Works Well
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this to "replace" a motherboard-based bluetooth radio that was functioning intermittently, rather than going through the hassle of replacing the internal board. I put it on the end of a USB extension cord to locate it closer to the connected devices and have had no issues with it whatsoever.

Best for masochists
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This does not come with drivers. The manufacturer's website is Best Buy's website. They don't have any current drivers for this. You will see people complaining about how difficult is it to get Windows 7 drivers... that's when there was any existing driver support at all. There is none for Windows 10. It gets endless bad reviews, and they don't care, or add drivers, or do anything. When I finally found the best driver I could for Win 10 64 it started cutting out before I was 5 feet from the computer. Attached to a USB extension cable string up to dangle from the ceiling in the center of a 10ft room there are still times when it will cut out. I won't let myself replace it, If you love suffering, this is the adapter for you.

Works on Linux
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I didn't really see any reviews on Linux compatibility so I thought I would give this adapter a shot. I can confirm it works great on Linux Mint 17.3 with kernel 3.19.0-32-generic. I have it paired to a set of Bluetooth headphones and everything is working great.

Literally worthless
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing is literally worthless. As others have stated the manual claims that it should self install the drivers but it does not. Furthermore the drivers aren't available for manual install anywhere. It seems it doesn't work for anyone recently if you look at the recent reviews. Best Buy needs to either pull this from their shelves or at the very least make the drivers available for this somewhere.

Old Documentation and No Support
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the third Insignia bluetooth adapter I have purchased from Best Buy and I'm a little upset. The instructions state to plug in the adapter and head to "http://www.broadcom.com/support/bluetooth/update.php". I am greeted by the following message: "Windows drivers for Broadcom Bluetooth devices are no longer posted here. They should be available through Microsoft's Windows Update service. If drivers were not downloaded automatically by Windows Update, use Device Manager to refresh the driver from Windows Update, or contact the device manufacturer." I, as a lot of other PC owners are running Windows 7, which the packaging clearly states is supported, but is clearly not, because the a fore mentioned reply on the site is not true for Windows 7. No problem a while back when I bought my first one, because the driver was on the site. No problem on my Windows 10 computer because it does install with updates. Don't sell a product stating that it works with something that it doesn't and depend on Windows to support YOUR product. Put the drivers on the site. If you do own this and a Windows 7 Computer the person who said the Asus adapter is the same is correct. I suggest going to their site and downloading the drivers for the USB-BT400 which seems to be the same or close enough to work. Shame on Best Buy and Insignia for not having the correct drivers and instructions though.

Not for vr controllers!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this to be able to use the samsung odyssey vr controllers. Using windows 10, up to date, I had nothing but trouble with this adapter. It would work probably 2 out of every 10 times I tried to use it. It would randomly give driver errors, claim to be an unknown device etc, Even after working for a minute. I tried every thing I could find online to fix it but nothing worked, so I replaced it with a Kinivo BTD-400 bluetooth adapter and haven't had a single issue. So if you are considering this item for VR controllers and windows 10, I'd suggest you purchase the Kinivo instead.

Will not work for Windows 7 64-bit in 2018
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Broadcom, the maker of the chip inside, stopped supporting Windows 7. Windows Update did not help. Successful driver installation from 3rd party sources is spotty. It may or may not work for your pc.

Driver support discontinued. Setup is manual
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Worked at first. But once I switched machines, I found out the drivers for this are no longer available. There is a series of work arounds, but even then, it doesn't work 100% of the time. My speakers will connect, but headphones won't. Will not work out of the box anymore. Best Buy should discontinue if the product is out of support

Works well depending on OS
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I couldn’t get this to pair with my BT headphones in Windows 7. I tried searching for drivers but it fought pretty hard. Was plug and play on both W8 and W10 and worked well. If you have W7, maybe check elsewhere.

Had To Manually Install
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Windows 10 Review. I had to manually install the drivers for this device to even get it to work, so I would not recommend unless you know how to do so. Then, it did not even work to connect to my Bluetooth devices. They just never showed up. I am going back tomorrow of the ASUS one that I originally wanted but the guy could not find. Hopefully, that one works. Completely disappointing piece of technology.

Obslolete, buy something else
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Best Buy should pull these from their shelves. No current driver is available for Windows 10 Professional. They will tell you to try some old Windows 7 driver, which will corrupt your network stack and cause system failure. Do yourself a favor and spend $5 more and buy the supported ASUS - USBBT500

Frequent disconnection
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. No issue connecting the unit to the PC. However, signal was disconnected too often to the point of annoying. Buyer may test to see whether it is compatible with your PC.

Total Junk
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's not Plug-n-play No driver provided by Insignia or Broadcom (BT chipset OEM) Drivers for the same chipset from ASUS/HP do not work It can be manually forced to use the "Generic Bluetooth Adapter" driver built into Win10, but you lose a ton of driver options, and the range is less than 1 meter. Even in-range, devices lose their connection frequently. tl;dr don't waste your time

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Do not buy this. SUCKS
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There should be a zero star rating for this junk. Phone Tech Support help was useless. The online User Guide is only in French or Spanish (no English). Would not install the drivers. Basically just sat there, blue light came on for a few seconds, then went off. No messages, no responses of any kind. Couldn't get it to work through Windows Device Manager either. Don't waste your time or money!

Geek Squad is no help
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this product a few days back, specifically so I could hook up my wireless gamepads to my older computers. First I tried it on my old WIndows Vista desktop. I tried to see if Windows could find a driver for it and nothing. This is to be expected. I followed the instructions given, and it told me that Broadcom drivers are in Windows Update. Since Windows couldn't find a driver despite my computer being up to date, that's a star lost. I tried doing a little digging, to find the drivers myself. Found them on a shady website, and the executable file seemed to work promisingly. Except that it couldn't find the adapter, no matter what I tried. That's a star lost. So, I went to the Insignia forums to figure out that an Acer product had the same chip AND driver installations on their website. I tried to download that, and it STILL wouldn't find it. Another star lost. Mind you, this is a fresh install of Windows Vista, and it says right on the package that Vista is supported. I figured that it might've been wrong, so I tried it on my newer Windows 8 laptop, following all the steps, even making sure that the computer was up to date. And yet, it still couldn't find the device. That's another star lost. So far, that's four stars gone, leaving one left. I then decided to go to the Geek Squad tech support, and after a solid twenty minutes of looking for assistance, the best I got was "this item is supposed to be plug n play, bring it to the store to we can look at it". I'd like to say "that's a star lost," but I can only go to one star. This product is definitely NOT worth the hassle, especially for $20.99
