Fantastic keeps floor nice in tidy. I like the mop option doesn't hold a lot of water or cleaner. But well wotth the money. Great app features to start cleaner from anywhere and program specific rooms as needed.

When I first received the iRobot Roomba 105 Combo Robot Vacuum & Mop, I did not have high hopes. I’ve experienced entry tier robot vacuums before, and they were always terrible. Well, sadly the Roomba 105 is just barely above that. It does have a few good points but they are just not enough to make this entry level robot vacuum worth. Initial impressions and set up – When I took it out of the box, I immediately noticed that the vacuum roller was small – very small. It is roughly half the size of what I have on my two higher end competing robot vacuums. While the overall smaller size of the unit can have advantages when navigating, the light weight gave me concerns (more on that later.) On a positive note, the fit and finish was excellent and better than I expected. For the initial set up, I plugged the base in and set the unit to charge. While it was charging, I downloaded the app – or so I thought. For some reason, there are two IRobot apps. The IRobot and the Roomba Home app, the latter is the one you will need. You can avoid my mistake by using the QR code on the packaging. I did not run into any issues once I chose the correct app and had the unit ready in a few minutes. For some reason, IRobot chose not to include an owner’s manual but included a 36 page safety manual. Weird. Regardless, once the app is set up, the Roomba 105 has to run an initial map of the areas. The mapping only took a 15 minutes. After that it was ready to clean. Performance – This is where things took a turn for the worst. In the app, you have a choice of light clean, normal clean or deep clean. I selected deep clean to get a good idea of its performance. The unit turned on at 7:46 PM. After several recharges, the unit was still running at 1:05 AM and not finished; I had to stop it. It covered all the areas at least once but 6 hours to clean 600 feet of floor space is ridiculous. I had hoped that it did a super thorough job but when I opened the dustbin, I found a small amount of dust. It had picked up some debris I placed in various spots but none from any of the corners. I had not vacuumed in nearly 3 weeks for this test, and I found the results to be disappointing. I ran the Roomba 105 again in regular cleaning mode and it ran for 2 hours and 25 minutes. The duct bin now had almost nothing in it. I thought that maybe my carpet was not as dirty as I thought so I ran my 10-year competing brand robot vacuum and the result was night and day. My old unit pulled in way more dirt than this new Roomba 105. Very disappointing. My old unit was 3 times the price of the Roomba 105, but I did expect better from the Roomba. Putting that aside, I found the lidar mapping to do an excellent job and the vacuum had no trouble navigating my apartment. I put down a shoe and small box to test the Roomba 105’s obstacle avoidance and the result was mixed. The vacuum navigated around the shoe and just pushed the small box. That was comparable to the other two robot vacuums I have, and I felt the Roomba passed the test. Battery life and charging – The Roomba 105’s battery life is not good. I mentioned earlier that this unit was light weight, and the smaller battery contributes to that. A robot vacuum should not need to recharge 3 or more times to vacuum an 800 sq foot apartment. The charge time is a crawl, and I think that is in part to the docking station being powered by a USB connection. Not good. In conclusion, the Roomba 105 is just too entry level for my tastes. It does offer mopping in addition to vacuuming, but I did not trust the unit enough to test it in my small kitchen (there is a carpet in the adjoining room and I could see that it would have run into the carpet.) The Roomba 105 battery is just too small and so is the cleaning roller. It left far too much debris on my carpet and the corners were mostly misses. There is no other way to put this, the carpet cleaning is just very poor. My old unit clearly did a far superior job, and I could see that result by all the dirt in the bin of my old unit -even after the Roomba had 3 passes in my apartment. This would be a unit for someone that has only hard surfaces and under 800 sq foot of area to clean. For the small areas I have that were tile, it did a decent job and performed a little better in the corners. The unit is relatively quiet, and the app is straightforward. The mapping was on point and way better than I expected. One of the inherent flaws of many round robot vacuums like the IRobot Roomba 105 is the cleaning roller are between the wheels. That limits the size of the roller and impacts performance. Better Roomba’s have a double roller that helps but I have personally found wedge or square like vacuums do a better job in corners. The final plus for the IRobot Roomba 105 is the price. This is one of the lowest price named brand robot vacuums I have ever seen. It does pack a lot technology at this price point and would be okay for a perfect scenario of all hard floors.

