This adapter transfers data fast. I needed a high capacity, small storage solution, so I purchased a few Micro SD cards to replace some Pen Drives. I had an old USB reader to single card SD, but the mounting and transfer rates were super slow. The Insignia Card reader received excellent rating, so I took a chance and am pleased with the performance.

Needed something cost effective and reliable to transfer large video files from a micro SD card. This USB SD memory card reader fit the bill, even more so with the USB 3.0 capability which has a higher rate of data transfer than standard USB. To take advantage of this your laptop or computer must also have a USB 3.0 capable port. Most devices made within the last few years typically have this capability built in.

As I'm not really willing to risk frying a header on my MB with a much cheaper option from online-only sellers, I opted to get the Insignia memory card reader from BB. I've never had an issue with an Insignia product in the past. The good: It does exactly what it advertises and has both SD and microSD reading capabilities. The bad: Any time I've used it so far, the metal USB connector is TIGHT in every USB port I've tried. It requires rocking it slightly in order to remove the reader from the slots. It's obviously not an "all metal" design, so I have my reservations about continuing to use this in anything another than a USB extension lest the connector break off and get stuck inside the port. I would only recommend this product if it is going to be used attached to a USB extension.

I got one of these because my tower does not have slots for my SD card which I use on my DSLR camera. It would take forever to load the pictures on the computer when I connected the camera directly to my computer. Those days are long gone now. The USB 3 feature makes loading the photos 10 times faster than before. Highly recommended if you are in a similar situation.

I needed just a simple small card reader that would fit into my camera bag. This little piece of kit does everything I need, and quickly too thanks to the USB 3.0 interface.
