I'm reviewing both the white and black Insignia PLA filaments. The filament, itself, comes basic packaging - well sealed and moisture controlled. The filament is spooled properly, so there's been no worries about snags. The cardboard spool is also pretty sturdy, although I hope there will also be a refill option. The filament is consistent; and honestly, I was pretty surprised and impressed by how well it printed. I saw relatively consistent lines, minimal stringing and practically no zits - and this is out of the box without any tweaking on my 3D printer. The material is consistently solid after cooling. For basic print jobs, particularly functional prints, this filament is quite effective and very much affordable. Compared to some of the more popular brands, this filament will do the job and should also be easier to obtain from your local Best Buy store. Considering the low cost and reliability, I would definitely use this filament for larger jobs that might require a few spools-worth of material.

Insignia is BB’s house brand and they've jumped on the 3D printing train with their own white-label filament that you can get delivered or even pick up in-store at your nearest Best Buy. I received 5 spools in white/black PLA, PLA+, and PETG, and they arrived in excellent condition—vacuum-sealed individually, in a high-quality reusable box, dry and ready to print. I popped two spools into my printer and they were ready to print. The only major negatives compared to other filament are that these Insignia spools are made of cardboard instead of plastic and they do not include an RFID tag that allows automatic filament type and color detection. I'll likely transfer RFID tags from other spools or move the Insignia filament to an empty plastic spool to get this functionality, but they work fine otherwise—you can simply label and configure them manually. In terms of print quality, the prints came out great and had no issues with adhesion, color bleeding, or layer stacking. At nearly half the price of many competing filaments at full price—and even cheaper when on sale—these are a great alternative, especially if you need to pick up filament locally to finish a print and can't wait. I did a little research and a lot of people seem to think this is white-label filament, but regardless of who manufactures it, it works great!

I'm always in the market for black and white filaments. They're staples in my inventory. White filament in particular is useful as it can be used for lithophanes and other lighting fixtures. This PLA+ worked very well on my Kobra X printer. My printer's default PLA+ profile seemed to work just fine with this filament. I had nice bed adhesion, smooth extrusion, and a very clean final print. The roll was well wound, and I didn't experience any issues with tangles or clogs. The filament is a nice, crisp shade of white. I like that they used cardboard spools for these. Cardboard is a much more eco-friendly alternative to the old plastic spools. I shudder to think of how many plastic spools I've discarded over the years. If you have trouble running cardboard spools in your multi-material unit, then there are multiple patterns online for re-usable plastic frames that you can clip to the edge of the spool. I encourage you to give those a try before writing off cardboard spools completely. I'm quite pleased with this filament and will be picking it up again in the future.

Testing the Insignia Black PLA+ was a great opportunity to see if the "plus" formulation actually justifies the five-dollar price premium over their standard line. While this extra margin pushes it slightly out of the ultra-budget tier, it proved to be a highly capable performer on the Bambu Lab P2S and managed to handle daily printing tasks with ease. Running the default Generic PLA profile in Bambu Studio with absolutely zero manual tuning yielded a finished surface quality that was slightly cleaner and more consistent than standard PLA, though the visual improvement is admittedly a subtle one. The real standout feature of this material is its impressive bridging performance; it handles steep overhangs and wide gaps without any supports remarkably well, leaving clean, tight spans with virtually no sagging or drooping on the underside of the print. Additionally, the finished parts exhibit a nice touch of physical flexibility instead of being completely stiff, giving functional models a much sturdier feel in the hand and a higher resistance to shattering under pressure. For anyone needing a tough black filament that masters difficult geometry and behaves significantly better under mechanical stress, the slight upgrade over the standard version is highly noticeable in the final product.

I always wondered why more places did not previously get into 3D printing supplies. I am so excited that I can now purchase filament locally at Best Buy. We have two 3D printers. The one we use most often is a Bambu Labs A1 Combo. That is what I used to print the panda racoon jewlery box in the pictures below. This filament came vaccume sealed with a desicant bag in the center. The filament seemed to be good and dry right out of the package. These are on cardboard spools. I felt the spool was nice and sturdy and loved that it had a window to see how much filament was left on the roll as well as multiple holes in order to tie off the end when not in use. I decided to try both the black and white Insignia PLA+ in one project. In addition to these 2 filiments, we also used a grey filament of a different brand. The jewlery box printed perfectly; my daughter loves it! With my printers preset generic PLA+ settings, both fillaments printed flawlessly. I did not experiance any stringing or any other flaws while printing. The white came out clean and crisp. The black was dark and rich The drawers feel sturdy as PLA+ should. This fillament exibits all the qualities of a quality PLA.

