Great product. HP's widely publicized collaboration with Microsoft churned out a product worthy of the great reviews. Overall, this is a great laptop, and the pros definitely outweigh the cons. The minor problems are borne out of my personal preferences, and they're not dealbreakers. Pros: - Extremely light for an i7/8GB RAM/26GB SSD machine. - More bang for your buck. $1299 for an i7/8GB RAM/26GB SSD machine. A comparable MacBook Pro will cost you over $1500. - Great for web browsing, streaming video, Microsoft Office, R, matlab, and other tools for data analysis - Milled aluminum casing is beautiful. Looks a little bit like the MacBook Air, but without the glaring Apple logo out in front. I also like how HP purposely branded itself as Hewlett-Packard for the Spectre X360. - 3-in-1 feature is great. Very sturdy hinges that hold the laptop in regular, tent, and tablet mode. When I'm streaming video, I set it in tent mode to help dissipate heat. - Great trackpad. Some people complain about the large design, but it just takes a bit of getting used to. The larger trackpad provides more surface area to manage our windows. Laptops with smaller ones frustrate me because you have to make two separate motions to move windows around. - Plenty of ports (3 USB, full size HDMI, SD card) - Great battery life. I don't carry around my charger because you can usually squeeze out a solid 10 hours. Cons: - A lot of glare on the screen. The screen is sometimes shrouded by the glare, especially if you are in a sunny room. You can turn up the brightness, but it doesn't make too much of a difference. - Power input on the laptop is poorly designed. The gold standard is he MacBook's magnetic power connector. The HP Spectre X360 uses a 90 degree connector which looks a little flimsy. - Backlit keyboard hurts the eyes when used in a well-lit room. The white light on gray keys is a bad combination. HP should have gone with the black keys like the Macs. - Fan Noise is a little louder than what I expected, but it's not a deal breaker. - Power button on the side is a bit annoying. Similarly, the power button flashes when the computer is in sleep mode. It is VERY noticeable when you are in a dark room. - Headphone jack is on the top-right part of the base. Some headphones are shorter, so this might pose a problem. - Runs on Windows 8 (not the computer's fault). What a garbage OS. Can't wait for Windows 10 in July. In summary, this is a well-designed, cost-effective, and powerful computer perfect for a student (especially grad students who live by their laptop). There will be some minor drawbacks, but none should prohibit you from purchasing such a quality product.

Best 2-in-1 made. But aside still just a novelty

Plain and simple: if the price tag doesn't bother you, buy it for its novelty and you will be impressed over all its competition. Otherwise, you're wasting money. Any 2-in-1 is not worth it. Buy a tablet and/or a laptop, but trust me you will never make use of both in one. Plus it loses more than 60% of its resale value after 6 months. Casual buyers and students stay away. This is for designers and digital nomads with bigger budgets.

The HP is very sensitive to the Wifi....must be close to the router for it to work, if it does at all.
