Affordable filament you can trust!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you do any amount of 3D printing, you know there are tons of options for filament these days, but also not all are equal. Some are better than others, some are amazing, and some are outright horrible. So far, my experience with the Insignia PLA filament has been somewhere around higher than average but below amazing. But I think the price is a huge factor in filament and the fact that this Insignia filament is so much cheaper and you can grab it in stores (assuming your local best buy has it in stock), is a huge bump in the pro column. So price is great, availability is great, how about quality? The Insignia PLA Black filament is great in terms of price and print quality. The black color in particular is a nice deep, not too shiny black. It looks similar to other brands black and has an even color throughout the prints. I think the color is good enough that you could easily use this for visual prints or practical. With proper print settings, you should have no visual issues with the black PLA. You could easily use this in test printing or for prints that are more functional than visual but it would have no issues in something you also want to show off. For example, the photo I attached is a carrying case for an electronic device I have and as soon as I pulled it off the printer I literally said, “Oh wow. This actually looks really good.” Shamefully, I assumed it wouldn’t be all that great of quality but I was very wrong. The strength is quite good as well. My print is meant to protect an electronic device in transit and I could have used PETG or even PLA+ but I wanted to test the print and decided to use a basic PLA. Now I’m sitting here realizing it’s perfectly fine and I don’t need to print it with anything stronger. Of course, the use and situation will determine if that’s possible, but for now, I’m going to say in the proper climate, this PLA is perfectly strong enough.. Again, given the price, I would say this has exceeded expectations. If you use this for testing, you can get a much closer to final print look than you would with other “discount” filaments that will actually cost more than this. But because it’s much cheaper, you can use this filament to test print and work out your print plan without feeling like you lost a ton of money. I haven’t even calibrated the filament or dried it and it’s still working great, right out of the box. I assume it will only be better once I dial it in. Overall, I am really happy Insignia is getting in the game and making a quality spool of filament I can buy in person, at a store, for less money than a “budget” filament. The roll comes neatly packaged in a vacuum sealed bag which is inside a cardboard box. It’s easy to store because it’s the same size and shape of all the other filament boxes I have. The spool is on a cardboard roll BUT surprisingly, I did not have any issues when using it with my bambu AMS2. Something I can not say about other brands with cardboard rolls. Usually I have to use special reel covers to help the AMS not error out, but after doing many hours of printing, I had 0 AMS errors. I actually trust cardboard rolls again, how crazy is that? And I should note, I have tried multiple spools of Insignia Filament with the same results. NO issues with the AMS. It’s just been a joy to print with. So if you need a reel of filament quickly, you need it cheap, but you need it to be good quality still, the insignia PLA has got you covered.

Tough, Reliable, and Perfect for Functional Prints
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the Insignia PLA+ Black filament specifically for printing functional parts, and it has quickly become one of my favorite materials. The deep black color gives prints a clean, professional look, while the enhanced strength of PLA+ makes finished parts feel noticeably more durable than those printed with standard PLA. Insignia's PLA+ is designed with improved impact resistance and stronger layer adhesion while maintaining the ease of printing associated with regular PLA. What impressed me most was how easy it was to use. I didn't have to make major adjustments to my printer settings, and the filament produced smooth layers, crisp details, and consistent results throughout multiple prints. It's also designed for high-speed printing, low odor, and low warping, making it a great choice for both beginners and experienced makers. Compared to standard PLA, PLA+ offers several advantages. Parts are tougher, less brittle, and better able to withstand everyday handling. The stronger layer bonding also means printed components feel more solid and dependable, especially for brackets, tool holders, and other functional projects. Pros: - Rich, consistent black color - Stronger and less brittle than standard PLA - Excellent layer adhesion - Smooth finish with sharp details - Easy to print with minimal tuning - Low warping and low odor Cons: - Costs a little more than standard PLA - Premium performance may be unnecessary for simple display models - Limited long-term color options compared to some specialty filament brands Overall, this is an excellent PLA+ filament that delivers the perfect balance of printability, strength, and appearance. If you like the simplicity of PLA but want tougher, more durable prints, this filament is well worth the extra cost.

