Alexa cant connect to Insignia Connect Account

Alexa Just says there was an error connecting. I have purchased and setup 10+ Tp link switches and outlets with no issue but Bestbuys brand will not connect with Alexa. I just spent hours installing the switches and getting them to work on the insignia connect app (Which is slower than a slug to turn the devices on) but when i tried to sign into the alexa skill there is an error. I am NOT happy .... I will be pulling them all out and returning them in the morning. What a hunk of junk and waste of my time.

Bought plugs a few months ago work great, easy to install. Went back for wall switch. Will not hook up to wifi so returned for a new one, same issue called support which was a waste of 10min. She basically instructed me to do all the steps in the instructions and when I said I did all that then she said to take it back for a new one. Will not bought the TP-link kasa wifi and worked like a charm first time. Don't waste your money or time

Works, little noisy, biggest issue is it doesn't actually support ifttt as advertised. If it does there's no instructions included or anywhere to be found on the www.

Homekit = Great Everything else NOT

I bought a bunch of these on all but less stellar reviews. Since i am integrating with iOS and home kit and went off of another reviewers recommendation that they work great on home kit. I have to say i totally agree as i bought 5 of them. The insignia app sucks, once you get it paired and into home kit though you don't need the app and everything on apple's side works wonderfully and is very responsive. Good luck making the plunge. If home kit is your route don't doubt!

    Absolute Garbage

I have had these for awhile and decided to finally get them setup. The device connects to my network and gets an IP address. The software tries to setup the switch and eventually comes back with a connection error. I've tried with the insignia app and the alexa app. Neither are able to setup this piece of junk. Buy something else!

Looks Great, Suffers From Poor Software

I had the same issue reported by previous user. The device just is not recognized by the app I tried with the latest and greatest app update from earlier this week and still no luck. The light on the device just blinks. Tried multiple hardware resets with no luck connecting on multiple devices. Will return and try a different product.

I spent the better part of two days off and on trying to get this switch to work and then connect to my Amazon Alexa. I think the Best Buy servers must have horrible response times, because the unit constantly lost connection and Alexa kept losing connection.

Only works as a basic light switch

I wish I kept the packaging because now I can not return them. I bought 2 of these. They work for a few days than lose connection with the app. They pretty much only work as a light switch since the smart features never work. I bought 2 of them and now wasted 60 dollars. Spend a few extra dollars and buy a main brand.

I've purchased 1 in wall switch and 3 insignia plugs and they are all awful. I own many smart home products and love them all except insignia brand. I have zwave, zigbee and wifi devices of all sorts and these are the only ones I regret buying. App is horrible and service is horrible.

Switches Are Good Software Deems Them Unusable

I bought two of these switches for my kitchen while the rest of my house is running the tp-link versions (exact same price) of the same thing. They worked good on my Google Home for about a month until last week they stopped responding. So I went into the Insignia Connect app, which also became unresponsive, the application would no longer let me log in. So I called customer service just to double check to see if they were having server issues. We'll, they were, and was told it would be back up within 3 hours. They weren't wrong as the lights toggled off twice, then started doing the exact same thing and have not worked since. I've called customer service two more times with the same response that it should be back up within 3 more hours how many times am I going to get three more hours in a 72 hour period. I've already put these switches back in their box and am trading them out with the far superior TP-Link switches. For your own sanity, do not buy these not so smart switches!

    Poor Application

    Posted .

I had decided to switch from WEMO to Insignia, $15 saving. Bad choice I had no issue getting it setup using my Android phone. But as soon as I tried iPhone and iPad, failures, different error codes. Would not turn lights on or off, but you could create a schedule. The schedules NEVER worked not even on the Android phone. Also it would never save the schedules if created on Android, but does on iPhone, but it never turns on/off the lights with schedule. Support was terrible he new nothing and argued with me. This is an application issue not the device, but with out the application it is worthless. I've had issues with WEMO on Android but nothing this bad. Taking it back to Best Buy and getting a WEMO.

    Terrible Product

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The switch is great....when the Insignia app and servers are working (which appears to be less than half of the time I have owned these switches). The first smart switch I bought was a Wemo. I have owned it for a couple of months and have never had any problems with it. Then, I found these for a little less money. I bought one to try it out and it worked great. So I bought three more and recommended them to family. Big mistake. The app and servers are down most of the time. When that happens, you can't control the switches with your smart phone or Alexa. So, if you want to spend too much money for a regular light switch with an annoying blinking green light, these are for you.

I bought 8 switches and have had nothing but problems. They took forever to get working. I had to try multiple times to get them online and when I got them working they went offline. They are very frustrating to work with. I recomend getting other switches. I have called their customer service multiple times and all they did to help was tell me to uninstall and reinstall the app even though I told them I have done that many times. I even got a different internet provider to see if that would help . I feel that I am out hundreds of dollars buying this product. I do not recommend them and I wish I never bought them

The app doesn't work. You can connect the plug to wifi but the app doesn't see it and so you won't be able to use it with echo or google assistant.

ive owned this switch for 5 weeks and have had to reset and resync it 4 times. it randomly "can't find internet connection", then doesn't work. i tried this switch because it was half the price of the lutron caseta switch i have downstairs. the caseta switch installed in 10 minutes 12 months ago, and has been working flawlessly since. avoid the insignia smart devices. the wall outlets are slightly better, but not much.

Easy installation and no problems adding the switches to Apple HomeKit. I was able to use my iPhone camera to scan the HomeKit code and it recognized it and added it.

Bought two of these switches and paid to have them installed as they required a neutral wire which we didn't have with our existing switches. Both switches work intermittently as they constantly lose the wifi signal. We check other devices and the philips hue products and everything else is connected so we know it's not an issue with our internet. We will be replacing these switches as soon as we can, they "are not responding" more of the time than they work.

I say purchase a wemo!!! Had no problem connecting to wifi. I have a really strong wifi signal. The isignia smart switch will keep saying will jist keep saying try again later. Been at it for an hour and a half. Don't buy this product. Its suppose to be a smooth set up but turns out to be really stressful. Even though its cheaper... just do yourself a favor and get a wemo.