So if you do any amount of 3D printing, you know there are tons of options for filament these days, but also not all are equal. Some are better than others, some are amazing, and some are outright horrible. So far, my experience with the Insignia PLA+ filament has been somewhere above average but below high end average. But I think the price is a HUGE factor in filament and the fact that this Insignia filament is so much cheaper and I can grab it in stores (assuming your local best buy has it in stock), is a huge bump in the pro column. So price is great, availability is great, how about quality? The PLA+ filament from Insignia is great in terms of strength and ability to print. The white in particular is unfortunately not a great color render though. As you can see in the photos, I printed the same item with a more expensive brand’s PLA+ and compared to the insignia, the other white is much more pure white and way less translucent. When held up to the light, the Insignia is almost see through. It’s really not great. I actually could tell even just on the roll. When I first opened it, I thought it looked a little translucent and I had to check the packaging again to make sure it’s not supposed to be a semi transparent filament. So, if you’re making prints that need to have a vibrant white, this isn’t going to be the filament for you. But, if you want to use this in test printing or for prints that are more functional than visual, this will work perfectly fine. Also, this would actually be a great print for tea light figures or something with back lighting you want to have shine through a little bit. Besides the color being poor, the actual strength and quality is quite good. I printed the same prints with two different filaments and tested their flex and scratch wear and they seemed pretty accurate. Again, given the price, I am NOT complaining about a little less quality in the comparison. If I didn’t have them right next to each other, I wouldn’t be able to tell which was stronger. The important part is if you use this for testing, you can get a much closer to final print look than you would with other “discount” filaments that will actually cost more than this. Because I don’t think the white looks very good, I am using this spool for practical use stuff like wire hiding channels (shown in the photos) and hooks and such for my office. The strength is what I expect from PLA+ and seems to be holding up to all the demands. I haven’t even calibrated the filament or dried it and it’s still working great, right out of the box. I assume it will only be better once I dial it in. Overall, I am really happy Insignia is getting in the game and making a quality spool of filament I can buy in person, at a store, for less money than a budget filament. The roll comes neatly packaged in a vacuum sealed bag which is inside a cardboard box. It’s easy to store because it’s the same size and shape of all the other filament boxes I have. The roll is a cardboard roll BUT surprisingly, I did not have any issues when using it with my bambu AMS2. Something I can not say about other brands with cardboard rolls. Usually I have to use special reel covers to help the AMS not error out, but after doing many hours of printing, I had 0 AMS errors. I actually trust cardboard rolls again, how crazy is that? So if you need a reel of filament quickly, you need it cheap, but you need it to be good quality still, the insignia PLA+ has got you covered.

The product printed great and there were no tangles or any other issues. Did not test the strength of the layer adhesion, but seems to be good so far. I plan on getting more of this filament in bulk since i've had issues with tangles from the Bambu Lab black PLA that i've been using. The only downside is the cardboard roll that it comes on so I can't use it in my Bambu Lab P1S AMS without adding bumpers to the outer edges of the spool.

The Insignia™ 1.75mm PLA Filament in pink has been an absolute pleasure to work with from the moment I opened the vacuum-sealed package. Finding a reliable PLA that delivers both consistent extrusion and a genuinely vibrant color can sometimes be a gamble, but this spool hits all the right marks for everyday printing needs. I recently loaded this up to print a few custom projects and figures for my daughter, and the bright, vivid pink finish came out looking fantastic. The color remains completely solid throughout the print without any washed-out or translucent weak spots, which instantly caught my kids' attention as they watched the layers build up. Key Highlights from My Experience: Flawless Adhesion: The first layer went down incredibly smoothly on my heated bed without needing a raft or excessive glue. It stayed firmly in place throughout hours of continuous printing and released easily once cooled. Consistent Diameter: I experienced zero clogging or under-extrusion issues. The 1.75mm diameter seems incredibly uniform, allowing for precise details and smooth outer walls on finished prints. Neatly Wound Spool: The filament is spooled neatly, preventing any snags or tangles mid-print. For anyone who has woken up to a failed print due to a knotted spool, the clean winding on this Insignia PLA provides serious peace of mind. Minimal Stringing: Even on models with multiple retractions and travel moves, the stringing was practically nonexistent after dialing in standard PLA temperature settings. If you are looking for a reliable, bright pink filament for hobbyist prints, toys, or colorful prototypes, this Insignia PLA is a highly dependable choice that delivers premium results without a premium price tag.