Quality Filament from BestBuy
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Insignia is BB’s house brand and they've jumped on the 3D printing train with their own white-label filament that you can get delivered or even pick up in-store at your nearest Best Buy. I received 5 spools in white/black PLA, PLA+, and PETG, and they arrived in excellent condition—vacuum-sealed individually, in a high-quality reusable box, dry and ready to print. I popped two spools into my printer and they were ready to print. The only major negatives compared to other filament are that these Insignia spools are made of cardboard instead of plastic and they do not include an RFID tag that allows automatic filament type and color detection. I'll likely transfer RFID tags from other spools or move the Insignia filament to an empty plastic spool to get this functionality, but they work fine otherwise—you can simply label and configure them manually. In terms of print quality, the prints came out great and had no issues with adhesion, color bleeding, or layer stacking. At nearly half the price of many competing filaments at full price—and even cheaper when on sale—these are a great alternative, especially if you need to pick up filament locally to finish a print and can't wait. I did a little research and a lot of people seem to think this is white-label filament, but regardless of who manufactures it, it works great!

Great affordable fillament!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I always wondered why more places did not previously get into 3D printing supplies. I am so excited that I can now purchase fillament locally at Best Buy. We have two 3D printers. The one we use most often is a Bambu Labs A1 Combo. That is what I used to print the panda slinkies in the pictures below. This fillament came vaccume sealed with a desicant bag in the center. The fillament seemed to be good and dry right out of the package. These are on cardboard spools. I felt the spool was nice and sturdy and loved that it had a window to see how much fillament was left on the roll as well as multiple holes in order to tie off the end when not in use. I decided to try both the black and white Insignia PLA in one project. I printed 3 panda slinkies. They came out perfect! With my printers preset generic pla settings, both fillaments printed flawlessly. I did not experiance any strinnging or any other flaws while printing. The white came out clean and crisp. The slinky is is strong and flexible. I was able to stretch and flex it without it becoming distorted quickly. This fillament exibits all the qualities of a quality PLA.

So price is great, availability is great, how about quality? The Insignia PLA White filament is a total win in terms of price and print quality. The white color in particular is a nice and bright white. I also have a roll of white PLA+ and oddly found it to be quite thin and translucent, but the basic PLA appears to be much more opaque. I don’t know enough about the differences to know why, but the PLA+ left me thinking I can’t use this when looks matter, but the PLA is actually printing like other top selling brands white. In the photos, you can see I printed part of a case for electronics to travel with and the PLA is very sturdy and feels like it won’t break. Of course, high or low temps, sun exposure etc can cause it to weaken, but if you want some cheaper filament to print knick knacks or non moving parts to sit on shelves, stuff like that, this PLA is actually plenty strong. And the color is accurate enough that you can use it for visual or practical use prints. The quality is so good that if you use this for testing, you can get a much closer to final print look than you would with other “discount” filaments that will actually cost more than this. Surprisingly Dependable Everyday PLA
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've gone through quite a few rolls of PLA over the years, and this Insignia Black PLA stands out as one of the better values I've found. From the moment I loaded it into my printer, everything worked smoothly. The filament fed consistently, produced clean extrusion, and delivered excellent print quality without requiring any special tuning. It is designed for reliable, everyday 3D printing with tangle-free winding and broad printer compatibility, which matched my experience. What I liked most was the appearance of the finished prints. The black color is rich and uniform, helping hide layer lines and giving parts a polished, professional look. Small text, sharp corners, and fine details came out crisp, while larger prints maintained good dimensional accuracy throughout the build. The filament is also designed to provide smooth surfaces and consistent results, making it suitable for everything from prototypes to decorative models. One of my favorite prints with this filament was a detailed Batman figure. The deep black color was perfect for the character, and the filament captured fine details in the cape, cowl, and armor while producing a clean, professional-looking finish. Another bonus is that it prints with very little odor, making long print sessions much more pleasant. The spool arrived neatly wound, and I never experienced any tangles or feeding issues during testing. Features listed for this filament include low odor, color consistency, and clog-resistant performance. Pros: - Consistent extrusion from start to finish - Deep black color with a professional appearance - Smooth surfaces and good detail reproduction - Low odor during printing - Neatly wound, tangle-free spool - Excellent value for a 1kg roll Cons: - Cardboard spool may not be ideal for every filament storage setup - Not as impact-resistant as specialty materials like PLA+ or PETG - Additional color options would be welcome Overall, this filament delivers exactly what most makers want: reliable performance, attractive prints, and great value. It's an easy recommendation for anyone looking for a dependable black PLA for everyday 3D printing.