This is the third robovac that I’ve owned, but the first one with a mopping feature. This thing is feature packed and just might be the perfect vacuum/mop for my household. The problem that I usually have with these devices is not really the fault of the vacuum’s but more so the fact that I have three sons who leave a constant array of toys, tech and stuff throughout the area that I have these setup and that interferes with the cleaning paths. I purposely left things as they were when I set this up and the LIDAR scanner that is built-in mapped the area out perfectly, even accounting for items that interfered with the path. After setting everything up in the app, I ran the first cleaning without mopping and was more than impressed with the amount of dirt it picked up. When I cleaned out the trap, there was a lot of debris that was picked up. I was surprised and happy with the cleaning. I then started another cleaning, this time with the mop feature enabled and it did a very good job of cleaning as well. The app is very intuitive and easy to use and I was impressed with how quickly the job was done and that it found its way back to the charging cradle with no problem. It is also pretty quiet and not intrusive at all. The overall performance is excellent and I am more than happy with this device.

Great robot, they are getting better with the application setup via the phone. I didn't have any problems beyond trying to remember my password for the wireless network, so that is a plus nothing complicated and you can let it do its mapping. Cool little device maps using LiDar so it made quick work of the downstairs which was nice and then being able to use the app to direct it to certain rooms was win. The application makes it easy to pick the rooms and setup a schedule and if you want to vacuum, mop, combo. Setting a schedule is awesome since I have doggies I run this after they go up to bed to clean the area so it doesn't get barked at, and it does a great job. When mopping it knows to stay off carpets, and does a decent job at mopping with the cleaning solution. Vaccuuming it handles awesomely too, I have much less of a dog hair problem now in the house because of this little guy and overall having a daily a clean really helps, though I do have to remember to make sure the fluid in the mopping bin is topped up and ready to go, but I couldn't be happier with this little guy, it is saving me time and helping keep the house cleaner then I could with my busy schedule. Definitely very happy with it.

I've now tried quite a few Robot Vacuums. Quite a few decent ones...a few with very subpar suction...after a decent amount of use, I can say the Roomba 105 combo robot vacuum & mop falls in that first group. Setup on this thing was super easy. Plug up the charger, connect it to the charger, download the app. Connect it to the wifi, bam! You're ready to go. For anyone going through this for the first time it's no problem...for those who have done this multiple times over, as easy as it's ever been. With my first robot vacuum I assumed all of these devices map out your room/house, and then get to work. I was wrong...I've tried several of these devices that just operate until you tell them to stop. For purchasers of the Roomba 105 however, this device comes with a LiDAR sensor that maps out your space. After a run through and letting it scope out my place, I ran it again to actually clean. So, again, it's important to know that all of these devices don't do a great job of cleaning. I've run robot vacuums with no worries about my cords...this one...yeah. It has great suction...so my first run I had to stop it, move cords, then re-run it. For those who don't have USB-C cords laying all over the place, probably won't be a big issue, clearly this was a personal issue. The mopping ability is...decent. I will say, I didn't necessarily have any large messes down to be mopped up, but don't expect this to replace a legitimate mop, it's more of a touch up in that department. This model doesn't come with the autoempty dock...outside of that, I have no problem recommending this robot vacuum to anyone looking for a base model to do some cleaning around the house.

    A good entry Roomba

The iRobot Roomba 105 is part of iRobot's new entry-level line of Roombas. For those looking into getting into the robot vacuum game, iRobot Roombas are a staple. Out of the box, the Roomba 105 looks pretty standard. Setup is pretty straightforward. One of the annoying things about everything tech these days is that you do need to setup the Roomba in the app and Wifi to get started. The iRobot and the Roomba apps are not the most well-designed in my opinion. Having used other robot vacuums and associated apps before, I do think iRobot could improve on this aspect. The mapping is ok. It vaguely resembled my living room albeit with some inaccuracies. In terms of performance, it is ok. While this is iRobot's entry level, it still carries a premium because of the Roomba name. If you have used the more premium robot vacuums before, then you will definitely feel the difference in performance. For some larger debris, it will not even manage to suck them up and just kind of push them around. It does a better job with smaller stuff, but I still did find myself using my stick vacuum to pick up what the Roomba couldn't intermittently. My apartment is also fairly small but it did require a charge or two to finish the job. All in all, you have to keep in mind that this is an entry-level robot vacuum. The premium ones are premium for a reason and there is a difference. Regardless, anyone who has not used robot vacuums before will be surprised by how much stuff always seems to be get vacuumed up even though you vacuum every day. The Roomba 105 can still be a workhorse and can be a tool to get you that spotless home.

