I know the feeling of not being able to get something to work easy and seamlessly. As an Optical-to-Analog Converter, this product works on one way, it converts Digital Optical signal into Analog RCA signal. It does NOT work the other way around. If you have any doubts, please, give us a call at 877-467-4289 for specific troubleshooting and further orientation on this.
