    Reliable PLA with Excellent Value, Available Local

    We've run both the white and black Insignia PLA through our Ender 3 Pro after years of relying on Hatchbox filament, and the results have been consistently impressive. The Black filament prints cleanly with solid layer bonding, dependable first layers, and a smooth finish right out of the printer. The cardboard spool has also worked flawlessly and is a welcome environmentally friendly upgrade over traditional plastic spools. Some reviews do note this as a negative but in our experience have not seen any new challenges when printing when factoring in the spool material. With standard PLA selling around $13 per spool and PLA+ only a few dollars more, it's nice to have options depending on the project. For decorative prints, household organizers, prototypes, and general hobby projects, the standard PLA has performed every bit as well as our Hatchbox rolls. PLA+ is still worth considering for parts that need a little more toughness or impact resistance, but for most everyday printing this standard PLA delivers excellent results while giving us a dependable filament we can buy locally instead of ordering online. There has been the usual fine tuning when changing PLA spools as they all seems to react differently but these are minor and easy to overcome. This PLA is equally as easy to create all sorts of fun 3d printed items. I am happy I tried this brand as a local alternative to purchasing on line.

    Best Buy is selling their own Insignia branded 3d Printer Filaments now? Cool, it's nice to know there are physical locations I can go to pick up a few spools when needed rather than always have to order online. Eagle eyed among you may recognize the cardboard spools that these new filaments come on. That's because the manufacturer behind BestBuy's Insignia branded 3D printer filaments is none other than Polymaker, a well-known filament producer, so there's a somewhat known element behind this already. Following the description and cross referencing, I suspect it may be a custom blend for BestBuy but seems like Insignia PLA may be similar enough to "Polysonic", as Playmaker's polysonic advertises up to 300mm/s print speeds, while insignia says up to 350mm/s. While the PLA+ I think is polymaker PLA Pro, and the Insignia PETG is likely just Polymakers standard PETG. This part is all speculation on my part beyond the fact that I know for certain these are produced by Polymaker, beyond that if they are the same plastic formulations as the above-mentioned comparisons I cannot be sure, but those seem to be the closest matches to my eye. Now onto the filament itself as I have it, it's packed like most brands that come spooled like this, individually boxed and vacuum sealed with a desiccant packet to stave off moisture. As anyone who has been printing a while can tell you, moisture and humidity are the enemy. I was able to get away with unwrapping and immediately using the filament I was sent, and suspect that you could probably getting away with that in most areas, but for best results get a filament dryer and dry boxes to store your filament. If I was making parts for sale, I'd run each roll through my dryer before use. But most new hobbyists will likely not take these extra steps. My printer is a Bambu Labs A1 Mini, so my review is going to be from printing through this printer specifically. And not through a range of printers, as I only have the one printer to play with. Now while the vacuum sealing of the spools does cause the outer rim of the cardboard spool to get deformed a bit, this doesn't really cause me any issues as my spools hand through their center hole as opposed to running on rollers on the outer rim. If you use spools on rollers or through something like the bambu labs AMS pro/AMS2 consider printing those rings that snap onto the outer edge of the spool to help it feed. You can find the settings for each filament type Insignia has right on the back of the box. Depending on the speeds your printing at, you may need to dial in specific temps up or down within it's range for the best outcome based on the temp in the room you print in, and weather you have an open air printer like the A1 mini, or an enclosed printer. I'm no expert, for me, I'm just happy if printer go brrr and doesn't catch fire or waste my plastic by failing to adhere to the print bed or itself. For the most part the filament I have been using is Bambu Labs own selection, as I bought a lot when originally bought the printer. So comparing to the filament I have been using I am getting just as good of results out of Insignia's material as I have been getting from Bambu Labs own filament. Which is great for me, as it's hard to beat the pricing Best Buy has on the basic PETGs and PLAs and not needing to buy in bulk to get good pricing is great. I'm not sure what the deal behind it all is that lets BestBuy really give us such a great deal, but it really takes the edge off of buying materials for someone just starting out or doesn't print enough to justify bulk ordering to get these kinds of prices. Benchies aside, No issues printing with this right out of the box, Printed a somewhat large (for the printbed of my A1 mini at least) storage box, was a bit of a pain to get off the print bed, but I think that was more the fact that I just cleaned the bed, and the large surface area in contact with the bed, paired with my own impatience not letting the part cool completely before trying to take it off the print bed. When printing the lid I didn't have the issue, but I also let it set for a few minutes before trying to remove it. All kind of moot though, I broke it when assembling the hinge because the holes for the m2 machine screws were a bit too small, and I didn't drill them out any to better the fitment, and it split the hinges at the layerlines, mistakes happen, but not the fault of the filiment. My own fault for trying to rush. Big recommend from me. As long as the colors you need/want are available in the material you need/want to use, I can't see a specific reason to pay more for a different brand. 3D printers aren't like desktop paper/ink printers, they aren't engineering it to force you to buy your printer filament from a single source, and the ONE 3d printer that did do that that I am aware of wasn't around for long. I'm going to recommend my colleges Makerspace Club consider this when it's time to replenish inventory.