Basic vaccum & mop that is quiet

This is pretty much your basic vacuum/mop and it works great. If you know what you are getting and are happy with the sacrifices the mop works amazing and is in some ways better than more expensive options. There is no base station with an extra dustbin, everything except the charger is built into the robot so the base station is extremely small, but at the same time, you need to empty the robot more frequently as the built-in dustbin can get full pretty quickly depending on how dirty your floors get or how much your dog sheds. The advantage to this is that the base station takes up almost no room and you can put the robot in a few more locations that the larger base station. The mop is a nice feature, wet the rag for best results, and it is designed to put the mop on and then take it off once you’re done unless you’re always mopping, I suppose but in that case you’ll still need to fill the water bin as it is pretty small. Overall, this is a smart mop that didn’t get lost, it mapped out my downstairs quickly and the vacuumed it when I said to. On the carpet it had enough suction to leave lines which I prefer and it sucked up dirt and spilled dry cereal from the kids without an issue as well as dog hair though we don’t have the same shedding problem with our current dog as we did with our old dog. I think a standout feature that this robot has is the noise level it vacuums at, you can easily have a conversation and it is quiet enough to get lost in background noise more so than any other vacuum I’ve used besides the upstairs one which is an older generation vacuum only of this robot (I think this one might be quieter but they are close to the same level). I absolutely love how quiet this vacuum is. If you are looking for an amazing vacuum that doesn’t have a large base station this is an excellent choice. Pros: Very quiet Small footprint Excellent app Easy to set up Cons: Needs app to set up and get going (not a strong con, but some might think this is important) No garbage storage in base station Small water reservoir

I noticed it has a decent weight to keep pressure on the floor/carpet. During set up it needed to charge for awhile and also performed a update. I had to switch phone to a 2.4ghz connection for communication to the Roomba which is kinda funny as I don't typically use the 2.4 radio anymore. I first reorganized my rooms to be more consistant with access and ensuring nothing loose such as cables or? would be an interferrance. I then allowed the unit to auto learn my zones and after a few monitors of its performance decided to help map my rooms for a better experience. It did clean pretty well but you will still need a regular vacuum from time to time to bring the nap out of the carpet. I have a smaller kitchen and found the mop performance was able to complete its task with one fill, but, I suppose it also depends how dirty your floor is will determine how many times you have to fill the unit. It does a good job of always finding the base and also operating on a set schedule. There were a few times it got stuck on a tray table foot and I had to rescue it. It does wiggle its way out of most situations but best to not leave anything laying around loose. So I will use this as a preventive maintenance for more floors and will use a full size vacuum when a deeper Vac is desired.

Solid entry level combo Vacuum and mop bot

In the world of bots, this is a solid entry level unit if you are looking for good cleaning with a mop feature for simple everyday dust. Set up is easy thanks to the app. After letting it fully charge, In about 10 mins I was mapping my first floor. Once the map was complete, I created some no go zones and other areas to test out the accuracy. Carpet cleaning is achieved with a single roller with a whisker brush for edge/corner cleaning. If you start with clean floors and run regularly by setting up a schedule on the app, this will keep everything clean. Don't think you won't have to do some maintenance in corners, under furniture where this can't reach etc.. It is good on pet hair but if you have a heavy shedder, you may have to double the schedule. You also have to keep the dirt bin emptied and filter clean for optimal performance. This unit does not have the auto empty feature, well worth the upgrade.. The mop feature is a pad moistened with the water reservoir you have to fill, other models achieve this automatically with a price tag, again, well worth the value. The bot will avoid carpeted areas but sometimes I find it avoids too much and doesn't get all the hard surface floors. After repeated cleanings it eventually gets the areas though. This is great for everyday dust and dirt but it lacks the elbow grease to really tackle big sticky messes. If you have dogs, think wet paw season, you will still probably have some manual cleaning to do, but this goes a long way to knocking it down with regular use. Regular maintenance of the whisker brush, roller brush and dust bin will ensure it runs optimally so there is a cost involved to replacement parts.

