Really Decent Tablet for the Money

I won't say this is the finest tablet I have ever used, but for the price, it is a winner. It runs on Android Nougat. There is not a lot of bloatware pre-installed. It does not have a specialized user interface that makes it operate different from other Android tablets. It is reasonably responsive to commands and runs acceptably fast. I have not tried running games that expect a lot of processor or graphic computation, so I can't comment on that, but for general browsing and apps, it is fine. The USB port can be used for file transfer as well as charging. It is capable of screen casting and supports maps with GPS. It is able to configure an optional, added SD card as either external storage (not very usable) or adopt it as an extension of internal storage. There are a few minor negatives I can mention. I have not been able to find a screen protector that is custom fitted for this particular tablet. I wish there were a shatterproof glass screen protector available. The only cases I have found are generic ones that fit a number of tablets by virtue of elastic bands holding corner clamps. Serviceable, but not impressive. It is a little on the heavyweight side, compared to some others. The available documentation, even from the manufacturers' website, is a bit scant, but because it is a pretty generic Android device, a new user could probably use online videos and generic how-to-use-Android books to learn more about how to use it. I note that my local Best Buy does not have one of these on display, which was the case when I bought mine, which is kind of a shame, because this is not a device to be ashamed of. Perhaps they don't have it out because it would make more expensive tablets less attractive in comparison.

    Not too shabby

Right out of the box the device smells strong of LOCA glue that is used to bond the glass to the LCD screen. The smell DOES go away after a couple of hours once out of the box. Physically the tables is very sturdy. Once connected to the detachable keyboard it feels even more sturdy. The connection between tablet and Keyboard is relatively strong, as long as you are not holding it upside down. the 2 posts that hold the tablet are magnetic and so is the strip between the posts, but it is FAR from reliable. its just supposed to help it stay there when closing the top... not when DROPPED!! I dropped mine from waist high (just to see if it would stay together) and it did NOT. but both pieces were still functional and not damaged in any visible way. I LOVE this product for the price. If you are going to play a game or application that has a high demand on the processor... just make sure that you freshly reboot the device before hand, or at LEAST close any other applicatons running in the background. If you do not do this, there will probably be an issue with crashing. this is the ONLY reason that I give the product a 4 star. otherwise stellar for price.

Good tablet using Android 7.0 and it has a GPS

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

PRO: It has a GPS. Works good with google offline maps. CON: It is heavy at about 3 pounds. My biggest problem is that it does not have a Compass or Gyroscope which is odd because my (cheaper) six old tablet has both. It also does not have a light or light level so photos might be dark unless outside. I wish it had a physical home button and it's hard to find the on/off button. In general it's good enough but could be a lot better.

    Windows 10 Laptop & Tablet - Windows 10 Hassles

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This is a 10.1 inch screen Windows 10 laptop. Snap off the keyboard and it becomes a Windows 10 tablet. Most Windows 10 laptops priced under $200 are slow and work best for one app or program at a time. Still, when on sale for under $100 the Insignia is a bargain if you MUST use Windows. The 4 star reviews generally do a good job of listing its strong points and weak points. Amazon Fire tablets and Chromebook laptops are easier to use and provide faster and smoother performance. But, if you are determined to use Windows 10, this is the best low price option.

    Great Budget Tablet

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I am a musician. I have nearly 30 Gigs of music stored on each of my memory cards. The expandable memory is a great feature of this tablet. I use Evernote to plan my music for my church services and rehearsals. I use Google Drive and its various programs from Google Docs, and Google Slides, to prepare my rehearsal plans for my choirs and music staff. This tablet rocks for the price. The screen is large enough for me to see, and the detatchable keyboard makes typing (just like the review I am currently doing) a breeze. Pros: 1. Responsive Interface 2. Lots of Space. 3. Long battery life ( I have gotten through 2 entire church services in one day, from using my Bible Apps, to taking notes, to running click tracks/stems, and have had plenty of battery at the end of the day.) 4. The Keyboard has USB Ports. This makes charging my cellphone effortless while using the tablet. I can basically charge two devices with one charger this way. 5. Watching Live TV and Streaming videos are smooth. I use my CenturyLink TV apps, Netflix, YouTube, and control my Roku TV (ALSO made by Insignia) Cons 1. I have not found a case to accomodate both the Keyboard and the tablet, so I keep it connected when not in use. 2. Playing games may cause it to lag. The processors will freeze if playing a game like Madden for an extended period of time. 3. The on board speakers could be louder. All in All, this tablet helps me stay productive, I have not had any major issues with it, and I recommend it to everyone.

Overall this is a decent product. The hardware all works fine. The design is thoughtful. The reason I ended up returning it was that it kept freezing and locking up. I would have to restart the tablet over and over. I was attempting to utilize apps supplied by my workplace that allowed me to access the corporate website from home. It worked, but would bog down and freeze. Frustrating. I purchased a different tablet, but it didn't work any better. Thinking of repurchasing it.

It's very nice to use. It really makes an interesting laptop type of thing. Kind of needs a wireless Bluetooth speaker in order to be able to hear the sound very good. If you get the speaker, you will probably like it too. The screen resolution is okay, but not many tablets have a really great screen resolution without showing pixels being distorted. This is a great tablet for a tablet though. I've wanted to finally have an Android OS in a Laptop type environment for a long time, and this is the closest I've ever seen to one.

    Device OK, post-sale "support" laughable

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The tablet more or less covers the minimum bases, However, the support is even more atrocious than you would expect for a < $200 tablet. The quick start guide tells you to search by the model number, which would lead you to the product page. Unfortunately, there *isn't* a product page. When I contacted them to get the user guide, they directed me to the 10" no-keyboard tablet user guide, apparently not realizing that this tablet has a LOT of differences from THAT one. The kicker was that my email also asked about whether there would be any post-release security or other updates. I was literally told to "talk to Android." TL;DR: If you think you might need help, and don't have a handy computer/Android geek around, you may want to look elsewhere if you want to be able to talk to anyone who actually knows anything about the product. Most of my friends would find this tablet somewhat limiting as we're mostly computer geeks. For light-duty use, this is good enough, except for the really weak support.

    Emulation Tablet

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Since I've bought the tablet I have only used it for 2 reasons, run it as my main emulation machine (SNES, GBA, PS1, GAMECUBE) and the great thing about android is that you can leave it open for unknown apps and are able to get all these working for you really easily. Now the emulation itself needs barely any memory to run so 1gb of ram works fine for my uses. The second reason is because I'm using it for basic web design and that is self explanatory.

    incredibly slow

got this on a Clearance sale. Let's say this, a tablet should boot up within about a minute, loading apps and desktop interface. This thing hung on the "Insignia" graphic for several minutes before taking its time to load all the shortcuts and apps. The initial setup had already been done many times before I gave up. There is not much obvious bloatware compared to what you would get from a device by a name brand manufacturer. Doesn't matter because this lead brick struggles to even process Youtube videos and basic internet browsers, either one of those will break it. Forget about Netflix! Screen goes black frequently for no reason. I could not find any ways online to tweak this thing into anything close to a basic media/internet browsing machine. Bad hardware and not enough RAM. AVOID.