    I have a Bambu Lab P1S and I've picked up filaments from a few different companies over the years. I've been seeing Best Buy take on more 3D printing products and while I've seen Bambu Lab filaments on the site, I recently saw and was curious about their Insignia branded filaments. I tend to buy my filaments when I can get a good deal, I'll buy them up to 16 spools at a time in order to get pricing down towards $11/kg instead of the $20 I've paid for single spools. So to see some Best Buy spools running closer to the $11/kg target without having to buy in bulk quantities makes me very happy. Each Insignia spool comes in a cardboard box. Each spool is vacuum sealed with a desiccant packet. The filament comes on a cardboard spool. This spool is specifically PLA + White. The difference between PLA and PLA + is the printing speed which is about 6% slower with PLA + compared to standard PLA. Parts are slightly more durable with PLA +. The finish on the PLA + is standard, it has a bit of a matte finish, it's not specifically labeled matte, it's just the standard PLA + finish. The winding is neat and tight, with the end of the filament woven through a couple holes in the rim of the cardboard spool. The spool itself seems to match up with my existing plastic spool diameter. I did have some earlier Sunlu spools that needed additional rim diameter to work nicely with my AMS. I will note one of the smallest quirks. The winding direction on the spool is inconsistent. On one spool, it could be wound clockwise, the other counter-clockwise. The only way I could tell is because the Insignia brand sticker is only applied on one side of the spool. If they placed the Insignia brand sticker on both sides, I would not be able to tell. On the back of the box, Insignia has a decent chart that describes the recommended print settings of their various filament types. This is very handy for someone like me where I forget the print speed difference between things like PLA vs PLA +. If I were printing with my old Ender 3 Pro, I would be heavily invested in this chart. I would also print out a temperature tower and determine multiple printing factors. However, I wanted to see how this filament reacts to standard presets with my Bambu Lab printer. After I loaded the filament into the AMS, I selected the filament type as Generic PLA and dove straight into my first model with this PLA + White. I also got a couple spools of Insignia PLA and for those spools, I have them assigned as Generic PLA High Speed in Bambu Studio. To my delight the first model with the standard presets for Generic PLA, turned out beautifully. There was no stringing, no overhang/bridging issues, layer lines were super consistent, there was no filament feed problems which gives me confidence that the 1.75mm diameter stayed true. I printed about 10% of the spool on my first model with this spool and I had no issues with tangles. I also noted there is very little to no odor while printing. I'm very happy with this Insignia PLA + White filament. It yielded a very good print that was consistent and printed with ease. Since the price is nearing my bulk spool price, I can see myself getting more Insignia filament to replace a single color that I’m running low on in the future.