So I've owned a few cleaning robots and, in the past had ones made by Irobot. I really like the brand and the app that they constructed. It's always been easy set-up and easy to use. The Roomba 105 combo is the first one I've used that did not have a docking tray which had an advantage and disadvantages. Mainly advantage was I didn't have a dump box that can look not the best and take up space. With this unit, there is just a smal square base in which the cleaner comes "home" to and charges. This base will need a flat surface to placed on, so that the robot can have the connectors charge it. But on the plus side, it's not so big and if put in certain places, won't even be noticed. As for the cleaner, it's like any other roomba. Set-up needs an app and the cleaner has to "map" out the room. It does a decent job of cleaning basic debris in my house but nothing that was extraordinary. The mopping feature is ok, but I wouldn't recommend this robot if that is what you're looking for. It does help with little stains but can't get anything tough. I really think this is a good robot for a small apartment or domotory. It is affordable and doesn't take up a lot of space.

I had purchased a Roomba robot vacuum a few years ago which I thought was a decent unit. This newer unit is way better than the last one. This unit has improved alot from the other one with advanced technology of the Lidar radar. The unit is fairly easy to put together and having the unit map the area from the base does take some planning. I had to remap the base unit two times as I had it in some areas it was not working out the greatest. But once you get it setup and it has run a few times I have not had any issues with it on my first floor with stairs going down to the basement. I have carpet and laminated vinyl plank (lvp) and carpet and it works great. I really enjoyed the app on it for letting the unit know where to not go. The new unit is way quieter than the old one and it is very efficient compared to the old. The only issue I have is setting the cleaning of the unit. I originally had it happen at night while we were sleeping which I then changed to when we were working. The unit is a little loud when in the cleaning mode for us light sleepers. But that is the only issue we had with this unit. I am still giving it 5 stars as it is a great product.

I have been using the Roomba 105 Combo Robot Vacuum & Mop (without an auto empty base) for over a week now, and my overall vibe is that it has been a good little unit that delivers as advertised. Its best differentiators are the inclusion of the washable mop pad, LiDAR sensing, and the app. Out of the box, you get the 105, a charging base, and the applicable components. The unit, like many other Roombas I have owned, is well manufactured and offers sturdy and robust craftsmanship. Setting up is not particularly easy when downloading firmware updates and then mapping your home through the app. My experience just with the initial setup was that it took me about 28 minutes to see our little guy out putting in work. The mop is a neat inclusion, but to be clear, it is just a microfiber cloth that wipes the floor down. As far as I can tell, the unit is not applying pressure scrubbing during operations. The ClearView LiDAR mapping works really well. The Roomba app lets you clean up the mapped floor plan and then even create work zones and avoidance areas, like carpets. Like most iRobot products, the 105 has an impressive suction performance. The robot will systematically clean your home, but you will need to double-check and clean corners as required. The collision systems also work well, but you catch your buddy bouncing off items and furniture as well as getting stuck here and there. My issue is that we have a long-haired dog. I want to ensure that I do not misrepresent the product, but I do not believe this device is intended for households with specific fuzzy friends without understanding the additional TLC required. We are constantly cleaning the roller, even after one week, because of our dog. The sweeper and roller lack an internal mechanism to manage hair, resulting in noticeable streaks during the cleaning of soiled areas. This is a significant limitation for pet owners, and they should consider this before making a purchase. The final conclusion is that I have had a few Roombas and understand the quality and longevity owners can expect. If you're looking for a dependable robot cleaner that can manage both vacuuming and light mopping with innovative features, the Roomba 105 Combo is a smart choice. It won’t replace a deep-cleaning session, but it certainly helps keep the daily mess in check, giving you peace of mind. That said, I would recommend this unit to family or friends, but I would make sure that it really fits their needs since its versatility is limited.

