Fortunately Best Buy had the adapter and he is able to use it.

Plus the fact that the ends have to be adapted down to 3.5 (the adapters are included) to fit anything that has been produced since the mid 80's is odd and adds a good inch and a half to the length of each end. Again it works well, but is just out dated.