    Absolute garbage. I bought 9 colors, every print fails, every color. Does not stick to the plate and ends up a stringy mess inside my printer. All other brands working fine.

    I've been extremely impressed with this Insignia 1.75mm White PLA Filament. From the first print, it delivered consistent extrusion, smooth layer lines, and excellent overall print quality. The filament is wound neatly on the spool, feeds smoothly, and has been completely hassle-free with no tangles or clogging issues. It is designed to be tangle-free, easy to print, and compatible with standard 1.75mm FDM printers. The white color is bright, clean, and very consistent from start to finish, making it perfect for prototypes, decorative prints, and functional parts. Print surfaces come out looking smooth with sharp details, and I’ve had great results using standard PLA settings. Other customers have also praised the material quality and color consistency, which mirrors my experience. I also appreciate the eco-friendly cardboard spool and the clear labeling that makes setup easy. For the price, this filament offers excellent value and performance that rivals more expensive brands.     Tougher Prints Without Changing My Settings

    After having great success with Insignia's standard PLA, I picked up the PLA+ black to compare it against the Hatchbox filament we've been using for years on our Ender 3 Pro. The transition was seamless. Print quality remained excellent with smooth extrusion, consistent layer adhesion, and clean surface finishes without having to make major adjustments to our normal print profile. The cardboard spool also fed perfectly and is a welcome improvement over traditional plastic spools from an environmental standpoint. Note, some reviews call this out as a negative. I have not experienced any challenges up to this point between plastic or cardboard spool material. PLA+ costs only a few dollars more than the standard PLA, making it an easy upgrade when a project needs additional durability. While standard PLA is still my choice for prototypes and decorative prints, PLA+ provides a little more strength and impact resistance for functional parts, brackets, and components that will see regular use. Having a dependable PLA+ option available locally at Best Buy instead of waiting the day or two on Amazon has already proven to be a huge convenience, and the performance has been right on par with the Hatchbox filament we've trusted for years. We will keep a few rolls around of Insignia PLA going forward

    This Insignia brand filament is easy to use and prints very well using the preloaded Bambu temperature settings without any chabges required. This is designed to fit right into the Bambu echo system without the need to change much the environmental variables. All of the Insignia branded spools come on a cardboard spool, but can be easily transiotined if needwd to a reusable plastic spool. Based on the price range for this filament and hiw well the prints keep coming out, this works as your go-to for everyday and initial model testing. It falls inline at the 1.75mm filament size, making it universally usable across most 3D Printers while still having same quality prints. In all of the prints the Insignia filament stood up just as well as the Bambu filament in adhesion testing, and detailed prints like your dragons in different sizes, the various fidget models available to print from Maler World. It did stick to the print bed and was easy to remove at the end of printing depending on the area it took up with no additional adhesion support like others may recommend in their printing projects.

    Do not mix pla & petg filaments. I found out the hatd way that they sometimes work, but most times they just don't work together

    I really like the soft black color of this filament. Using it with a Bambu A1 and have had no issues at all. I think a combination of the color and texture do a great job of minimizing layer lines. The packaging is nice, wound securely and easily unwinds without any tangles. The packaging is also recyclable, which is great. Print speeds were great and layer adhesion is solid. Flow was consistent as well. Printing a sample with this and my usually filament, the Insignia is a better quality with smoother edges. It also feels like it is less fragile than other PLAs, creating a simple tool this took much more force to break than my usual PLA. It is a solid filament that prints easily and has some more strength to it. Having more strength also didn’t result in a noticeable difference in burn off odor. Easy to recommend that you give this as try as your go to filament. I’m a beginner 3d printer enthusiast and this was so easy to use. The value, performance, and strength are worth it for me.

