I checked all the other components. Finally my wife said 'maybe it's the cable' but I doubted it. But I got an inexpensive Insignia cable from Best Buy and replaced the old one with it. Now everything is working again and the picture and sound are just as good as with the old expensive cable.

I work from home 4 days out of the week and the laptop screen is too small. It was a bit expensive, in my opinion, but it’s great quality.

I use it for my Xbox One X to get 4k HDR video to my TV. I needed a longer cable but didn't want to take out a loan to purchase one. This is a great budget cable and it works flawlessly. I am getting 4k and HDR video. I recently replaced all of my cables with this one, even though most of my devices are not 4k. It's still one of the least expensive high bandwidth cables even if you don't need 4k. You can use it for standard video too.
