First off, these headphones are really great. The sound is beyond excellent. However. I bought these for my Switch as it is advertised for it. When you plug them in directly, sound and mic work fine. But, if you use the extension that comes with it, the mic will not work. The reason is the extension only has 2 rings on it and 3 rings are needed for the mic to work. I will gladly change this to 5 stars if Best Buy or Hyperx will refund me 10 bucks for my Amazon bill and hassle. Ball is in your court. I would highly reccomend these if they could fix this problem.

Poor quality, poor QA processes. Hopefully better customer service because as of right now these are on my no buy list for the family. From day one these headphones created static and feedback for my son using a Nintendo Switch. I thought it must be the extension cable, so I purchased a high quality shielded cable. Yesterday on Christmas day, my son goes to plug in the cable and the plug collapses into the headset, less than 30 days from when he was gifted these on his birthday.

They don't get very loud, the bass is lacking, and the clarity is sub par. Beyond all this, there is a physical problem as well. I am being shocked randomly on the outside of my ear by the headset. I have no idea how or why this is happening, but it hurts.

The microphone piece came defective on the Hype X- Cloud Alpha Wired Stereo Gaming Headset for PC, PS4, XBox One. I bought just before the Covit 19 pandemic closure of all business in Chicago but had problem returning it to Best Buy the one after I bought. Best Buy told me to comeback when everything goes back to normal. Things haven't gotten any better with Covit-19. Finally 7 weeks later I was able to return the headset. Although Best Buy told me they will reimbursed the money to my credit card, I have to see the money in my bank account.

Wanted a wired headset for PC, since I was tired of charging my astro a50, and my playstation platinum headsets. I use this both on my laptop and ps4. It comes with a long detachable headset cable, and a long adaptor cable for those of you who have separate mic ports. I do wish the cable was about 2 feet longer, since I dual screen my laptop, and am not always directly in front of the laptop. The sound is fairly neutral. I do prefer bass heavier headsets, for music/movies, but this is for gaming, so important sounds are not being drowned out by excessive bass. The headset is light and comfortable, not too much pressure in any area, and for now, seems fairly durable. I will see how the vinyl leather lasts. for the record, the fake leather on the ps platinums last about maybe 2 years before peeling. The best thing so far, is the microphone. The foam surround drowns out lots of fan noise and ambient sounds. You do have to put the microphone very close to your mouth to pick up, or you need to dial up the sensitivity (compared to my other headsets) but wow, the mic is super clear. I did some testing in a party chart with my kids, and swapping headsets, and I can honestly say it's borderline streamer mic quality. Volume control wheel feels a little cheap, and probably should be improved on. The mute slider has a click, which helps a lot, but I'm never sure if I'm clicking to mute, or clicking to unmute (I guess you learn over time which direction is which) Does it sound as good as my first gen astros? no, but then again, even current gen a50's don't sound as good.

A Nice Upgrade - So Comfortable

I originally was using a pair of HyperX Cloud Core's to game and listen to music. I ended up needing another headset to use at work, so I decided to take the Core's to work and get a new headset for home. It worked out that Kingston had just released the Alpha's the week before. The Alpha is similar to the other offerings in the Cloud lineup. The headset is very well made. It has an all metal (aluminum) super structure - no plastic to snap. The cord still comes with a woven sleeve, the mic boom is remains sturdy and flexible, and the ear cups are soft and comfortable. With my Core's, I could easily go 4+ hours without ear discomfort or neck strain. With the Alpha's, I know I could do that and more. The Alpha is similar to the CloudX with its inline volume control. This is a nice feature for use while playing music, teleconferencing, or adjusting the volume mid game. The Alpha does not come with a USB sound card like the Cloud I/II's (this can be bought in addition for 30 bucks if you need it). It also doesn't include any extra ear cups - more are available for $10 if you need them. The boom mic is detachable like the other Clouds - a feature I appreciate when I'm just listening to music. The headset comes with a little mesh carrying bag - its nice, but a hard case would be an improvement. Here is where the Alpha sets itself apart from the rest of the Cloud lineup. The Alpha comes with a DETACHABLE 3.5mm cord. No more junked headsets because the cord went bad. This was a huge selling point for me. I always worried about my Core's getting ruined because I abused the cable. Now if the cable starts to short, a replacement is only $10. Another feature for the Alpha's is the weight it has shed in comparison to the rest of the lineup. They are noticeably lighter than my Core's. If look at the frame above the earcups - those stylish cutouts also reduce the weight. Less weight = more comfort. The Alpha's have also introduced the new dual chambered speaker design. I wasn't sure how much they could improve the sound quality in these headsets while maintaining the $100 and under price point. The speakers for the Cloud lineup are already some of the best bang for your buck - not overblown, no tinny sounds, good bass, and clarity. With the dual chamber design the sound quality is just - better. Not overblown, or tinny, great bass, and clarity. What I have noticed is the game sounds appear to be sharper and with greater depth. It's hard to articulate, but it really is an improvement. The headsets plug in with a single 3.5mm 4 pole connector - so they work with phones, XBOX controllers, PS4 - anything that can do mic and speakers over a single connector. It also comes with a 3.5mm splitter for use on a PC. This is a really great headset, and definitely worth the look.

These are great headphones, provided that you ignore the part where they're not actually made for console gaming. On the plus side, the sound quality is actually outstanding. It's a very neutral sound with a bit of a bump in the bass to give it some oomph. Highs are clear without being sharp. They just sound good. Additionally, the comfort is on point. It has excellent clamp force so just the right amount of pressure is on your ears versus the top of your head (to me at least). Plus, the ear cups are replaceable with tons of options online. I'm a fan of the cloth brainwavz and I used them on my HyperX CloudX Flights that I used to own. Transferred them to these and it was perfect in terms of comfort. Build quality is another plus. The metal + plastic feels sturdy and good. You get a carrying bag in the box along with two cables (one for PC and one combo cable). Unfortunately, on Xbox and PlayStation, at least, there is a consistent issue with crosstalk/echo when your volume is up too loud on the headset. I haven't been able to pinpoint the issue. Some folks seem to think it's an issue with the headset itself while others claim that it's just a poorly designed cable. I attempted to get a hold of HyperX to find out more and potentially get a replacement cable, but the rep told me that these aren't built for console use, despite what the product listing says, and to return them to to buy the HyperX CloudX (a notably inferior headset in every conceivable way) instead. If I were a solo gamer, I'd honestly probably keep them. They sound and feel that good. But, since I social game a lot and HyperX wouldn't work with me to fix them, I guess they gotta go back. I'm not happy about it in the slightest. My wife bought a pair and games mostly on PC. She hasn't had any echo issues, so they work great on PC (on Discord at least). Anyway. 5 stars for comfort and sound quality. Truly the best sounding wired headset I've tried in a long time. Minus 2 stars for crosstalk/echo issues on consoles that HyperX hasn't fixed in the 7 years that this headset has been available and refuses to fix. I wanted to keep these so bad.