I was able to get away with unwrapping and immediately using the filament I was sent, and suspect that you could probably getting away with that in most areas, but for best results get a filament dryer and dry boxes to store your filament. If I was making parts for sale, I'd run each roll through my dryer before use. But most new hobbyists will likely not take these extra steps. My printer is a Bambu Labs A1 Mini, so my review is going to be from printing through this printer specifically. And not through a range of printers, as I only have the one printer to play with. Now while the vacuum sealing of the spools does cause the outer rim of the cardboard spool to get deformed a bit, this doesn't really cause me any issues as my spools hand through their center hole as opposed to running on rollers on the outer rim. If you use spools on rollers or through something like the bambu labs AMS pro/AMS2 consider printing those rings that snap onto the outer edge of the spool to help it feed. So far I've run a few simple functional prints and have had zero issues after punching in the print settings in bambu studio. You can find the settings for each filament type Insignia has right on the back of the box. Depending on the speeds your printing at, you may need to dial in specific temps up or down within it's range for the best outcome based on the temp in the room you print in, and weather you have an open air printer like the A1 mini, or an enclosed printer. I'm no expert, for me, I'm just happy if printer go brrr and doesn't catch fire or waste my plastic by failing to adhere to the print bed or itself. For the most part the filament I have been using is Bambu Labs own selection, as I bought a lot when originally bought the printer. So comparing to the filament I have been using I am getting just as good of results out of Insignia's material as I have been getting from Bambu Labs own filament. Which is great for me, as it's hard to beat the pricing Best Buy has on the basic PETGs and PLAs and not needing to buy in bulk to get good pricing is great. I'm not sure what the deal behind it all is that lets BestBuy really give us such a great deal, but it really takes the edge off of buying materials for someone just starting out or doesn't print enough to justify bulk ordering to get these kinds of prices. For what I've been printing, beyond a few benchies to see how it all prints. I've printed some outlet covers for a few outlets in the house that neded replacements. And new dimmer switch slider caps. Because there were a few that were missing in the apartmetn. simple functional things mostly because one of 3D printings biggets boons is being able to solve simple household problems without running to the hardware store every time. Big recommend from me. As long as the colors you need/want are available in the material you need/want to use, I can't see a specific reason to pay more for a different brand. 3D printers aren't like desktop paper/ink printers, they aren't engineering it to force you to buy your printer filament from a single source, and the ONE 3d printer that did do that that I am aware of wasn't around for long. I'm going to recommend my colleges Makerspace Club consider this when it's time to replenish inventory.

    I have a Bambu Lab P1S and I've picked up filaments from a few different companies over the years. I've been seeing Best Buy take on more 3D printing products and while I've seen Bambu Lab filaments on the site, I recently saw and was curious about their Insignia branded filaments. I tend to buy my filaments when I can get a good deal, I'll buy them up to 16 spools at a time in order to get pricing down towards $11/kg instead of the $20 I've paid for single spools. So to see some Best Buy spools running closer to the $11/kg target without having to buy in bulk quantities makes me very happy. Each Insignia spool comes in a cardboard box. Each spool is vacuum sealed with a desiccant packet. The filament comes on a cardboard spool. This spool is specifically PLA + Black. The difference between PLA and PLA + is the printing speed which is about 6% slower with PLA + compared to standard PLA. Parts are slightly more durable with PLA +. The finish on the PLA + is standard, it has a bit of a matte finish, it's not specifically labeled matte, it's just the standard PLA + finish. The winding is neat and tight, with the end of the filament woven through a couple holes in the rim of the cardboard spool. The spool itself seems to match up with my existing plastic spool diameter. I did have some earlier Sunlu spools that needed additional rim diameter to work nicely with my AMS. I will note one of the smallest quirks. The winding direction on the spool is inconsistent. On one spool, it could be wound clockwise, the other counter-clockwise. The only way I could tell is because the Insignia brand sticker is only applied on one side of the spool. If they placed the Insignia brand sticker on both sides, I would not be able to tell. On the back of the box, Insignia has a decent chart that describes the recommended print settings of their various filament types. This is very handy for someone like me where I forget the print speed difference between things like PLA vs PLA +. If I were printing with my old Ender 3 Pro, I would be heavily invested in this chart. I would also print out a temperature tower and determine multiple printing factors. However, I wanted to see how this filament reacts to standard presets with my Bambu Lab printer. After I loaded the filament into the AMS, I selected the filament type as Generic PLA and dove straight into my first model with this PLA + Black. I also got a couple spools of Insignia PLA and for those spools, I have them assigned as Generic PLA High Speed in Bambu Studio. To my delight the first model with the standard presets for Generic PLA, turned out beautifully. There was no stringing, no overhang/bridging issues, layer lines were super consistent, there was no filament feed problems which gives me confidence that the 1.75mm diameter stayed true. I printed about 10% of the spool on my first model with this spool and I had no issues with tangles. I also noted there is very little to no odor while printing. I'm very happy with this Insignia PLA + Black filament. It yielded a very good print that was consistent and printed with ease. Since the price is nearing my bulk spool price, I can see myself getting more Insignia filament to replace a single color that I’m running low on in the future.