Summary: A surprisingly affordable and effective cleaner, the Roomba has come a long way towards easy to use and abilities. I was impressed by how easy it was to set up and deploy, and the mop vacuum combo worked better than I expected. I have hard wood floors with some simple cotton throw rugs, and it adapted well. It was also good at getting in tight places than then getting out on its own. The caveat is, like all these robots, it’s still round and hence does not get into corners and edges as well as you might like. And, I have gotten spoiled by the self-emptying connections of more expensive units. Pros: - Does a surprisingly good job on a variety of surfaces. - Floors looked cleaner than when I do it myself. The 105 was more thorough in its coverage, and because it’s so easy to run, I would often just have it do its thing when I stepped out of the house. - The lidar detection does a great job of mapping a room and avoiding obstacles. - The power base is very compact. - Relatively easy to set up, but you do need to pay attention to the instructions. - I liked the scheduling feature of the App as well as setting up zones. Sometimes I only needed (had time for) one zone. Matter of Taste: - Reasonably fast, but don’t think you can do a quick brush up 15 minutes before a party starts. - Needs to recharge ever 60 minutes or so while running depending on settings and space, and it took close to an hour to recharge. Not a big deal if you plan for it. - The Mop function requires water and will run out depending on your surfaces. You have to pay attention to refill it. But once I had an idea of how large of a zone it could do in one filling, I would plan accordingly. Pre-wetting the mop made it work better. -You only get two mop pads, you wash them between use. You might like to have a third. - You have to both fill it with water and empty it each time you use it. The ones with auto empty are less work and not as messy. - The software keeps improving, but to take advantage of all the features you do have to study how to use it. There is no purely ‘manual’ mode. You have to set it up with the App. - Roombas have steadily gotten quieter over the years, and this one is good but not whisper silent. It is much quieter than running a traditional vacuum though, and I can run it while watching tv, an oddly satisfying pleasure. Cons: - It doesn’t handle long fringe on Persian rugs well. Will jam up and require freeing the roller. More words: I was an early adopter (2 decades ago) of one of the first Roombas and felt back then it was more trouble than it was worth (so-so cleaning, picky about surfaces, had to empty it myself, always seemed to get stuck). Fast forward many innovations later (including phone integration) and I can honestly say it’s a pleasure to use and watch. You can see the difference in my hard wood floors and the Roomba has gotten better at avoiding clutter. For us it works best on hard surfaces (wood floors, linoleum, tiles). It handled short pet hair with no problem, but my wife has long hair and that would sometime wrap around the brush rotor. That was easy to clean though. It was fine with low pile carpeting or throw rugs (without fringe). We haven’t thrown away the vacuum cleaner yet. The Roomba is great for dust, small, dry bits of bugs or dirt, it doesn’t handle large wet clumps of dirt well. If our son has been hiking and leaves clods of dirt across the floor from his boots, we get out the vacuum cleaner (and hand it to him). But otherwise, we let the Roomba do its thing. Because it is round, it doesn’t handle corners well or other areas the Roomba does not fit. You can visibly see where it is sparkly clean, and where it is still dusty. Sometimes before I run the Roomba, I use an old-fashioned broom to first sweep the difficult to reach areas into areas where the Roomba can clean. Problem solved. At this price point I can easily recommend the 105, but you might want to consider buying a more expensive model with self-emptying if you really want to run hands off.

I thought it would be smart having a Roomba at the shop vacuuming and mopping after hours. I don't want to take the time outside of business hours to sweep and mop the 1200 sq ft of floor myself. I know this is the barebones entry level model but I was hopeful it would be good. It manages to clean the main shop floor on one charge as far as I know. It has got stuck a few times, but I've worked harder to make sure there are no cords near the floor. It was "fun" to have to look for it when I got to the store so that I could take it to the charger. In the one area that has too many cords to deal with, I've set to it's own zone and don't include that zone in the nightly cleaning. The mop reservoir is pretty small so it will only do the main shop floor before running out of water. The pad was pretty filthy after the first cleaning so I realized I will need to clean the pads daily. It actually left smears and streaks at the first cleaning. I think that may improve since the Roomba will be vacuuming and moping daily. I'm glad that it came with two mop pads. I only have one rug at the front door and it doesn't attempt to vacuum that since both the vacuum and mop settings are on. I don't know how long it takes to charge as it happens after the nightly cleaning. As far as the app, it lost communication with the Roomba a few times and I had to reboot the vacuum at the charging base to get it to reconnect again. I can see that, if I chose this for my home with carpets and too many obstacles, I wouldn't be happy with this model. This is almost perfect for the shop. As long as the app stays connected to the device, I think we'll be just fine.