Flawless Prints, Fantastic Value!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After using standard PLA for years, I decided to try this Insignia PLA+ White filament, and the upgrade was immediately noticeable. The filament prints just as easily as regular PLA but produces parts that feel stronger and more durable. Insignia describes this PLA+ as a toughened filament with improved impact resistance and stronger layer adhesion, and that definitely shows in the finished prints. I used it for several functional prints, including brackets and workshop organizers, and the results were excellent. The white color is clean and uniform, surfaces came out smooth, and the dimensional accuracy was spot on. The filament handled long print jobs without any issues and produced strong parts that inspired more confidence than typical PLA. One of the biggest advantages of PLA+ over standard PLA is the added toughness. While regular PLA is great for display models, PLA+ offers better impact resistance, stronger layer bonding, and improved durability while still maintaining the low-warp, low-odor, easy-printing characteristics that make PLA so popular. This filament is also designed for reliable high-speed printing and compatibility with a wide range of 1.75mm FDM printers. Pros: - Stronger and more durable than standard PLA - Excellent layer adhesion - Bright, consistent white color - Smooth surface finish - Low odor and easy to print - Great for functional parts and prototypes Cons: - Slightly more expensive than basic PLA - White filament can show dirt and print residue more easily - May require a little tuning to get the absolute best finish on high-speed prints Overall, this is an outstanding PLA+ filament that combines the simplicity of PLA with the added strength needed for real-world projects. I'll definitely be reaching for this instead of standard PLA whenever durability matters.

Great filament for general purpose printing!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bottom Line: Insignia’s PLA 1.75mm Filament is reliable and delivers hassle free 3D printing. Pros: prints reliably out the of the box; box and spool show print parameters for different filament types Cons: none Review: For those new to 3D printing, PLA is generally the widely-used "all-purpose" filament for 3D printing, striking the perfect balance of cost, reliability/ease of use, and durability. In this regard, Insignia has delivered on all three categories. Out of the box, Insignia’s PLA filament printed with no major issues on my Elegoo Neptune 4 Max using default PLA settings and default "fast" (0.2mm layer height) printing. My first print was a stand to display small toy cars, which involves printing multiple pieces and assembling them together. The pieces turned out perfectly and the stand fit together without any issues. I then printed a fidget toy for my daughter, which included two pieces that fit together well. As a more minor point, I do like that Insignia provides a table on the back of the box listing the different print settings used for different filament types. I also like that the spool is well labeled with the type of filament and printer settings, which is more convenient than trying to look things up if you're switching spools while at the printer.

Excellent PLA+ filament
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This review is for the white and black Insignia PLA+ filament. I've been a big fan of PLA+ filament since the first started coming out. They tend to be far more reliable and refined than regular PLA and this Insignia brand did not disappoint. In fact, I may have to switch to this over my usual brand - if for no other reason than its cost and availability. This filament comes vacuum sealed on a basic (but pretty sturdy) cardboard spool, wound properly so there's no worry of snags. Suggested temps are labelled clearly (which I appreciate). I tried printing the standard "benchy" and a calibration cube. The only settings on my printer were for "Generic PLA" and I made sure the temperature range was correct. Otherwise I performed no other configuration or calibration. The results were REALLY good - so much so that I could immediately tell the difference over the standard Insignia PLA. The lines were narrower, creating better details in the prints. I'm actually pleasantly surprised how good this filament it. Plus it's a little less expensive than similar PLA+ I usually stock my workshop with. All in all, this is really good filament and it has surpassed my expectations. A special note about the white PLA+: I noticed its quality of white isn't as "purely" white as its PLA counterpart. This is a minor thing and didn't seem to affect the overall better quality of the PLA+ filament over the PLA.

