this is just a little bigger then plus smart phones. can be fun or middle school or high school students who want to take a picture and print it out and put on a binder or folder. picture quality is ok for what it is. if you want something small and to print pocket size pictures, this is perfect for that. the downside is that this day and age most just save the pictures to there phone and upload later and print from a higher end printer if needed. I would recommend if you have students who like pictures and who likes to put pictures on there binders.

I'm really loving the new HP - Sprocket Plus Photo Printer. It's just the right size for people on the go, and also very lightweight. The initial setup was very straight forward, but I must warn folks that the instructions aren't very clear on how to load the paper into the printer itself. The instructions that are in the box made it seem like you're supposed to just pop the cover off by lifting it directly up. Well, I downloaded the app and you are supposed to slide the cover upward and then lift. Just a heads up to make sure folks don't break the Sprocket Plus on their first intent. After this is all done, it is very easy to connect the Sprocket Plus to your phone and get to printing those memorable moments on life. Something that really surprised me was the picture quality. The HP - Sprocket Plus Photo Printer prints out some really good quality photos for such a small portable printer. Just make sure that you load the paper the correct way, and make sure you remember to load the paper with the barcode when installing paper into the printer. Another great feature of the Sprocket plus is that each paper comes with a unique barcode that can be scanned to reveal information of the photo. AND, the photo paper is a sticker. My only complaint about this printer is that the paper refills are pretty expensive. A pack of 20 will set you back $12. That's pretty much my only reason for the four star rating. Aside from the paper being expensive, the HP - Sprocket Plus Photo Printer is great. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Fun Little Picture Printer on the GO

Looks like a external hard drive, very simple printer, has only one button which is the power button. You have to download the HP Sprocket Plus App to be able to print the pictures. The printed pictures are small, its 2.3 x 3.4 inches. 10 sheets of "sprocket plus Zink" photo paper, these pictures can be used as stickers, you can peel the back of the picture. If you use up the photo sheets you can purchase more online for $12.99 (20 sheets) its a reasonably price. The color of the pics are a little "cool" colored, they are not too colorful, nothing really stands out in regards to color quality but it still some nice quality. I would recommend adding a vivid filter to enhance the color quality to the printed pictures. The sprocket has an internal battery that needs charging from time to time, varies depending on use, with charging cable included. I like this picture printer because its simple, easy to use, and prints pictures pretty quickly at anytime. The price for additional photo sheets is reasonable as well. I don't like the size of the photo sheets personally, i would get bigger photo sheets so i can use the pictures for wall frames, but it doesn't take away from the picture quality. This is a pretty good printer. The editing software leaves more to be desired. It's hard to adjust the photo ratio or rotate the picture to fit for example landscape or portrait and for that i will remove 1 star, other than that this is a pretty good photo printer. I would purchase a bigger option of this sprocket printer plus.

The HP Sprocket plus is/would be cool for parties, projects, and or any other various "Social" activities. The printer is about the same size as an external hard drive and weights about the same as well. I like this product but feel like it misses the mark for anything other than the aforementioned. For certain settings though, add in the app and photo-shop a silly pair of shades and you walk away with a real tangible souvenir from the event (not just a social media post). My two biggest complaints are print size and quality. The photos do print quickly but are only 2.3 x 3.4 (about the size of a business card {that said one could make glossy card stock}). The pictures print with vivid colors but due to their size, the quality is very low. All in all this is in my opinion, a throwback product that younger people who never had a Polaroid'esque camera should experience.

Not sure who would use this, other than kids/teens

I don't really have any issues with the hardware/software. The app is pretty basic, but it serves its purpose. And, the print quality is fine for something like this. It's not going to blow anybody away, but it's also not a grainy Polaroid. So, it's a quality product if you accept it for what it is. However, I'm not sure who would really want something like this, other than kids or teens to print out, exchange, stick on a binder, stick in a locker, etc. That's the only real market I can imagine that would have a need for this. And, if that truly is the target market, I wonder if it's priced a bit too high. Maybe $99 would have been more appropriate.

    It's Not For Everyone

With today's technology, not many people print photos from their mobile devices anymore. There is no more need to develop that group photo you took at your high school reunion and snail mail everyone a copy. Printing photos at home was great for a while, until the price of ink became exponentially more expensive than gasoline (what do think a gallon of printer ink would cost you?). Now days, when you take that photo with your phone, you can just text it to whomever it in seconds. Boom, now everyone instantly has a copy of the pic. Having said that, this sleek little printer allows you to print out pics from your phone, or mobile device, and do whatever it is you would do with a business card-sized picture. Oh, that's right, it has adhesive backing, so it makes stickers, too!! Maybe you can print out a pic for grandma. No wait, the picture is so tiny, you'll have to run and get her reading glasses so she can see the darn thing. The picture quality is not great. Given the vastly improved camera megapixels in cellular phones these days, the quality of those great pics you've taken are underserved on this device. This is easily the most critical review I've ever written, but the functionality of this device is lost on me; the picture quality isn't great; the pictures are tiny; it has a very high price point...sigh. You know what, it's your money...

Hard to find refills and accessories for the Sprocket Plus. Have only found 10 packs of sticky paper. Not that cost effective for prints vs the sprocket that has 50 packs and non sticky prints readily available. Should have went with the original Sprocket and saved money. Hopefully this will improve.
