Great product hobbled by no stylus nor service

I bought this laptop to send with my daughter to college. She unpacked it and absolutely loved it. When I ordered the laptop, the agent suggested the jot flip stylus. I bought the stylus. My daughter tried the stylus an it didn't work. I called tech support. The first agent said that if the problem is not with the laptop, she couldn't help me. I asked her to help me figure out if the pen or the laptop was the issue. She said she couldn't. I called back The second agent said there might be a compatibility problem and he had to transfer me. He transferred me to sales. Sales asked why I was transferred. I called back. The third tech support agent said he had no insight into compatibility and transferred me to sales. (I hung up while on hold with sales#. I called again and this agent said there are no styluses on the planet compatible with this laptop. Get this, he suggested I return the laptop and buy an Envy so my stylus would work! I repeated that suggestion back just to be sure I heard it right return an $1100 laptop so a $40 stylus would work. He agreed. Then I asked him what else should I do. He said I was scheduled for a call back tomorrow #apparently, this was scheduled when I dropped off the line waiting for sales). I needed to wait for that call. I said, your here, I'm here. let's figure it out. Nope. I have to wait for a call between 11-12. What is this, the cable company? What gives?

    Great overall lap top

The resolution is great on this lap top for movies and photos. The sound quality is very good as well for movies and music. Speed and storage excellent for a student's or professional's needs. Syncs well with other windows devices. Only drawback: I wish I had customized mine to have a CD-ROM drive built in versus a stand alone that connects to it.

Cheap Glass and Terrible HP support

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Several weeks ago I closed my laptop lid on a small paper clip, and somehow it caused a 5 in crack, rendering the touch screen useless. There are many similar issues online regarding this same issue. Most of the cracks occurred by either people closing it angrily, applying moderate force, people closing it on tiny objects, or people not having the faintest clue how the glass broke. However it is very clear that HP used very weak, cheap glass, and they refuse to take responsibility for it. Under Warranty, HP deemed my laptop damage as "Accidental" and wouldn't cover the cost for repair. They also claimed that "there are no known issues" regarding the glass. I can very easily gather a long list of people who have issues with the glass, but that apparently means nothing to HP. I gave $260 to HP to fix my computer. I told my self before to never buy an HP product again, fool me once HP.

    Freeze time,

If you were going for a way to freeze time this product is awesome, if you were going to keep documents and anything you want to use again this product is much less awesome, As of right now I have had this product for roughly 23 hours in that time I have had it do its freeze up twice making it useless for about 7 of those 23 hour. The first time it froze I left it for about a half hour no change on the screen, so I did a hard restart, then on opening it froze on the HP logo left it that way for 30 minutes roughly did multiple restarts after that no change. After calling tech support did a system restore everything went fine, until the next morning turned on fine, then froze, 30 minutes, system restore now it's been 30 minutes and the HP logo has not budged. I will be returning this shortly. Long ago I stopped buying HP after my PC died one day after the warranty expired, this was my let's give them a second attempt, was not a good experience.

Does not live up to expectations

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Disappointed in the performance of this laptop. For the kind of money, didn't expect it to be so slow. Internet access is slow and clunky. generated video is also slow and it acts as if the processor is being throttled. I can run my 4 year old HP laptop with i5 processor side by side and the older laptop is much faster and without the stop and go graphics performance. Web sites frequently time out on the Spectre but not on the older computers. It frequently drops Outlook attachments because of timing out. Makes it difficult to use for routing business applications. The performance makes it seem like a throwback to 10 years ago.

I bought this 2in1 because of the design and specs. Everything runs fast except for the video. I don't think all these people that gave it 5 stars streamed a 1080p video. It was real choppy and i was disappointed. The 5th gen I7 is suppose to have improved graphics so why is the video lagging. It isn't my internet because my Ipad2 streams 1080p with no problems. I'm going to return it and wait for the xps 13 I7.