    First off I usually only use materials that come from OEM. However, when this was online and I needed some fast, I grabbed it. I was surprised by the quality and ease of use this has. 1. nice tight wind on roll 2. thick cardboard spool gives it a nice solid, smooth feed when I used it 3. no issues with feeding in to AMS on my machine 4. consistent thickness and I did not see any bubbles when using Things to consider 1. cardboard spools suck up the moisture and will get out of "round" as they are being used. 2. I had to dry the filament when I got it. I do this anyway, but this package was not sealed all the way. 3. had to adjust temp on print profile as this does not have a section for this brand. So make sure you test it out and adjust to your needs 4. retraction will need to be changed as this will slightly creep with temp at normal settings on printer. So far, I have used it and will keep this in mind for quick print needs. I might keep some on hand for when I run out of a color later. Get it and enoy your printing.

    Insignia’s PLA+ like their other filaments is produced by Polymaker, not sure if it’s the same formulation of PLA+ or pro, that polymaker sells themselves directly or not, but if you need to print something and want to overall ease of printing in PLA, but need the additional strength, this is a good option. Print setting like with all their filaments are right on the box, and each spool comes vacuum sealed with a desiccant pack to fight moisture. I was able to print right from the package with no moisture related issues, but I recommend storing in an airtight container with desiccant when not in use or buying making a drybox specifically. Moisture is the enemy. In my A1 mini I didn’t have any issues printing with this, It fed well without and problems, I’m not exactly a guru with 3d printing so as long as the printer goes brrr and doesn’t burn down the house when making the latest doodad I decided to print, I’m happy. At the end of the day it’s not going to change your life, this isn’t a miracle new filament, but it’s a good price and works just as well as the plastic I’ve already got that’s priced 30% or more above it. Beyond buying in large bulk orders you’re not really going to get a per spool deal better than this, so great for newcomers dipping their toes in as well as those who print a lot.

    I'm not surprised that Insignia has jumped on the filament bandwagon. It seems like any tech and craft store now carries filament, either their own brand or another commercially made variety. 3d printing is a prime market right now and users go through spools and spools of the stuff. And for better or worse, filament in any chemical type (asa, abs, pla, petg, pla+, etc) should all be the same performance as long as colors stay accurate in the spool and between spools. And that was my experience here with Insignia. The PLA had a decent moisture content out of it's packaging (25%), but I'm an old school printer and almost always throw filament in a dryer to bring it down to 20% or under. Once there, I put it in my printer and it performed exactly as expected. Good adhesion and color accuracy with no see through issues like you get with some cheaper white filament. I will say that I don't like using cardboard spools in any printer where the spools roll instead of are hung, but this spool is the standard 200mm and there are plenty of spool guards that users can print to protect their printer. Other than that, if you need some spools to finish a job, you'll like be able to use this.