I'm always in the market for simple black filaments. Black goes with everything, and it's a staple in my filament inventory. This basic, black PLA performed well. The filament loaded easily, I had no issues with bed adhesion, I had no issues with warping, I had no issues with jamming, and I had no issues with layer separation. The filament extruded quite smoothly. I did experience some issues with stringing. I had cobweb like wisps on my finished piece after using my default PLA settings. I might need to play with the temperature or retraction settings to dial my profile in a little better for this particular filament. All in all, the filament worked just fine though. The finished piece feels a little brittle, but that's just the nature of PLA. PLA is good for decorative pieces, but it's not the best choice for anything structural or otherwise weight-bearing. ABS, ASA, or PETG would be better choices for these applications. The finished piece is quite glossy. This is a bit of a mixed blessing as a glossy finish makes layer lines and other surface imperfections really stand out. You can very clearly see the seams on my print. I probably could have done a better job slicing it to hide these better. This is a good filament. I have no doubt that I'll be using it again.

Overall Impression I have been thoroughly impressed with the Insignia™ 1.75mm Black PLA Filament. Finding a reliable, everyday black PLA that does not break the bank can be a challenge, but this spool delivers consistent, high-quality results. Whether printing functional parts or fine-detailed models, it performs exceptionally well from start to finish. Key Highlights Tangle-Free Spooling: The filament is neatly wound right out of the box, completely eliminating the worry of mid-print snags or jams. Consistent Diameter: The 1.75mm tolerance is spot on, resulting in smooth, even extrusion without any clogging or bubbling issues. Excellent Bed Adhesion: It sticks beautifully to the build plate without the need for excessive adhesives or rafts, and the final print pops off easily once the bed has cooled. Rich Color and Finish: The black is deep, solid, and uniform, giving the finished prints a clean, professional, and slightly glossy look. Performance on the Printer This PLA melts predictably and flows incredibly smoothly through the hotend. During my test prints, there were no stringing, warping, or layer separation issues, even on longer, more complex runs. The dimensional accuracy also ensures that interlocking or mechanical parts fit together exactly as designed. The Verdict If you are looking for a dependable, cost-effective black PLA that you can load up and trust to run flawlessly, the Insignia™ filament is a fantastic choice. It punches well above its price point, making it an absolute staple for any 3D printing setup

I’ve been incredibly impressed with the Insignia 1.75mm PLA filament, especially given its price point. Finding a good, consistent brown filament can be tricky—some end up looking muddy or inconsistent—but this one hits the mark perfectly. Print Quality and Consistency Right out of the vacuum-sealed bag, this filament prints exceptionally well. I ran it through my standard PLA profile (nozzle at 200°C, bed at 60°C) and had zero issues with bed adhesion. The dimensional accuracy feels spot-on; I haven't experienced any clogging, stringing, or inconsistent extrusion throughout my prints. The layers bond beautifully, resulting in smooth, durable final pieces. Color and Finish The brown color is rich and opaque. It’s perfect for printing terrain, tabletop props, tree trunks, or anything where you want an earthy, wood-like aesthetic without the hassle and nozzle-wear of actual wood-fill filament. It has a nice, subtle sheen to it once printed that takes paint well if you decide to post-process your models. Spooling and Usability One of my biggest pet peeves is poorly wound spools that lead to mid-print tangles. The Insignia spool is neatly wound from start to finish, feeding smoothly into the extruder without a hitch. The Verdict Overall, this is a fantastic everyday filament. It delivers reliable, high-quality results at a price that makes it easy to stock up on. Whether you are doing functional prototypes or decorative prints, this brown PLA gets the job done without any headaches.

I've been 3D printing for a few years now, and I'm always game to try a new filament. I was enthused to hear that Best Buy was going to start carrying filaments in their stores, and I was eager to see how they compared to my usual filaments. I tested this filament on my Flashforge Adventurer 5M machine. It's a direct drive, FDM printer. The filament comes on a cardboard spool. It seems to be wound well, and I didn't experience any issues with feeding. My default PLA settings didn't quite work for this filament. My pieces printed okay, but there was definitely some evidence of under-extrusion. Bumping up the temperature by 5 degrees seemed to improve this some. That could just be because it was a white filament though. White filaments are notorious for needing to be printed a little hotter than their multi-color counterparts. Overhangs seemed to work well, and bed adhesion was just fine. The filament is very much a stark white. It definitely leans toward a cool white versus a warm white. Overall, I'm pleased with how this filament worked up. Being able to pick this up at my local Best Buy is going to be very convenient.

I’ve been using this filament for several prints, and the results have been excellent. The filament feeds smoothly, has consistent diameter, and produces clean prints with good layer adhesion. I experienced no clogging or tangling, and the surface finish looks great. It works perfectly for everyday PLA printing. I would definitely recommend it.

So glad Best Buy is expanding their filament selection! Works well, I do wish the instructions gave more direction on how to use with the Bambu printers especially because this is my first time owning a 3d printer. They are talking to experts only who know how to use the non-brand versions.
