I plugged into my macbook and got message stating that this accessory used too much power and therefore usb would be turned off, I called Insignia and they told me that it was not compatible with my new macbook. It shows in the instruction manual that it should work on any mac running os 7.0 or newer. I am on the newest version of os Catalina 10.15.2. I provide this review to help other macbook owners in the future.

IMO, don’t get this, for 5 bucks more you can find something online and so much more! I kept this just as quick spare in case I wanted to hold 1 card

Also, the opening is wider than the card used which made it not line up easily and often sat incorrectly. I had to go back to BestBuy, but the employees could not get it to work either, so I ended up returning it. I ended using the cable that came with my camera and the photos linked immediately.

Only had for about 2 months and it already broke

It started off with being spotty when in the port; sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't. Today the silver part that plugs into the part completely came out of the black casing and was stuck in my laptop. Definitely not happy with this purchase and will be looking for another brand to buy instead to replace this broken crap.

Never got such messages using the same cameras, same SDs, and same PC, or when using another similar reader. The only difference was that I inserted the SDs into this device to view on the phone. Wasted money and time. I did not use it right away and have been busy so the BEST BUY window for a return has closed.
