I hate to burst anyone's enthusiasm, however, on the first day of owning her, I updated Office via the Office account option, and after the update was completed, the HP shut off, crashed, kernal panicked, and that was it. I tried every conventional way to boot her up, per internet research, and nothing turned the display back on. The power was on, as was the fan, but nothing on the display. I returned it and got the amazingly reliable Yoga 9i 14" (1920 x 1080-Full HD) on sale right now for 1079.99. The Yoga is a tank build and refined from the C940. I am not an HP or Dell fan. They never cease to leave me wondering. Not so with the Yogas and Surfaces.

    Disappointing

Disappointing experience. Copying files from external source to internal SSD slows down considerably after about 64GB. HP's display software constantly overwrote my default color profile without warning, so photos I edited looked wrong on other screens. While average performance was fine, randomly, performance would slow to a crawl, often when I was working on a deadline. I simply can't rely on this machine for my photography work.

Good Value for the $$ spec wise. Not crazy about the styling or build quality and options in the end. Ran hot also. Great screen

I had the previous version for 4 years and truly did the job and this one has been overheating the day i purchased it. There is something either wrong with design of fan or inside. Spent 1-2 hours with HP Support. Need to see if i can replace

When this laptop works it’s 5 star. However, had to return twice for a new one. Third laptop so far is working. No issues returning. Best Buy was easy to work with

I’m responsible for purchasing all technology for my company, and a few years ago I decided to standardize on HP, including the standardization of HP spectre 360’s for laptops (proliant servers, Elitedesk desktops). The first grouping I bought of Spectre’s I bought about 3 or 4 years ago were great and are all still running strong. Starting in January 2020 (pre-covid), every spectre I’ve purchased has had severe issues. This last one we purchased in February 2021 (which this review is being left on) was an absolute nightmare and a huge waste of time. After days spent troubleshooting and reinstalling windows multiple times (a couple times at HP support’s request, we had to call it and return this laptop. Best Buy was GREAT about the return. We’re now moving to Lenovo Thinkpads (which also have much longer warranties) for future purchases.

Like other users have reported quality control is pretty bad. As soon as I opened it I got a bad memory blue screen. Which this could of just been a windows thing but I doubt it. What worries me is even if yours works out of the box, the memory is soldered so if it fails down the road you would be out of luck if you don't get insurance.

Do not update to Windows 11. Bought this in September, and worked fine. Did the upgrade, and just shuts down every couple of minutes, runs unbelievably hot. Went back to Windows 10, went to complete reset, but still works. For an expensive laptop like this, unbelievably disappointed.

    1) Open box. 2) Connect to network. 3) Windows Update 4) HP Driver Update Result: a) System freezes randomly when left alone. Found a fix. b) After a) was fixed, system locks up when left in sleep mode for an extended time Fix for a) is to go into Intel Graphics Command Center -> System (Icon with 4 squares) -> turn off "Panel Self Refresh". I see people posting problems with this going back to 2018. Don't have a fix for b) yet. I have background in computer troubleshooting, I wouldn't expect many people to be able to fix this.

    Flashing screen

The screen flashes for at least 10 seconds at a time every few mins. It was intermittent before and now it is more constant. I tried to use different type c cords and plugs but still the same flashing. I unplug the electrical type c cord and the flashing stops returning. I do this to stop the flashing so I can continue to work without the pauses. Maybe the computer isn’t meant to be plugged in at the same time it is being used?

I had to return the HP - Spectre x360 2-in-1 13.5" Touchscreen Laptop as it was getting hung in every few mins and the only option to fix it was to power reboot it every time. This issue was not letting me do anything on this laptop, while searching for a fix I updated all drivers etc. then tried reaching HP and Best Buy for a fix and after reading through some blogs/reviews I came to know this is a common issue with this laptop. I wanted to keep it but with a major issue of new laptop getting hung every few mins, it cannot be used for anything.

14 month old, lightly used personal computer has 4 keys that are unresponsive out of the blue. Left shift, z, X and c. It was never dropped, kicked or soaked. It’s a $300 repair which might not work. What I know now- this is a common problem and computer techs like those I talked to at UBreakIFix have come to expect issues with HP Spectre laptops. In fact, my shop is ending their agreement with HP due to repeated quality issues. Look to another manufacturer unless you have time and money to burn.

This laptop runs hot, and the fan is 90% of the time on. I just got this laptop today and I’m already having thermal issues. I’m quite disappointed. I’ll try to do a few fixes and see if it’ll get better.

Beautiful computer, but mine blue screened and got stuck in a boot loop within the first hour. I tried re-installing windows, same problem. Wouldn't even open in safe mode. Ended up returning it. Disappointed but I've read a few reviews now that seem to suggest this is not an isolated problem.
