I was told that I could purchase a universal remote to operate my "Smart TV", since the remote that was in the box was sold prior to my purchase. The universal remote "can not " be used to operate the functions of Netflix, YouTube, Spotify and Internet. You can change the channels but that's it; you can't use it for the Smart TV operations.

I was able to work all of the operations for the recorder/player except for the menu . I tried every button on the universal remote , but could not get to my menu .

Neither item would respond further to the other buttons on the control.

Great replacement for multiple remotes

Fairly simple to program. I programmed mine to a Westinghouse TV (which almost nothing works with so I was pleasantly surprised that this paired with it), a standard definition DirecTv box, a Vizio soundbar, and a Sony 3D bluray player. All the functions from the original remotes work on this Insignia remote, which is a plus. I also really like that you can lock the volume controls to control only the soundbar volume. Thinking about getting another for my dad because he's got 2 remotes he has to use for the tv power/volume and DirecTv box and he gets things mixed up sometimes and gets frustrated so I think this would solve his problems lol (sadly it's not on sale anymore). I went from 4 remotes to 1. Would highly recommend!

My main reason for buying this remote is because of my Vizio soundbar didn't work with my Spectrum remote and there wasn't good info in making that work, I didn't want to buy an expensive universal remote, and at the time I did have an Insignia TV in my room. I bought an LG TV (which didn't include the magic remote) later on. This remote did work with my Vizio sound and worked with my Insignia TV with ease, and when I bought my LG TV it took some time finding the right code to have it where I could pull up everything on the TV without needing to using the remote it came with. Now the cons for me is no backlight on the remote, and when it comes to Hulu no back button that works on this remote so I have to grab the LG remote. So this remote works 99% of the time for me.
