features still that I am exploring and finding very convienent.

Outstanding, Balanced and Attractive
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While I have only had this a short time, I am thrilled with this purchase. ** My perspective ** I am a road warrior that travels by plane nearly every week. I use it for standard business programs; Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint. Occasionally, I have produced small videos (3-5 minutes) demonstrating the equipment I sell. And yes, I will admit I have watched Netflix on it a few times. ** Outstanding Specs ** It has the horsepower to accommodate all the programs that I have thrown at it. (Now, I’m not a Gamer, so I can’t speak on it performance in that category of programs). The Intel i7 processor with the 8 gigs of memory allows this machine to preform effortlessly. Along with the 256g SSD the programs are quick to start and I’m typing or presenting in a snap. ** Balanced performance with portability ** The 13.3’ is a fantastic size that allows you to be productive on a plane; even when you’re flying on the smaller commuter jets. For such a thin laptop the keys have a good amount of travel and the layout/key placement feels very normal. Some could argue the arrows keys are very small, but with their limited use, who cares! I love the keyboard! It has all the needed ports without having to tote around adaptors. A little known BONUS, the USB ports and be configured to be powered even when the laptop is off. WHAAAT? Yes, in a pinch you can use it as a power brick and charge your phone. So that brings us to the battery life; the best I have seen in a windows machine. I’m not getting in to the many factors that burn or conserve power, but I can say that I get through several sales presentations and daily email while traveling without having to hunt for a plug in a lobby or airport. While I don’t use the unit as a tablet, I have used it in a table tent configuration when a projector is not available. This is where the touchscreen really comes in handy. ** Attractive looking ** Black, Silver, Gray…..Boring, Boring, and Boring! Although, HP calls this one “Ash Silver”; which makes absolutely no sense to me at all! This unit is a muted chocolate brown with gold accents. In my opinion, it looks elegant. While I know that doesn’t enhance its performance or close more sales for me, I love the look and the fact it’s different than most other laptops out there. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Great idea but poorly executed and not ready.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had this computer for 3 months now….I really want to like it, the design the features are awesome, and I want to give a very positive review but it doesn't deserve one. The laptop is extremely buggy and doesn't even come close to the advertised battery life. Don’t even think about actually using it in table mode because almost nothing works properly there. I will not use tablet mode, even though that was one of the main reasons I wanted this laptop, its touch screen capabilities. It’s very hard for me to know if its windows 10 or the laptop but based on limited complaints from windows 10 users, it must be linked to this laptop. BTW, my computer came with windows 10 native install. I cannot think of one program I use on this computer that doesn’t crash or freeze on a regular basis. It was so frequent that HP actually replaced my first Spectra I received because they couldn’t figure out how to make it better. I must have spent 5 hours on the phone with them troubleshooting. The second one was an improvement but by no means did it resolve the issues. The first one I received also had a dead pixel on the screen right out of the gate. This second machine I have now looks like it has the flatness specification of a dinner plate (meaning the bottom that houses the keyboard is very warped) but I overlooked that because, like I said before, I really wanted to like this laptop.

Great Laptop - One of the best HP's I have owned
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great computer! Nice size for desk top use and small enough for tablet use, it is versatile and very nice. I have read reviews that it got hot and the fan is loud. I have yet hear the fan come on and the computer is running very cool. If you have ever had an HP this on is stealthy in comparison. It ran for 6 hours straight while I backed up from my old computer to it so I would say it got a pretty good work out without the fan coming on. Sound is also great. This is the latest and greatest processor and runs very fast. I am a first time Windows 10 user but found it also works very well on this computer and is easy to get use to. I am extremely pleased with the computer. Plenty of USB ports, HDMI and also the SD card reader and a mini display port. What is not to like, powerful computer, great size, plenty of options.

Worst Laptop purchase (so far)
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am an computer professional and have been purchasing laptop/desktop/tablets for over 25 years. I consider myself an informed consumer, so after reviewing a number of options, i settled on either a Surface Pro 4 or HP - Spectre x360. I went with the HP because it has more bang for the dollar. 1st purchase - display adapter was defective, went online and saw the closest Best Buy to my home had some in stock. Being an IT professional, i realize things happen so i didn't think much of it. When I arrived at store, was told, the online inventory isn't accurate. This is a major beef I have with Best Buy because if you are trying to compete with the online vendors, inventory numbers need to be exact. Store staff was courteous and apologetic and the computer department manager called another Best Buy 4 miles away and arranged for me to pick up another HP. I did that and when i got home the keyboard on the 2nd HP was not working:( Now, I am very frustrated and seriously thinking about going in another direction. I would expect better quality from a $1200 machine. It's after 8:00 PM on Sunday, so Best Buy is closed. The laptop was for my wife's business trip tomorrow, so I will have to give her my laptop. I have a Surface Pro 4 for work and while it's a very good machine, it is overpriced and the lack of USB ports is a major issue for me. Not sure, going to get another HP though. The other two in my final four were a Dell and Samsung. Stay Tuned..........