    Extremely poor wireless internet connection

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I initially loved everything about this computer. But I had to return it because it would NOT stay connected to any wireless internet. I read several HP forums were others had the same problem - some were able to fix but must could not. In any event, a brand new computer should not need its wireless drivers updated/reinstalled etc. Returned and purchased a Dell with similar specs: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/dell-inspiron-13-3-touch-screen-laptop-intel-core-i7-8gb-memory-256gb-solid-state-drive-silver/8978014.p?id=1219698448375&skuId=8978014

    Completely Disappointed

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I purchased the HP Spectre 13-4003DX X360 after doing a lot of research but now find myself completely disappointed in both the computer and HP. I would give the experience a zero if that was a rating option. To put it simply, the computer failed after 10 days of light usage. While trying to do some work on it, I received an error message that told me the computer needed to restart. The next screen told me that the boot device was not found and asked me to install an operating system. Right under that message was a line telling me to go to an HP website, which was a little difficult with the computer being inoperable. I called the HP technical support and spent 90 minutes talking to 3 different people to get to the conclusion that the machine was not working properly and needed to be serviced. They offered to send me a box in which to send the computer to a service center but could not tell me when I might see the computer in proper working order again. They did tell me that I could have expedited return shipping if I wanted to pay extra for it. I paid for a high quality computer but did not get quality from the computer or the manufacturer. I returned it to Best Buy and will look for another brand that is dependable.

Do not buy this product or the insurance package

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought this product under 2 months ago for my son to take to middle school, bought the 2 year warranty and 2 years of Geek squad service. Since purchase my son has said there was a problem with the screen, but I never saw it until a week ago. It proved to be intermittent. I took it in yesterday and was informed today that there is a hardware issue with the screen, and that the laptop will need to be sent off 2 weeks for repair. I advised the folks that this is not an option, since my boy cannot function as a student without as a laptop for 2 weeks. There was no mention of a loaner unit, or changing it out for a new unit considering it's been an issue since new. The tech came back that they could shut off the touchscreen until it could be sent away as a remedy. I advised them I did not buy a new laptop with insurance not to have it partially functional out the gate. Any notion of HP's standing behind it's product and the value of Best Buy's product insurance must be seriously questioned.

    Not Worth The Money!

I love HP and hate change (A bad combination) so I've had an HP for over the past 10 years. Each time I upgrade (usually every 2 years# and each time I vow to never purchase another HP. Well this time I have to say that I am very disappointed with this computer that this is officially my last HP. It is beautiful and sturdy both as a laptop, and tablet #although as a tablet it is too big). The touchpad is either over sensitive or doesn't work at all. Internet, good luck keeping a connection. And the screen quality is nice when it is brightening and dimming for no reason. I've had this computer for a little over 2 months so I can't return it but if I could believe me I would. I've called HP so many times about this computer and the problems that I had to put their number in my phone as a contact. I had high hopes for this computer and it failed. I use this computer for basic tasks and can't imagine that it will be good for someone that will use it for advanced tasks and activities.

    Bad Quality

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

My first days experience with the device. I loved the idea of having that kind of power in a 13in laptop. The gpu was wonderful. Only problems I've experienced that make me want to get a refund are the sound quality is terrible. The computer gets stuck with using a quad core. I can't close windows, cant open new programs from time to time. The hinges are loose so they will eventually get to the point of not hold up the device. Last is the touchpad, that is the worst touch experience I've ever used. Screws up moving, clicking, scrolling. My computer from 5 years ago that has less cpu speed has better speakers, speed, and touchpad then this product.

Bought this hp today and I am taking it back tomorrow morning. When switching between tablet and laptop mode the device loses track up functionality. The only way to fix it is to restart the laptop. This is unacceptable.

    Great Laptop, fragile screen

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Overall this has been a great laptop. Unfortunately, I discovered my screen had a crack down by the hinge when I opened it up this morning. I had not dropped it, banged it, or anything like that. I actually keep it in the protective sleeve at all times when not in use to protect my $1150 investment. Although the exterior appears to be rugged, the screen cracked on me with no apparent reason. It's a small crack in the corner and although it's not on the actual display, the touchscreen does not function. Laptops are portable and should be built to withstand normal use.

When I saw this I thought it would be perfect to use with my kindergarten students because of the touch screen. Even though the screen was bright, it somehow interfered with the performance of links and video. I could not click on links using the touch screen or touchpad. Video would not play at all. It kept saying the flash player malfunctioned. I tried reinstalling it but the same thing happened. I am returning it in the morning. I suppose I may get a Mac after this experience.l
