Q: Just noticed 4 wires, please explain? Would seem incompatible with normal home wiring.
A: Not incompatible. Normal wiring is three wires - black, white, and copper. The black is the "hot" wire, the white is the neutral, and the copper is the ground. When you put a switch in a circuit you now have 6 wires - three coming in and three going out. Since the switch cuts the power on and off, there will be a black wire coming into the switch and a black wire leaving. The whites are normally just connected together with a wire nut and the coppers are connected together with a wire nut or grounded to a metal junction box. So the new switch has four wires. Follow the directions. The white gets connected to the other two whites, The black gets connected to the incoming black. The blue gets connected to the outgoing black, The ground (green?) gets connected to the other two coppers or just taped off. Follow the directions. It is important to connect the switch's black wire to the INCOMING house black so that the switch has power to run the circuitry in the switch. Hope that helps. If you don't understand, call an electrician.
A: Means not connected to wifi anymore....hold button at bottom of switch for 15 second till here a click to rest....or pull off cover plate and there is a pin hole on right side, stick a paper clip into hole for 2 seconds to reset and then do the 15 second reset as well....if that fails re boot your own wifi...if that fails return it
A: You can use the plate that comes with it or any plates that you find elsewhere. I currently have 3 of them in one 4-plate. They are standard size for all wall plates.
Q: Does this item work with Amazon Alexa or Google home?
A: Yes, this device works fine with Amazon Alexa or Google Home.
A: I had the same issue with two insignia smart outlet switches. In the user manual for those, there are directions on how to preform a factory reset. I factory reset both switches then went through the steps to connect it to my wifi. It worked perfectly and I never got the error message again. Find out how to factory reset the in wall switches and try to connect again, that should do it.
Q: Does insignia have an add-on switch that will allow me to use this switch as a 3 way switch?
A: No
A: No. Can only be used to replace a switch in a circuit with one switch.
Q: Can this switch be programmed to turn on between a certain time slot for example 5pm-6am?
A: Yes. On the app go to schedules and set it there.