I use a lot of black filament for home decor pieces, and I'm constantly running out. Waiting for online deliveries is inconvenient, and I've often lamented the fact I couldn't just run to the store to pick up more filament. This filament solves that problem nicely. This filament printed very easily. My Kobra X's default PLA+ settings seemed to work just fine with it. I probably could have dialed it in just a smidge better, but the default settings were perfectly serviceable. I like the fact this filament comes on cardboard spools. Plastic spools are wasteful, and I always feel bad throwing them out or trying to find ways to repurpose them. Being able to recycle the empty spool once it's done is a bit of a relief. I didn't have any noticeable issues with stringing or bed adhesion, and it printed without clogging once. The finished piece looks clean and layer lines weren't too bad at a .15 layer height. I'm quite pleased with how the finished piece turned out. I can definitely see myself using this filament again.

Quality PLA+
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I always wondered why more places did not previously get into 3D printing supplies. I am so excited that I can now purchase filament locally at Best Buy. We have two 3D printers. The one we use most often is a Bambu Labs A1 Combo. That is what I used to print the panda racoon jewlery box in the pictures below. This filament came vaccume sealed with a desicant bag in the center. The filament seemed to be good and dry right out of the package. These are on cardboard spools. I felt the spool was nice and sturdy and loved that it had a window to see how much filament was left on the roll as well as multiple holes in order to tie off the end when not in use. I decided to try both the black and white Insignia PLA+ in one project. In addition to these 2 filiments, we also used a grey filament of a different brand. The jewlery box printed perfectly; my daughter loves it! With my printers preset generic PLA+ settings, both fillaments printed flawlessly. I did not experiance any stringing or any other flaws while printing. The white came out clean and crisp. The black was dark and rich The drawers feel sturdy as PLA+ should. This fillament exibits all the qualities of a quality PLA.

Print with confidence!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bottom Line: Insignia’s PLA+ 1.75mm Filament prints smoother, more durable prints than regular PLA. Pros: prints better than regular PLA; box and spool shows print parameters for different filaments Cons: none Review: For those who might be newer to 3D printing, PLA and PLA+ are slightly different filaments with PLA+ typically costing a little bit more than regular PLA. Although PLA and PLA+ are the same type of plastic, PLA+ has some additives that make it more durable and heat resistant than PLA. Conveniently, PLA+ uses the same print settings as regular PLA (the only difference is the max print speed on PLA+ is slightly slower), and so it's also easy to use. Out of the box, Insignia’s PLA+ filament printed without hassle on my Elegoo Neptune 4 Max. My first print was a phone stand, which took about 2.5 hours. I used the slicing software’s default PLA settings for nozzle and print bed temperatures with 0.2mm layer height. I printed without adhesion or supports. Overall, the print itself turned out really well. PLA+ prints a little smoother than PLA, and the layer lines are only really noticeable upon close inspection. Frankly, there's no real downside to PLA+ over PLA except that it costs a tiny bit more per roll.

Smoother prints than PLA
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bottom Line: Insignia’s PLA+ 1.75mm Filament works well and delivers more durable, smoother prints than regular PLA. Pros: prints well out the of the box; box and spool show print parameters for different filaments Cons: none Review: For those who might be newer to 3D printing, PLA and PLA+ are different filament options. PLA is generally considered "all-purpose" filament for balancing cost and ease of use, making it ideal for most typical print projects. PLA+ is, as the name implies, is the same chemical plastic as PLA but with additives to enhance heat resistance and durability. One of the additional benefits of PLA+ is that prints tend to be smoother than regular PLA. Out of the box, Insignia’s PLA+ filament printed without hassle on my Elegoo Neptune 4 Max. My first print was a gaming controller holder. I used the slicing software’s default PLA settings for nozzle and print bed temperatures with 0.2mm layer height. I didn't adjust any other settings other than adding an adhesion layer. The print itself turned out perfectly. The only minor issue was that I added the adhesion layer, and, with PLA is a bit easier to remove. With PLA+, the adhesion border printed pretty smoothly and adhered, perhaps, too well to the final print.
