The side grips really help as far as feeling like you aren't going to accidentally throw your controllers somewhere. You do have to remove them to replace the battery but considering the lifespan of said batteries here, you aren't going to do that very often.

Thankfully I’ve (unwillingly) tested the protection of these grips (by punching my fridge and wall) and nothings happened to them. They’re great for kids and for grown adults like myself haha
