I ran the scan and got 90 channels. However, the picture was not good but it worked better on the Samsung TV circa 2005. The other TV is probably from the 90's. I got video but it was grainy. But you do need an antenna. I wonder if I bought a better antenna with an amplifier. But this product is good. They do recommend that you go to www.antennaweb.org to find out which antenna is best for you based on location.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have an old TV upstairs with a converter box and with limited interference from other houses and a new TV downstairs that did not need a converter box. I was receiving fewer channels downstairs until I attached the Insignia to the new TV and picked up 4 more channels, one of which was ABC, which I could not get W/O the box. I had tried moving the indoor antenna many times to no avail, but the box did the trick. Maybe something else was going on, but at least this worked very nicely.

It even tells me what is on each channel and what is coming up next, something my smart tvs do not do, or at least don't do in a user friendly manner. I would highly recommend this product. I currently use it in my garage with an over the air antenna and an old CRT tv.
