This Bluetooth adapter is at it is, a Bluetooth adapter. Get it plugged into the right slot, and the signal is good. of course, you cant expect to go into another room with it, but i got mine for Near-Computer use. If you want to connect wirelessly, this does the job!

It works as said - simple I did not have to follow directions and it was simple. I thought I would have problems because a lot of Bluetooth items still do not work as promises. Didn't come with software and online link didn't support it anymore. Was not told that the device cuts off your original speakers when operating. Was trying to use to add additional speakers to TV. Makes sense for a phone but not for a sound system. Took a long time to finally find a site with working software. Worked fine after that. Still returned it to store for refund.

Just to note, I got this open-box. The previous owner could have broken it or it quit on them too. Either way, getting new would likely yield different results. Anyway, I plugged it into one of the back USB ports on my pc to use an Xbox controller wirelessly. For a couple days, it worked fine. But then, I noticed that inputs were kind of slow and that when I stopped pressing up on the stick my character kept walking. I plugged into a front port and it was even worse, a game that required no fast reflexes was basically unplayable because of it due to the fact I kept moving even when I’d put the controller down. So, tl;dr: get a different adapter or get this one new, don’t try to save a couple bucks because you may get a faulty one like I did.

Was looking to extend some Bluetooth signal farther away from my PC than the setup I was using. Wasn't looking to spend a fortune either. I plugged this dongle in at the end of an extension cable, and as expected, it worked. No big setup steps or confusion. Basically plug in and go.

I bought this because on my laptop the built in Bluetooth wasn’t working. When I plugged it in my computer recognize the adapter, however it said something about how there was an error. I tried checking for updates and I tried reinstalling the drivers no luck. I tired looking threw the instructions for any trouble shooting, the instructions only tell you how to plug in the device after that you are on your own. I know a decent amount about computer and tried multiple steps trying to solve the issue, I don’t know if the one I had was defective. You can try and see if it works for you but if it doesn’t start working from the moment you plug it in I would just return it and save your time if you aren’t the most tech savvy. I will exchange it for another to see if it was a dud, if that one doesn’t work I will try a different brand adapter.

    Insignia failed on this one

Bluetooth has been around for years now, so bluetooth devices are a dime a dozen nowadays. So, when I buy a bluetooth adapter for simple keyboard and mouse connectivity, I don't expect to pay much, but I do expect it to work well. It is not surprising that the packaging and documentation that comes with it is so small. Reliable, tried and true tech in the modern age, right? Not here. The documentation that came with the product and the documentation on Insignia's website are quite useless. It insists that it is compatible with Windows 10, and that Windows will install drivers automatically (which is what most people expect, right?). However, the device just sits there, with Windows 10 being unable to determine what kind of device it is. And, for some uninformed users, this failure to install will drive them to seek help online, where, in some cases, the "solution" is to download some shady third-party software to install drivers for them (which is totally not ever malware preying on the ignorance of people at all... /sarcasm). So, is that bad on the consumer for not doing their homework, or is bad on Insignia to let consumers troubleshoot Insignia's own faulty equipment? Bottom line, the adapter works just as well as practically any other bluetooth adapter, but it relies on the user to figure out how to find and install safe and legitimate drivers. "It works, so why just 1 star?" some of you may reasonably ask. Am I being a drama queen? I mean, maybe, but the point I'm trying to drive home here is that the Bluetooth 4.0 standard has been around for over a decade at the time of this writing. "It works" is not enough. Of course it works. Practically every Bluetooth device from any big-name company will work. So why did I call it faulty? This device advertises an automatic install of drivers, but when that fails, the company doesn't even offer drivers for its own device to install manually. If the device isn't faulty, then this is false advertising. Insignia makes a great range of affordable and good quality products. This is not one of them, in it's current state. The sad part is that Windows 10 does have a generic bluetooth driver that works wonderfully with this device; it's just that Insignia failed to make sure their device identifies itself as a bluetooth device - so the driver never gets installed unless manually configured. Failing that, the documentation doesn't acknowledge this as a possibility, and relies on the user to troubleshoot and fix the problem with Insignia's hardware. That being said, if you like to troubleshoot and fix the stuff you just bought to be able to use it, then this thing is great!

    First horrible purchase

This was a horrible purchase. The first horrible purchase in Best buy. I thought with all the stars this product had it would at least hold up a Bluetooth connection for more than 2 seconds. Of course that's exaggeration but come on I tried with my Galaxy buds and moving a certain angle makes the sound choppy. I have to not my head from a certain spot. I was playing Dead by Daylight and tried Bluetooth on my keyboard, it stopped working and just held W and if I pressed anything else I wouldn't. The buds were playing a sound every other second making it impossible to play that game. Then I tried Yakuza using my Xbox Controller and as I was running it was stuck running to the left and after a while it disconnected the controller. I was spamming A and it would not pick it up. My controller disconnected at least four time in the span of 20 minutes so it was not an enjoyable experience I just went on to using my keyboard. Please don't buy this. It stinks and barely holds on to a connection. If you do have a connection it will probably lose it in 5 minutes. If you're typing on a keyboard the last key would spam until it regain connection. I forgot to mention that it took 1-5 seconds to receive my typing on my keyboard. Hey! At least it glows blue so that's cool. Even if it's cheap it's not worth the inconsistent and faint connection.
