    The first one I got was open box (discount, only one in stock), it didn't work. Brought it back and they happily exchanged it. Second one worked fine with audio cable, have not tried optical, now after about 18 months the TV switches to Internal speakers, even though it's set on external speakers and the external still play so both are on at the same time. You might think that's OK but there is a slight delay effect (like echo) that sounds terrible. I have to manually switch the TV from external, back to internal, than back to external and then it only uses the receiver. Don't know if its the TV or this box but this part seems the likely culprit.

    I purchased this to place a set of speakers near my Hard of hearing Parents chair Once the RCA - needed to "Squeeze" the RCA plug a bit with some pliers to make a solid contact and stop the buzz. once that was done it worked flawlessly
